(OOG- Sorry my weekend was busier than I had intended it to be, I wish I had a day to recover from the weekend before coming to school today. That or I taught preschool so we could have nap time, and I would participate in the nap.)
"I don't remember. But why are you here? Is it to tell more lies, or take more of my things!" The ghost looks both angry and confused.
Talinial you can tell that this is what some call a Hollow Spirits. They are spirits who have been pulled back to the material plane after a long time spent in one of the afterlife planes. They are known to come back with little to no knowledge about their past life but when they see things that start to have memories they come in waves normally with a lot of overwhelming emotions. They tend to go mad if they are unable to return to the afterlife plane that they belong to.
Talinian considers intervening but decides that Mialee has the matter in hand for the moment. "Bones," he says quietly, "I believe that thing is a hollow spirit." He then relates what he knows of the things.
(OOC - so I'm guessing Eyes of the Grave just highlights the firbolg as well? Nothing else shows up?)
Bones shrugs, "Well, we need to return it home to the plane it originated from. Trying to kill it seems one such path, and I have no spells with which to return it simply. Unless we can ascertain what brought it back here to the material plane and somehow help it and so send it back to its home plane?"
“It’s okay not to remember sometimes. I know it can be a little confusing, though.” Mia would offer an apologetic nod the ghosts way. “We are here because someone asked us to help. We were told things have been going missing.” Her eyes would soften, “Have yours been going missing too?” She’d ask calmly, trying to gently engage with the ghost in a way that would not aggravate it, perhaps even keep it calm. Mialee even considered offering to perform for it if that could help.
"MY things went missing, they are here now, but they have everything wrong." The Ghost moves to the display text and starts to read. “Strong as Oak was a fierce warlord. His size added to his power on the battlefield. Strong as Oak had few enemies after carving out his place in the wilds. What enemies he did have ran in fear from his presence on the battlefield.” he stops reading and sighs “I was no war lord, I remember that I was Strong as Oak but I had no territory. I lived in the wild but mostly on my own, my children, who are on the floor below, they lived with me, as did our pet bears. The weapons and armor in the other room were not mine for battle, well this one was.” and he lifts up the great axe in his hand, you notice it does not have the ghostly shimmer that other things have. “The others were left by those who thought that they would try their might with me. The tapestries I made most of them, the art work too, at least I think, I don’t remember what all I made and what all were gifts for things I did for others.”
"If we helped to correct this museum's displays and information," Bones says as he looks over the display text, "Do you think that would put you at ease? Bring you peace?"
"I don't think so. I had no reason to come back. I was more pulled back. When I came to there was a... a, ummm I'm not sure, but they wore that." And Strong as Oak points at Talinian's robes.
Talinian frowns and steps forward. "I am sorry for any pain my...colleagues have caused you. What color were the robes they wore? How many were there?"
Listening to this story, Pietersite mutters to himself: "Mages, always messing with the natural order of things..." The group has gotten some good answers from the ghost, and he thoughts up one of his own: "Do you know anything about the items taken from here over the past few weeks?"
"Where is that? Why do they belong there?" Bones says. "Would you not want the people of this town and the world to know about you? About your adventures and your life? Granted, they have some details wrong, but with your help, we can correct the curators here. Your things are simply on display for people to admire what you were."
"Strong of Oak, we value knowledge and believe in setting things right." Mia would add gently. "Please trust us to do so for you, so you may be at peace." She'd nod in agreement, ready to inspect the hidden room with the others.
Bones nods, "I can understand the want for the dead to rest. Well then. Show us this hidden room so that we can start to peace together this mystery and hopefully put you at ease."
"The hidden room is about a day's walk, and I will show it to you when you show me that you are getting the facts right here, AND can help me get back to restting.
Mialee would blink. She'd look to the others. What are we missing? She'd look back to the piece of interest that the ghost was looking at and inspect it closer. Maybe she missed something before?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talinian nods. Perhaps whatever spell or ritual resulted in Strong as Oak being summoned to this building could be discerned by the residual magic or perhaps some symbols. He shares his thoughts with Bones, then,
"Strong as Oak, do you remember the room in this building your were first summoned to?" Talinian decides that, once he has that information, he will again ritually cast Detect Magic and then scour the building, starting in the room named by Strong as Oak or this room if the spirit cannot tell him the other. He is looking for residue of summoning magic, necromancy and any symbols, runes, glyphs, anything which might be applicable. If they can locate that, perhaps they can break the link and let the spirit rest. As he starts, he asks for Guidance from Bones and for his assistance in the search (ooc for Advantage).

"They were your collors, they were smaller than you, thinner, shorter." Strong as Oak answers Talinian.
"MY THINGS! My things that I took back to where they belong!" Strong as Oak is angered by the question from Pietersite.
