Glimbul stumbles backwards some more before sliding down against a wall. “This has been and interesting 24 hours so far. Pardon me but I am having a hard time keeping up with everything thing. Between an attempt robbery by one of my saviors and meeting this stunning being. My knees feel a bit weak.” He shakes his head a bit before returning his gaze to the winged serpent. “Ekuzaliel, although we have just met, I hope it isnt rude to ask but... what are you? You looked human before, but this form I am not familiar with.” He continues to stare at the serpent with his mouth slightly agape.
Allister matches Nenneˋs glare. „It’s not new, Orvex and I did it all the time. You just didn’t notice.“ He turns to Glimbul, looking apologetic. „Listen, Badger, that what no robbery. I have daggers myself. It was just practice. Someone taught me the basics of stealth and fast hands, and I just wanted to test my skills on someone who is clearly no novice. I intended no harm as I always return what I take. Like this.“ He retrieves Booseyˋs coin purse from his pocket and tosses it to him. „Like I said, nobody ever gets harmed in this. Sorry if you got the wrong impression.“ Allister turns to Nenne again. „Thank you for your confidence in me. Don’t ever talk to me about trust again.“ He takes his waterskin and leaves the shrine.
Boosey looks at the transformation of Eku in open mouthed astonishment and rubs his eyes, just to make sure that the creature in front of the party is in fact real. He half hears Allister’s comment and replies with wonder in his voice.
“I don’t think they’d believe either of us. We’d be laughed out of town!” For a while he just stares in wonder at Eku.
His reverie is disturbed by Allister and Glimbul. “What in all the hells......Allister?” He leaves the question unspoken.
Nenne lifts her eyes to the heavens in an appeal for patience and sighs, "That man and I are predestined to misunderstand each other."
She looks back at Glimbul. "Orvex was a companion of ours we rescued upon our arrival here. He left us three days ago, taken by the Red Wizards. So yes, the warrior's fast hands is a new skill I was unaware of. But he is far too good a man to steal from his friends. Anyone who knows him would never think otherwise. Please don't allow this first impression to misinform you of his character. It is unimpeachable."
"Now if you'll excuse me, I fear I owe Allister an explanation." With a polite bow, she walks out in search of the fighter.
The cleric exits the shrine, nursing a sudden insight, and manages to spot Allister nearby. She opens her mouth to call out to him - and hesitates. "Slings and arrows," she says to herself quietly.
Taking a fortifying breath, she approaches him and, fighting her loquacious nature, says, "I came to apologize. And explain, if you'll allow."
The winged creature that was, is, Eku, flaps her wings to gently ease down coiled on the ground in front of Glimbul and Boosey. She neatly folds her wings back against her body and speaks with that same comforting voice that seems to have a calming effect all by itself. When she speaks, it is loud enough that Allister and Nenne can hear on the other side of the ruined wall, "Well met and good morning...Badger was it? My race has been recorded in your history books under the term 'couatl'. I have existed before your calendars began, but now is a time for urgency if there ever was one. We will speak more once Lemon is safe. I believe red wizards intend to burn him at the stake this very day."
Allister takes a sip of water as he hears about Lemon´s impending death. He nearly chokes on the water and runs inside the shrine. "How do you know this? I told you, we cannot trust those red bastards, thrice damned merrow arses. Please, Eku, if we may still call you by this name, tell us where Lemon is." As he speaks he stuffs his bedroll and canteen into his backpack.
Glimbul blinking his eyes rapidly snaps back to reality. “We can’t let that happen!” He jumps to his feet. “We must save their companion. Oh great Ekuzaliel thank you for this information. Do you perhaps know where to find them?”
With Eku in front of him, Boosey looks at her in wonder. He slowly reaches out as if to touch her feathers, then thinks better of it, looking slight embarrassed and self conscious. "You are incredible," he says to the sleek creature coiled elegantly on the ground. He struggles to pull his gaze from Eku and when he does, it takes a moment for his thoughts to catch up with his mouth. "The....it's...how....where....the cubes....," he stammers, and the last seems to jolt him back to reality. "The wizards have the final cube too. We should make haste, it would not be good to lose another companion, so soon after seemingly getting him back. It seems we must confront these Thayans, one way or another. Could we get their location and numbers from Orvex?"
"I do not trust communication over the stones anymore. If they have Lemon he has probably been tortured or they read his mind. If Orvex is still with the wizards we have to trust that he either stays out of this or helps us once he sees us
Nenne, stymied by the interruption in her conversation with Allister, keeps her silence until Orvex is mentioned.
"Orvex is imprisoned in Shagambi's shrine," she informs them. "Zagmira left him there with two days' worth of water after interrogating him. I spoke with him last night. He has no idea where the Thayans went."
Eku replies to Boosey's question, "We do not have time, but I do. I can free Orvex and meet you near the large amphitheater. I see a field of blood and slaughter. It is there where Lemon is to meet his end if we are not fast enough."
"Blood and slaughter, sounds like a normal day in Chult. I hope our spellslingers have a few spells up their sleeves to stop the mages from overwhelming us." Allister checks his weapons and takes his loaded crossbow and bolts.
The couatl shakes her head and says, "The vision did not provide those. Find the amphitheater and go from there. I will meet you." She uses her coiled tail to spring into the air and unfolds her multicolored, feathered wings to give her flight at an alarming speed across the city. She disappears out of sight and the party starts their three hour trek through the unforgiving landscape that is Omu.
“It should be in the north west part of the city. I remember seeing it when I first came to this city but I did not explore there myself.” Glimbul checks all of his equipment before heading for the exit.
Nenne quietly shoulders her pack and follows the party as they make their long journey toward the amphitheater. After twenty minutes of walking, she whispers something about arrows and falls into step with Allister.
"I did not get the chance to apologize," she says in a humble tone. "I would like to do so now, as we have time. Will you lend me an ear?"
"If you don´t mind I have other things on my mind right now. If you want to apologize, I accept. I know my actions don´t always make sense to you, and neither do yours to me. But all that counts in this hell is that you can count on me when push comes to shove. If your life is in danger, I´ll risk mine to safe you, as there are more important things at stake than our behavior. My reaction was as harsh as yours, at least in my mind. So let us focus on blood and slaughter and people who need us with a clear head." Allister smiles at Nenne at claps her on the shoulder
