Yeah there is all kinds of things that can be found for all kinds of things that you know of Bones. based on the region you are in there is nothing specif that rings a bell. You get the feeling that you were not lied to but perhaps she was.
(OOC - Would Bones be able to discern what the potion is with his herbalism skills? Or would that be more an alchemy toolset?)
"Well, I'm not sure what herbs she would have gone for in that region," Bones says to the others after he and Mia finish their investigation, "But perhaps she lied to the injured mage. Though I still get the feeling that she went that way, but just covered her travel under the guise of herbalist. I say we collect what we need and make our way. She has a head start, but perhaps with our horse and cart we can make up some time."
So when you go to meet Xamyra, she is an old Gnome woman. She has long curly snow white hair. A rugged pinkish skin with the blackest eyes you have ever seen. She has a little bit of old lady fat going on, but it also covers her once strong body. Talinian you most likely meet her on more than one occasion. She might never have taught you one on one, but she would have taught you in a class session or two, but she wouldn't recognize you whatsoever. In her old slow frail voice she would say “I am sorry Talinian but started forgetting student’s names before you were born.” Once introductions were done you would all start to head to the cart, Xamyra more than slowing you down, one of you would run ahead, get the carriage, bring it to the school, and still wait for a minute or two before she was at the cart. Helping her in was not an issue and you all start to head off. How much information do you share with her? Any RPing that you want to do with her?
Talinian smiled. "There is no need for sorry, honored Teacher. It is enough that I remember your classes. I am honored you will accompany us." He pauses then, remembering something. "But tell me, did you ever finish your study of Carric's Tome of the Hidden Way? That name always seemed to me somewhat...excessive for a book on the powers and properties of illusions. Almost as though Carric discussed a monkish philosophy."
"Yes Carric did, I have not finished. It takes me more time to get things done now a days. Old age has finally started to get it's claws into me and slowed me down a bit. Naps are a little more frequent." She moves slower than you do remember, and while riding she does fall asleep for short times from here and there, but she greatly reminds you of a sweet old grandma. If she were to ask you if you were hungry she would make you a huge meal even if you said no, and probably gave her grandchildren a few copper pieces every time she saw them.
I have been working on a longer post, but do not have it finished. With this being fathers day weekend, and being a father, I do not get to decide what I am doing, so I will not get to posting until monday.
To say that Xamyra is motherly would be an understatement. She is more grandmotherly, and over the top with it. She has a sweet tale for every thing that happens along the trip, every stop she makes food that is delicious. And of course she takes naps. After a day and a half of travel Xamyra suggests slowing down, “We should start to look for clues, this is where I have always suspected the battle took place.” After a few more hours of travel the old woman shocks everyone by jumping off the wagon with the grace of a trapeze artist. She runs to a point just inside the tree line and stops. You all join her, she is looking at a set of rocks and sticks. “This way.” She says and points deeper into the woods, and then starts to walk, in the fashion that she used when leaving the school. You all follow her deeper into the woods (I will assume that you first bring the wagon in the best that you can and tie it off.) Every so often Xamyra stops moving, and looks about, she then finds yet another thing of rocks and sticks. And slightly adjusts the direction she is heading. Out of seemingly nowhere the forest gets darker, and a little scarier. I need everyone to make an Intelligence save, DC 14, on a fail you may continue to move forward, you are however frightened, but not of anything, but of everything at the same time.
Mechanically on a fail you have parts of the frightened property, everything is at a disadvantage, I will have you recheck a few times.
You move through the dark woods farther and farther, wolves howl, owls hoot, and other animals that you might or might not know are out making noises, Xamyra continues as she was, stopping looking around, and then continuing. Then you all stop one last time, Xamyra puts her hand out in front of her as if it is on a wall, “She found it, now how do we get in?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talinian looks around, then closes his eyes, his wizard senses questing outward. His mind sifts through all the clues, the sights, sounds, smells, everything. What had Xamyra seen or felt?
Arcana 14
"Yes, Xamyra, what did she find? The battle site, or something else? And, what is there to get in?"
(OOC - ah my bad. I misunderstood.)
While the others gather supplies, Bones sits with Mia pouring over notes and books to find any hint of what herbs might lie to the north west.

Talinian is a little shorter on coin than he thought, so he asks the others if they want the greater healing potion or the hill giant strength potion.
"Marigold, what does this potion do?" the tiefling asks.
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
"Well I would love to know when you all are done with it. But I think it might... take your breath away." She says with a smile.

I'm going to say no you can not, seeing as it is one she has made on her own, and is kind of a new thing.

So are we buying any potions?
Do you want to go and get your companion?

Bones can brew some as they go and has a few on hand already, so he's good.
Talinian takes the healing potion and the mystery one and then they go to get their companion and set off.

Bones will keep an eye out as they travel for herbs and the like for creating his potions (Perception: 14 & Nature if you want it: 23).
