Seeing Allister dive out of the way, Boosey is all too happy to do the same hoping to avoid whatever foul gas the big cat is spewing. Their plan works, as they were both on the cusp of the cone. Allister parries a snake bite and then Nenne's skeletal hand manifestation slaps the cat causing it to roar out at the source of its pain. With the cat turned so Allister seizes the moment and, with a double thrust, drives both of his swords deep into the cat's neck. The cat instinctively swipes out at the fighter, but the swing is lazy as it falls, taking the cutlass with it.
Eku runs forward, bow at the ready and aimed on the big cat's ever slowing form. She keeps one eye on the cat at Allister's feet and one on the area around, looking for signs of danger.
The cutlass bit is just for flavour. You can easily take it with you wherever you might go next.
A short time later, with everyone at the ready, the second big cat reappears, but not entirely. It bears more burn marks and dozens of slicing cuts all over its body. It lies very still in the center of the courtyard and appears semi transparent as if caught in the phase.

Boosey takes a moment to look the cat over, looking back and forth from Allister to the unmoving beast. The gnome takes on a pensive stance as he comes to the realization that Allister is the only one here using weapons and all of these wounds are slashing, compared to the piercing nature of the fighter's cutlass and rapier.

"So, anyone got any theories as to what's happened to these things?" Arcana check 14 He takes out his sword with the intention of giving the body a speculative poke, but thinks better of it and re-sheaths it.
The ethereal plane is by far the easiest of all the other planes to get into. Boosey knows that there are spells that can take you there with a word, but having the ability to do so is usually reserved for ghostly creatures or creatures native to that plane. The gnome can't say for sure, but these cats might live in both planes if that is truly where they were coming from.
He looks between Allister and the cats. "So what, or who do you think teleported them?", and he suddenly becomes very concerned. "If Sthara is in the same place these went to...," he gestures to the cats. "Whatever attacked them must be pretty dangerous."
"I grow less fond of this place by the minute," Nenne says, walking over to the others. The skeletal hand hovers over them in midair, as if sheltering them.
"Think you that there is another portal mechanism in this courtyard, similar to what stole the lady mage from us? Mayhaps these creatures are not the only ones capable of transgressing the boundary of the planes."
"It is magic from the conjuration and transmutation schools," Funderburk spat.
Now next to his friends after helping Dunk get through the arch way, "Wildly good magic at times, just horrible schools. Have no taste in perfectionism." He stood and watched the ghostly cat. "Shall I cast a spell? Something of the shorts like detect thoughts?" He looked to his friends, off of Dunk and standing with them, "It may or may not work however considering its... situation..."
"By all means, sir wizard," Nenne says with a wave of her hand. "I fear my usefulness in this endeavor has reached its limit. And I also fear the danger we invite to our friend should we tarry longer in reuniting with her."
"Do you have a way to detect magic? There are strange forces at work here, and my concern for Sthara grows by the minute. We should explore every avenue to try and return her, or join her. Besides, both of you know far more than I about the inner workings of magic!"
Nenne shakes her head, a flicker of amusement in her eyes. "All my power comes from Kelemvor. In fact, when I cast spells, I do so not knowing what will happen. My faith in the Fair Judge is the conduit for his power, and whatever manifests is merely his will in that moment. This is why I pray to him every morning - that he would gaze upon the path I have chosen and bestow upon me whatever strength I will need to walk it. In truth, friend storyteller, you are more educated in the ways of magic than I."
Her brow furrows while she lapses into thought. She spends a moment in quiet contemplation, grasping her amulet lightly, before glancing up at the group. "I know not if he has granted me the power to read magics. He has never done so, before."
She stretches out her hand toward the fallen creature and concentrates for a moment. Nothing happens.
"I can certainly petition for this ability on the morrow," she says, her tone full of faith, "and I know he would grant it to me if it were his will. Today, however, he has seen fit to equip me with other strengths. He has clearly judged us to be capable enough without it, challenging though this mystery may seem. I have faith in him, and in us."
"Detecting magic will do us no use. The spell tells us the school of the spell and where it is. Not even locating something on her body will help us for as long as she is in another dimension. The only course of action that I have in mind is for me to cast a spell to detect the felines thoughts. Maybe I can learn why it is going through this."
With that thought in mind, Funderburk advanced towards the feline creature, touching it as he came within range, and began casting Detect Thoughts on the creature.
Nenne glances around the courtyard. "The creatures slipped in and out of our realm several times during their assault. Perhaps the grounds have hidden doorways to the other plane? If we walk to the spaces where we saw them vanish, is it possible we might also be transported as they were?"
She scans the injuries on the cats and grimaces. "Though I cannot say I am eager to sustain similar injuries," she adds, one eyebrow cocked.
Funderburk reaches out with his hand and casts his spell, which the vedalken knows to fail as soon as it's over. The wizard's hand pushes against the faded beast and there is a moment of resistance before Funderburk's hand pushes through. It feels weirdly substantial and not at the same time. Movement to the side catches the attention of many of you, as a sort of fog blows in from out of nothing. The fog melds into a substantial Sthara holding a blue, cloth satchel.

Boosey is going to move to the top left of F7 and hold his action, hoping that invisible kitty isn't hiding in any of the squares he's moving through

„The cats didn’t become invisible, they were teleported. Probably like Sthara. We should stay together and not split up any further.“
