"As regrettable as it is to give business to a competitor, I unfortunately don't have any rooms available. Kaylessa across the street at the Swinging Sword would be more your speed."
He gets closer and whispers in a conspiratorial manner.
"Although, I must admit, my food is cheaper and just as good. And she's a bit of a gossip."
(Back to normal volume)
"Anyways, ale you said? 2 silver, if you would. Water's on the house. Anyone else?"
(Feel free to order something, or just to try to interact with some of the other patrons. You see what appears to be a few caravan guards, some local employees of various businesses, and a few other travelers.)

"I'll take one," Lasair replies having spotted the bulk of the party heading to the shop and coming over to join. "The Swing Sword is nice," she adds. "I've stayed there since I came to town," she adds next with a nod at Tyrael then a soft smile to the others then looks around the tavern. The Helm and it's patrons intimidated the young druid before and that's why she found the Sword more accommodating in more ways than one. "Where have you traveled from again? I'm sorry I seem to have forgotten," she adds flicking a swath of her firey red mane over her leather-clad shoulder with a brilliant smile at the group.
OOC: Not sure who's all 'here' yet so I'll leave that vague.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Jairus would have fell in eagerly with the others, awkwardly trying to pose and seem confident and dangerous, though he is clearly uncomfortable in the presence of more seasoned seemed adventurers. Though he has found he hates the taste of ale when offered it by Zhentarium members, he wants to seem like a grizzled adventurer, so he says in a nasally voice, "I'll have an ale. Love a good ale."
His comment from earlier, noted in the wrong context, would likely take place in this scene, to the Dragonborn, "I noticed you before. I ain't never seen nothing like you."
Tyrael can’t help but crack a smile at Lasair. “My family is in Neverwinter, but I haven’t been home in years. It sounds like you’ve been in town for a few days already?”

Jairus will grimace when drinking the ale, clearly not enjoying it. “Good, real good, love me some ale,” he says unconvincingly.
He awkwardly speaks to Lasair without looking at her directly. “Girl from the city, err, the village near where I grew up, she had red hair. Not like yours. More half red half brown. Auburn or somethin’? I dunno. Anyway, uh, yeah.” He takes another sip of the ale, grimaces, and pushes it back. “Don’t want to overdo it. Gotta stay sharp in case of ambush. Our enemies could be anyone and anywhere.”
Jairus will at some point excuse himself, slipping off to make contact with the town baker, the Zhentarim contact he was instructed to meet, before business hours would close. “I’ll be back with you all before it’s time to set out. Gotta do some recon. One of you can finish the ale off. It’s not as strong as the stuff I’m used to.” He clearly sounds like a youth trying to seem tough and seasoned, and likely isn’t fooling anyone,
Flower-of-Ivory says to the innkeeper. Once he explains to her about money (she grew up being given everything she needed) she would hand him one of her gold pieces and be genuinely surprised when he gave her change.
(Forgot to say, the innkeeper introduced himself as Garlen Harlathurl.)
He gets you all your beverages. Once you've been settled for a while, he comes over again.
"So what brings all you fine folk to this old hole in the wall?"
Meanwhile, at the baker's shop, Jarius finds Lorren Mangobarl to be a thin, energetic man. He doesn't have any useful information about the delegation, although he does suggest checking the taverns for travelers that might have seen them. He does, however, give you this tidbit:
"There's an opportunity I've sniffed out for ya, lad. I heard the Mhandyvver's little lass had a scare at a tomb out in the woods. Went an' checked it out, and what'd I see? A goblin!"
He pauses for dramatic effect.
"Ya see, I been thinking about that. My guess, the goblin's got some trap or summin' rigged, and he's guardin' some treasure or somethin'. Couldn't hurt to check it out if ye want some easy gold. I'd recommend you talk ta the little one's mum. Old bird runs a poultry, the one that looks a bit less well-kept than the other."

