Shadowthorn's Princes of the Apocalypse

(Sounds like Rubin is not yet up...)

As the dragon is struck by a second barrage of magic, Kethra feels herself healing from Xanranzan's music and the dragon's strength wavering from Marros' curse. She gives her teammates a grateful nod then with a sly smile she looks up at the beast.

"You think you're so big and nasty, huh? Well, I think you're just a big ol' flying horse who ate too many carrots!" With a yell, she pushes the dangerous tail out of the way, jumps and tries to snatch the dragon's reins in her arms to wrestle it to from the air and into the ground.

Grapple: The dragon must contest Kethra's of 18, advantage because of rage. The dragon's contested STR ability check at disadvantage thanks to Marros' Hex. On a failure, the dragon's speed is reduced to zero, plummets from the air and Kethra headlocks it and drags it away at half speed so that its tail can't reach Xanranzan (up to 20 feet of movement if need be). The dragon will be in between them both so they're not lined up for a dragon breath.

Whether if that succeeds or not, Kethra takes a deep breath herself, taking a defensive stance with a sawtooth sword (bonus action Patient Defense). If she had grappled the dragon, the dragon's neck is in a headlock around one arm lol.

The monster's skin seems tougher than you'd think, and Rubin's bolts just bounce off.  Kethra tries to drag it down to the ground (Atheltics: 10), but it just barely manages to stay aloft.  It shrieks in anger once more, and continues its vicious assault on Kethra.

Claws: 15 Damage: 9

Stinger: 8 Damage: 11 and DC 15 Con saving throw, taking half of 24 poison damage on a success or full on a fail

Rubin sends two more bolts in...
Attack: 27 Damage: 8
Bonus action Attack: 18 Damage: 4

(Disadvantage for stinger from dodge: 19)

(Um, please also roll the dragon's athletic check at disadvantage because of Marros' Hex spell!)

"Oooh, that had ta -- hold on Ke-er-Bla-uhm... Just hold on!" Xanranzan called out as he rushed to close the remaining distance. Both of his blades being snapped into a cross slash in hope of taking out the tail. But even if not able, the  Xan follow through with the motion, and appeared almost to be dancing as the blades are whirled into defensive flourish to both ward off yet keep its attention on him. "Come on ya oversized turkey! Have at someone more ya size!" He taunted it.

Action: Attack w/ Saw-Toothed Blade.
To Hit: 24 For: 13 magical slashing damage.
(If a hit, spending Defensive Flourish to add 2 to the damage and add the same amount to Xan's AC)

Bonus Action:  Attack w/ Off-Hand Longsword.
To Hit: 16 For: 10 non-magical slashing damage.
(Using Defensive Flourish above, if 1st attack missed)

Grateful for the help, Kethra gives Xanranzan a squeeze on the shoulder, then pounces to try to seize the poisonous tail as well.

Kethra manages to muscle the wyvern down to the ground, although it doesn't seem to hamper it too much other than the fact that it can't use its claws to attack anymore.

So um I feel kind of bad for asking this question even though the dragon will probably hit anyway: From the top of this pyramid, how many feet does Kethra need to jump horizontally so that both dragon and Kethra both fall 10 ft? So you know, both take damage and become prone (but dragon cannot move because grappled means 0 movement hehe).

Marros is shocked by the strength and resilience of the large beast. He tries in vain to send another crackling orange bolt into its side.

Eldritch Blast 11 for 10

Whether it hits or not he calls out incomprehensible words to his Patron and a glow appears around Kethra. It's warm comforting light healing her for 10.
