Xanranzan not only smiled, but the citrine toned veins in Xan's "skin" glowed a little at the compliment from Kethra. Although he appeared confused a second after with her speeding away after, he pretty quickly shrugged it off and looked in aweat his blade until talk turned to rest. "Considering how important that one guy seemed to be before he got his head 'spoded, I wouldn't recommend staying in this room, secured doors or not. So, definitely Kenku guard house aughta work." He affirmed then cocked his head to the side a bit. "Ya good, Kethra? Look like ya swayed there fer a bit. I got one more, uh, "pep talk" in me that aughta help if ya need it? Or, I can give ya a piggy back?" He asks nonchalantly.

"Considering how important that one guy seemed to be before he got his head 'spoded, I wouldn't recommend staying in this room, secured doors or not. So, definitely Kenku guard house aughta work."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Xanranzan goes for nodding in agreement to lofting a brow. "That's an oddly specific request, but... eh, why not? I s'pose ya earned it by this point." He smirked. "Oh and uh... Good on ya, back there. WIthout'cha, I don't think we would've managed quite as well." He adds both as encourage, as well as subtly laced his words with a bit of magic to help restore some of her strength(4 Hp back to Kethra).
He then sheathes his blades and knelt down so she could climb up, then secure her legs as he rose up again. "Rest of ya'll ready?" He asks of Tyde and Rubin. Just as soon as they gave they 'Ok', he happily took off at a steady pace, trying his best not to sound like a dying cat or some kind grinding stone in his attempt to fulfill Keth's request on the way back.
As the party took their long rest in a safe place, Kethra takes one of the watches and spends it trying to communicate to Allistair, all her efforts in vain so far.
Giving up, Kethra sighed in exasperation, but as she did so, she accidentally created a faint, pale blue orb of spiritual energy. Curiously, she gently pushed it forwards, which floated towards the owl, then softly diffusing and ruffling his feathers on impact.
"Well, that was a stupid idea," Kethra hooted in owl speak, then screamed in astonishment.

(What do you plan on doing after resting? Are you going back to check the upstairs area of that room, or are you retreating back to the surface?)
(We had originally agreed to reset back to the surface until you told us this, but after that nat 1 it looks like we're gonna go back to the surface -_-;;)
(I forget why we are going back to the surface. Rubin would wish to finish this place out. He figures we likely have taken out one of the bigger threats in the area now, so just push through and get this done with. It would be one of the first places we had fully investigated.)
(We literally had a long discussion about this from end of October to November. I understand it was a while back so I linked to its conclusion in my last post. I would rather not rehash but....As someone who fights in the front I'd rather not see what they have deeper in this wind dungeon. Another dragon? Another invisible enemy? Or heck, an invisible dragon? If y'all have an appetite for danger I'd rather go back to Rivergard where we met Xanranzan anyways. The creatures there swim instead of fly, AND in that one we met the wereboar who killed Kethra's master, so Kethra's quest item is there.)
(The words got away with me, but figured I'd post the lengthy version of Xanranzan's level up during his watch for those interested/might wake up and want to react to it.)
When it came to his turn to keep watch, needless although it may have felt on some level, Xanranzan found himself reflecting on the past few days of events. In spite of their many victories and progress, the close calls and uncertainty over the future made all the more apparent how unmoored the group were from safety. This led to him eventually getting up to his feet to work out the anxiety in practicing a few swordless forms taught to him by his saviors. What few he could even still remember at least, as he was never all that good of a student.
There was a comfort that came with rigidity. Something he often left to the wayside to be more flexible and attuned to the 'Song of the Earth', channeling its voice in every movement, clattering of his blade, and the occasional rhyme. But this time was different. His footing felt so unsure. And unbidden by any conscious thought, his mind drifted back to time Kethra had been floating the water. Dying. Drowning. And how had he responded? What would've happened if noone else had been more on the ball? Or worse, they all were in a similar state? And on and on his imagination went coming up with sometimes ridiculous scenarios. But as the downward mental spiral was reaching its bottom, every one came back to his own inadequacies.
He wanted to do more -- to be more. Truly. Earnestly. Even if only a little. And little by little, the forms he had been practicing began to shift closer towards a new dance. The stone itself to him felt to be churning ever so much as to assure he'd keep up to some unheard beat. But he felt through his feet and travel up through his bones a rhythm that sat comfortable in his noggin. At some point he had closed his eyes during the dance as well. So when he opened them once more, the sight of a softly swirling dome of dust in the process of receeding had not at all been what he'd expected!
It is only towards the end of his watch that a sweaty Xanranzan finally remembers the whole business with the air dye. With a snap of his fingers and a bit of a chuckle, he whispers to himself, "Ah, I'm pretty sure they were just mess'n with me. Though, I aughta get some more. Fizwyn wasn't kidding. The stuff is multipurpose." And on that note, he switches with whoever's next on watch and rests for the rest of the evening.
The next... day, Xan rushes a bit through the usual gear maintenace in his excitement to be on the move. Which if the others look confused about, the earth genasi chuckled and say, "We're headed up top to kick those punks outta the tower now... right? Like, now that we know they ain't on the up 'n up 'n all that."

