When Xanranzan tells his story, the white haired girl silently listens save for a comment that she also wishes that the half-orc Sorak well. Remembering that Xanranzan had mentioned that his father was a blacksmith by trade, Kethra would not bother trying to insight this story but would instead stay deathly quiet.
The next day after Xanranzan tells his tale, Kethra would very passive aggressively bring up on the road that she feels a bit miffed that Xanranzan had left out the very important detail that a fellow blacksmith was attacked by these cults.
Raising her tone, the white haired girl would then remind Xanranzan that right before they found him and Sorak, they were assisted by two other individuals named Jairus and Davian get into Rivergard Keep and avenge her own master blacksmith's death by slaying the cult leader named Jolliver Grimjaw. Although the way Kethra passionately re-tells the story, it's not clear if Jolliver was a man or a monstrous pig, just like she can't seem to keep her story straight with how Davian was an half-elven man or "the MOST adorable black and grey puppy you've ever seen".
Continuing to lecture the earth genasi, she would smack him over the head with the sheathed saw tooth sword. "And what was with that little spell you cast on me earlier! I appreciate the gesture, but you've got to be more of a gentleman about that kind of thing. You're lucky we found you when we did, you know! We lucked out we ended up in Rivergale first because we were first tracking...an entirely different group..."
Kethra stops, curses in the dwarf tongue and addresses the whole party.
Listening to the group's past exploits gives Marros a surprising amount of enjoyment. A feeling he hadn't had for some time. If given opportunity to tell tales of his own, he will tell them simply of being born into a family of river pirates and of the fateful day his reckoning.
The story goes that his family was beset by a more fierce and heartless group of pirates looking to expand their own operation. His entire family slain and him left for dead on the banks of the river, it is then that a being came to him and offered to save him. He goes on to say that without hesitation he accepted the offer, for with his saviours help he vowed to avenge his family.
As the great sword like spire looms into view Marros becomes quiet. Never had he seen such a piece of construction quite like it. Being the newcomer to the group he only adds his agreement to whichever plan the group decides.
"Well until we find out for sure perhaps we should use our code names. If it turns out they're just riders from waterdeep we can reveal who we are."
Tyde will then use the snowy owl's senses to see if there's anything that looks like a well worn trail or path leading down into the canyon.

"I'm looking through my owl's eyes right now for a way down into the canyon."

Xanranzan has the most serious look of consternation about him by the time Tyde opens the floor for everyone else. Although able to eventually shrug off the confusion Kethra's comment about some kind of spellcasting at the time, the memory yet cropped up again. But for the life of him, he could not recall having done it. Yet, as he started at that point to rub his chin, he didn't put it past his past self to have done... something of the sort.
If he wasn't spending too much time pondering a course of action, then it was likely for him to do the exact opposite without thinking anything at all. But if so, what--"... Huh?" Xan perked up abruptly. "Nicknames? Uhhh.... I mean... uh.... Yea, I don't remember any. Just call me.... uhhh.... Bob... yeaa... Bob." He says, nodding and smiling proudly at himself. ".... Wait, what's this about the son of a Shepard?"
(To Sees: That reminds me that I don't think I every properly described Xan during your character introduction. But he is a tall, muscular human, or humanoid at least given that his skin appeared to be made of some type of cloudy ruby quartz stone finely sculpted in the likeness of a man, and bear eyes the solid color of citrine quartz. His short and often messy, curly hair appears a darker shade of red in color and made of the same material as the rest of his stony exterior. However, it move, behaves, and presumable feels like normal hair. Xan is currently wearing simple scale mail and leather greaves over well-worn and thick traverler's clothing.)
(He carries a number of other gear and weapons on hand, but the noticeable is a sawtooth blade similar to the one Kethra carried, and less simple, but clearly well-tended longsword at his hips)

If Marros was willing to talk, Kethra would gladly listen to his story. "I for one, am very glad to finaaally have someone with us who actually knows their way around a boat! Every time we get on a boat we end up sinking it...any idea with what those river pirates looked like? One of them didn't happen to be called 'Quanderil' or 'Quinn', did he?"
With an unregretful tone of voice, eyes constantly shifting from side to side and a quick change of subject, the white haired girl's claim about sinking multiple boats sounds a little suspicious.