"Flower-of-Ivory grew up on an estate not far from here. Flower was born in the far away land of Chult. It rained a lot there. Did you know that to the West on the coast (whatever that is) there is a city, bigger even than Red Larch, called Water-is-Deep, where the people ride griffons? Flower captured a griffon once. It appeared on the estate. Flower hunted, stalked, and captured it. Flower does not know what Mistress ever did with it."
She reaches over and picks up the ale left by Jairus and proceeds to guzzle it.
After taking note of the report from the Zhentarim contact, Jairus will return to the bar where his fellow travelers were gathered. He makes an effort to project an air of competence and mystery, as he announces, “My contact heard a credible rumor about a tomb in the woods. Might be guarded by one or more goblins, and trapped as well. I’m trained in finding and disarming traps. It might relate to the missing faction members, or it could be unrelated. Either way, there’s a chance for coin and adventure. An honest to goodness tomb with traps and monsters. Any of you interested in checking it out?”
OOC: There is probably some elapsed time before Jairus’ return.
"I got here early this morning but made sure to look for a room as soon as possible," Lasair answer Tyrael. "I've never been to Neverwinter or Waterdeep but I've heard of both," Lasair replies next looking to Flower curiously as a druid the tabaxi is fascinating and she's never been this close to one before. "Do you want some company," she asks Jairus too late as the man she realizes has left. Distracted by Flower she waited too long to ask but looks up when tbe barkeep comes over. "Oh, I taking in the sights," the young druid answers the beekeeper next, "waiting on our companions," she adds. "You fascinate me," she then says druidcraft ing a flower for Flower she hands over smiling at the big cat.
As soon as the adventurers entered the Helm at Highsun, the pale eyed girl froze, completely shocked at the sights--and smells--of a genuine, honest-to-goodness city tavern. The tavern at her hometown of Silverrest was never THIS busy!
"Let's get to work."
After stifling a cough from the suffocating air, she shook her head away of thoughts from home and stalked the shadows to eye the caravan guards, checking if they had taken the town heirloom and slipping on a pair of blacksmith's gloves to avoid touching anything...weird.
If there was nothing to see, she would return to table of adventurers she walked down the road with. But definitely keeping the gloves on.
Listening to Jairus' story, Tyrael looks around at the others. "I'm not here for money or adventure, but a goblin lair close to town sounds like a risk they don't need. I'm interested in going and seeing what they are up to at the very least, and we can decide then what to do with them." Throwing the refilled water skin in his pack and sliding his chair back, he says, "I can leave now, but if we're not in a hurry I'll cross the street to the Swinging Sword and secure a room for myself."

"You do what you gotta do, before we head out," Jairus responds to Tyrael. "Anyone else who wants to come, I've got a good eye for traps, and if any of you can get into the goblin's faces and distract them, I can use this little number to fire one off where it hurts." Jairus gestures to the others, inviting them to make their preparations and follow him to the tomb.
OOC: If the tomb was described as being a ways from town Jairus would buy rations, bedroll and blanket in town, otherwise, he would not.
Kaylessa, the owner of the Swinging Sword, gladly takes your money for a room. While taking you there, she talks about all the rumors and gossip surrounding the town. Most of it is odd speculation about roving monsters or bandit camps with no details, but she does mention something interesting—she thinks that the source of all the odd happenings is a cavern in a local landmark known as Lance Rock. There've been a few odd happenings there abouts, and she offers you 50 gp and a free room if you check it out.

"Flower-of-Ivory will come. I have never seen a live goblin. This will be fun."
Posturing to sound tough, Jairus puffs out his narrow torso and rests a hand on his light crossow. "Come with me, Flower, and you'll see some dead goblins." He waits until everyone has made their preparations and is ready to set off.
"Kethra," Lasair calls out to her fellow wildling, "over here," she flags down the barbarian with a smile. She then hears Tyrael speak. "Goblins," Lasair exclaims making a disgusted face, "they're always trouble," she adds. "I'll follow," she adds nodding firmly. "Who are we missing? The holy man, yes? He was a lovely color bronze. Longen?" She says half sure of herself looking around the bar to spot him.

"Never-Winter? I read that the gardeners there are so skilled that they keep them blooming even through the snow!"
When Flower sees the flower created by Lasair, her go wide as saucers.
"Fire-Mane, you are a wizard? Like my Mistress?" she exclaims as she takes the flower from Lasair.
Replying to Jairus,
"Flower-of-Ivory will come. I have never seen a live goblin. This will be fun."