(If we circle the canyon before heading up to its surface, how wide is the canyon at its narrowest? Are there any giant vultures still around?)
"You know looking back....we totally could've roped the giant vulture that was here before to carry one of us past the tower drawbridge. Oh well, at least we got these!"
Kethra holds up 4 cultist uniforms: 1 wyvern-riding Skyweaver uniform, 1 normal Skyweaver uniform, 1 Hurricane uniform and 1 normal cultist robe. The Hurricane uniform probably needs a prestidigitation to clean up the blood from earlier.
"Well everyone, take your pick. This tower is probably like Rivergard and they are secretly on the cultists' side especially with those shallow graves we found being so nearby. We can leave the talking to Xanranzan, right? I can't really do anything from a distance...so Mr. Tyde and Rubin get ready to support him if things go wrong. We'll approach at night time so Rubin will be at his peak strength...and that the rats will be scavenging around for Allistair to pick out."
Lastly, Kethra tries to find a large animal (like a deer or something) and tries to use Speak with Animals to try and bribe them with some of the old bread the party obtained from Rivergard to accompany us (and give us some cover in case things go south).
"I mean, that other guy kinda said outright they're feathergale knights or whatever, and that they 'serve the howling hatred' in getting more, uhm.. well, sacrifices." Xanranzan reminded. "But, uh, either way, uhm... All that other stuff sounds good I guess. If its dark, they probably won't even notice I'm an earth genasi, so that can only work to our advantage, right? Kinda kick'n myself for not asking for any secret entryways into the tower, but that kinda got nipped in the bud a bit quick there didn't it." He smiles sheepishly.
"But first, we gotta make our way up to the surface at least to see the time. So, uh, let's hop to it. We can worry about disguising ourselves once we're a bit closer. 'cause I don't know about ya'll but I ain't exactly eager to be wear'n those for longer thatn we gotta."

"That so?" Xanranzan asked as he looked up along with Tyde. "Huh... Where I'm from, usually the only good omen is when Ma had one of her deals with an Efreeti actually go through without a hitch." He admits with a melancholy smile, then turned back to the others. "Right then. NOW we can get suited up. Meant to say this before, but I didn't wanna dirty them up too much on the trip up 'n all that."
He then glances to the canyon wall. "Granted... that's probably gonna happen anyways. But..." He trailed off brief chuckle, then set about trying to put on the hurricane's outfit. Once everyone else had been suitably suited up, Xanranzan lights up a copper to better see the path they used, and lead the way if there are no objections. "So like, should I tell them there's been a problem, which is why we're visiting? Or like, something else?" He asks on the way up.

There's no need to climb up the side of the ravine to get out, as the path you used before is still there and usable. The chasm isn't terribly wide, maybe 15 feet. Are you planning on checking out the Spire, returning to Red Larch, or checking out one of the other keeps?

Next, she looked touched. "Yes, I'd appreciate that a lot!"

Kethra couldn't help but fangirl a little at finally hearing Allistair's voice.
"I mean, if all that big fuss was about wanted was a rat I'm here to help you out! but there's no way I'm touching one of those with my hands."
