Eraminus looks at Flint while he listens, "If that's Klarg, we could strike him down without having to venture all the way through the cave. Save us the risk of more fights and potentially having to kill." He looks to Alvara and Alaric for their thoughts.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alvara nods, "A good idea. If we take out Klarg, maybe the rest of 'em will lay down their arms...."
She draws a runic symbol in the air with her finger and in moments, Archimedes is sitting in the palm of her hand. The rat lets out a small squeak, surprised by the sudden change in his surroundings. "Hey Archie, think you can climb up this chimney and scout out how many are up there?"
For a second, the rat almost looked like he might protest, but at the smell of the hounds behind them, Archimedes quickly scurries up the chimney.

Flint whispers to the group, “Aye, I hear two goblins and something … bigger. They are all speaking goblin."
Flint agrees with Eraminus and Alvara, “It would be a mighty boon to not have to travel through the rest of the cave. But, if any of us get caught poking our head out of the other end of this whole, they will likely be cut down while the rest of us watch from down here. Hopefully little Archie can tell us more." Flint inspects the rock carefully, trying to see how many people could fit through the passage at a time and what it would take to crawl/climb to the other side.
Only one person at a time can fit in the small space, and it will take some strength to reach the top.
Alvara/Archie:
The rat climbs up the chimney easily, and reaches the top without a sound. There is a large fire in the center of this room, and two goblins sit around it, along with another creature, much larger than a goblin, and presumably his pet wolf, whom it is stroking.

[[ At some point after the dogs go silent, and the party fails to follow, Alaric would leave the post he has taken up, further up the main corridor, and return cautiously to see if they are ok. Probably that would take a few minutes because he would assume they were freeing the dogs. ]]
Flint places his hands on either side of the chimney and stairs upward, squinting and tilting his head side-to-side. “Feart, only one through at a time.” He puts his weight on his hands and pulls himself a few inches off the ground. “And it will take some strength to get up there.” Thinking out loud, Flint says “It would be a might easier if someone went up first with some rope, tied it off, and tossed it down to the rest of us.”
Responding to Eraminus' question about Alaric, Flint says “Aye, if we are going through this way, we should get Alaric in here. He should see what you found and hear about what Archie is seeing up there.”
Receiving the telepathic message from Archimedes, Alvara relays it to Flint beside her. "Archie sees two goblins, and one bigger...guy, I'm assuming that one's Klarg. The big guy is petting one of the wolves..." She looks back at the hounds in the room uneasily. "We'll have to be careful that these ones don't break loose, they might be very loyal to their masters."
As she speaks, Archimedes scampers back down the chimney. Once the rat reaches her eye level, he seemingly lifts a front paw to wave.
Alvara lets out a quiet laugh, "Had enough of this place, huh? You did really great, Archie, thank you for your help," she traces a symbol in the air with her right hand and waves with her left at the rat. "Bye for now, Archie!" And with that Archimedes vanishes.
Alaric returns to the main party when hears them start up the corridor, and is quickly appraised of the situation.
He asks them if there was any natural cover at the top of the chimney -- could he climb out and remain unseen -- and how far the goblins and Klarg were from the chimney top. He also asks if Archie saw anything he might tie the rope to.
To assess the situation for himself, he climbs stealthily and cautiously up, bringing a rope just in case.
This time Alaric climbs the whole shaft in one go, and reaches to top without a sound.