Kethra would interrupt, pull him down to eye level and point a thumb to herself. "Butcher."
Pointing to and reaffirming the wizard, "Baker."
Then after ruffling the stone man's curious hair, she points to and pokes his forehead at the same time. "Candlestick maker."
"If you say so." Rubin says with a shrug. "Now, back to our original topic... Do you want to walk up to the place and just knock, or are we going to climb down into the canyon and have a look around first?"
(Less froze up, and just look very confused, followed by very thoughtful. Both he and I(the player) are confused though about what spell she's talking about. As the only one I can think of he actually casted that involved her was Pass Without Trace. The Lesser Restoration had been cast on Marros, and I cannot remember who was given Bardic Inspiration atm. But, he wouldn't consider that a spell.)
Not all expecting to get yanked down for anything, Xan puts forth little in the way of resistance. At each point up until his own, the earth genasi slowly in understanding, only to squint at her by the end. "Candlestick maker? Now dat don't make a lick of sense. How I'm s'pose to remember someth'n like that?" He asked, genuinely sounding confused while rubbing at his forehead.
"Let's stick with Bob. Nice. Simple. And, its only 3 three letters!" This he says while raising fingers at each point. Then, if she still held him, he asks quite plainly, "Now, ya gonna let me go, or ya work'n up to kiss me or somethin'?"
If she long since let him go, or after that nonchalantly asked question, he turns to Rubin while thumbing Tyde's direction. "I believe Mr. T-er, Baker, uh.. dude... said somethin' bout sending his owl fer a looksie in terms of a way down into the canyon first. Unless ya wanna take the short cut down?"
"If this place is that dangerous that we aren't going to go straight in the front door, what in the Lower Planes are we doing here?" He voices his concerns. "I mean, I'm with you no matter your choice, but..."His voice trails off a little.
His worries soon to to amusement when Kethra schools Xan on the nicknames. "Bahaha. You guys are funny. Butchers and a candlestick maker called Bob. This is almost as good as a play I once saw."He continues to chuckle.

Which, I got magic to help with the falling bit, but that might still leave us in a bit of a pickle after landing." He explained. "'Sorry, uh... Butcher. Just the way it is. Air don't like earth. Fire don't like Water. And the feeling is mutual on both sides." Xan adds and shrugs.

"Wait a minute, Xa... ah, Cobbler. Did you just say you had some falling magic that could help. Could it help us get down into that canyon?"
Tyde will have a look through Allstair's eyes:
Perception check: 17
(if we find another, easier way down then Tyde will say what is posted below)
"Nevermind, I found a way down."
(Just waiting on the DM here. Need to know if the familiar sees anything or not, prior to making any further plans.)
(same)
Kethra shrugs. "It doesn't matter whether if they're from the cult of water, earth or whatever. The only thing we need confirmed is that we don't accidentally kill any knights from the big city of Waterdeep."
Frowning, Xan starts to answer Kethra until hearing Tyde's remark. And finding it easier to answer he says, "Well, yea. T'is why I asked if'n Shadow there wanted to take a shortcut or not." Then looking back to Kethra with a frown he says, "Look, I.... even if they are, I.... I can't.... I can't do like stuff like that... Not again." He finally admits. "Even if its just pretend -- nevermind the awkwardness of strolling up on knights if the are that, I can't... hold the reigns on someone like that. Truth is, it.... every time we had people bound up in the past and held them against their will, it really hurt here." He thumps his chest a few times.
"But, it... it needed to be done, right? So, I soldiered on without a word. But.... doin' that to a friend.. to an innocent.... it's dredging up some dark memories I'd rather keep to there caves, ya know what I mean?" He asked solemnly and with eyes growing a little watery at the corners.

"No need for distress, my friend. For if they are indeed knights of Waterdeep then all is well and we can warn they of the increased cult activity in the area."
Tyde looks toward Kethra with a shrug before continuing, "But if they turn out to be cultists then we have to root them all out, nook and cranny."
(There does appear to be a way down through the canyon without going face first.)
