„We have no intention of letting the Soulmonger fall into the hands of either faction. But first things first, we have the find it in order to destroy. Which brings me back to the yuan-ti lair. Are the spellcasters ready to leave tonight or tomorrow?“
“Be assured, I....we will stop at nothing to see this thing destroyed. What happens when we find it? That is a bridge we will have to cross when the time comes and we are all aware that it may come at the highest price.”
Boosey looks to Allister. “While it may be to our advantage to go to the Yuan-to now I have used many of my spell slots, I would be of limited use I think. It may still be better to go now than wait but I could certainly do with a long rest. How fares you, Nenne?“
Nenne shrugs, ducking her head a little in chagrin. "I'm still able to cast spells. Yet, I am not quite whole from my encounter with the lava. One more night's rest should help, I think." She brightens somewhat. "And I can petition Kelemvor to grant me magic suitable for our goal. He is ever gracious to equip me with what I need, but it never hurts to be as specific as possible with my requests. If there is some feat of magic you would wish me to have access to, tell me before sunrise."
Coming back from a little scavenging hunt for berries, Lemon placed himself on a pile of bricks for which he called bed and nestled in to sit comfortably in between. He gave the newcomer a nod and introduced himself as well, bringing forth his club to rest on the ground and to lean his arms and head upon his shield. "The name be Lemon. Lemon Leaf Lime, but ye may call me just Lemon. I joined these 'er creatures not but days ago! helped them with a battle as well. Only we won that one our second time at it..." He gave a grin, his green eyes betraying what you would think his portly body could handle. A mad craze settled within them. His shield, a dark oak shield portraying the face of a screaming man, suddenly changed to that of him giving a mad, mischievous, grin. Matching Lemon's by a close margin.
Lemon looked to the others to reply to Nenne's question, "I be needin' not anything elf. Thank ye fer yer concern howev'er. I too just be needin' a lil rest and me body will be rarin' to go as well hahaha!" With that said, he managed to completely eat the rest of the berries he spent so long to collect for.
Morning brings clear skies, no rain, and a slight wind. This marks the second time you've all seen the blue of the sky so readily in the last 66 days. The night went by peacefully, save a single roar from whatever large beast roams nearby. Three similar sounding roars means that either this is a hunting ground for whatever that creature may be, or it actually lives nearby. Whatever the case, none of you hope to find out - at least not today. The yuan-ti await.
„Now that we are finally ready to move, may I suggest that Boosey takes the lead, sneaking as close to the cave as possible. I’ll follow him. If anyone has any means of getting to the cave unnoticed or getting some reconnaissance your input is very much appreciated.“
"I can cast my spell again to see and listen to the cave. I must meditate and pray for a little while before I cast it, however. It is not a feat I can accomplish in battle."
The trek across the city is much easier without the downpour making everything slick. In a few hours the party finds themselves navigating around the circular wall nearing where Nenne said the cave mouth bearing yuan-ti would be. The cave is not quite in sight yet, but is only a couple hundred feet ahead.
"Time to earn my corn," Boosey says to the party. "Let me get up there and scout the place out a little before we do anything else. We may at least get an idea of their strength." With that he begins to creep quietly towards the cave, keeping behind as much cover as possible.
Having spent a little time watching the cave entrance, Boosey returns to the party. "It's all quiet there at the moment. I could see down to the doors that Nenne saw during her scrying and it's clear. There are a lot of slither marks at the entrance, coming and going. It's difficult to tell which was most recent."
"I can cast my spell to see beyond that door," Nenne offers. She then removes her jeweled horn from her pack and begins mumbling a lengthy meditation under her breath until her divine clairvoyance awakens and reveals what is behind the closed door in the tunnel.
Nenne opens her eyes and places her spellcasting focus back in its place. She waves for Boosey to return.
"Six enemies that I could see," she reports. "One yuan-ti like we fought yesterday - similarly armed. Five of those gigantic snakelike humanoids - more beast than person. There was also a caged triceratops. In addition, there were a handful of small garden snakes watching Boosey through holes in the door. I doubt we have the element of surprise."
"The hallway is at least 60 feet long and has one tunnel offshoot that I could see, which means we could easily be surrounded if we stray too far inside. We must overwhelm them with force, and we must blockade the side tunnel at all costs."
Boosey returns and listens to Nenne. "They know we are here then," he ponders. "If we could somehow lure them to the cave entrance, I could bring down lightning on them. In an enclosed space like that it could wreak havoc."
Allister looks at the door leading into the cave. „How do we open this door? Has anyone checked for traps or magic yet? Anyway, there is no element of surprise for either side. Every damn snake in this gods forsaken jungle has spied on us. If we rush them we might be trapped, and we will not be able to stop the yuan-ti from getting reinforcements unless we kill him within seconds. So in my opinion we have two options. We rush inside and hope we hit hard and fast enough or we harrass them from the entrance with spells, bows and crossbows and make them either come to us or run further inside. This is like choosing between scurvy or the plague.“
Eku nods and says, "I must agree with Allister here. Even if we draw some of them out, there's no telling how many more one of them escaping deeper down those hallways could summon against us all at once. How many yuan-ti did you see attacking those shrines, Boosey?"
Boosey’s face turns grim at Eku’s question. “I didn’t....couldn’t count numbers. It looked like a small army when we flew over the shrines. There could be hundreds in there!”
„Right now I am most worried about the giant lizard. If this thing runs towards us they can scrape us off the wall.“ Allister points at Lemon. „If our druid has some spell or charm to calm the lizard down or convince it to trample the yuan-ti down, that would be great.“

Day 66
Morning brings clear skies, no rain, and a slight wind.

"I can cast my spell again to see and listen to the cave. I must meditate and pray for a little while before I cast it, however. It is not a feat I can accomplish in battle."
"I am not much one for sneaking, although I can turn invisible along with one other person for an hour."

„If the way inside is clear we should proceed. We better get inside before anything decides to slither in or out again.“
"I can cast my spell to see beyond that door," Nenne offers. She then removes her jeweled horn from her pack and begins mumbling a lengthy meditation under her breath until her divine clairvoyance awakens and reveals what is behind the closed door in the tunnel.
"Cast away, my friend. I'll go back down there and keep an eye on the entrance while you work. If anything changes I'll message Allister. Ok?"
Nenne opens her eyes and places her spellcasting focus back in its place. She waves for Boosey to return.
"Six enemies that I could see," she reports. "One yuan-ti like we fought yesterday - similarly armed. Five of those gigantic snakelike humanoids - more beast than person.
