Bones strokes his beard as he ponders the casket. "An interesting find. You know, the warning note only furthers my curiosity as to what is in this buried box. I mean, imagine what great knowledge we might find in there? Would it not be worth it?" He further investigates the box, looking closely at it for any inscriptions or runes (since there is no obvious lock) (Investigation: 11).
Talinian watches as the gnome looks over the box. "Great knowledge? Perhaps. We cannot know. I will look over the box, as well, but would appreciate everyone's assistance and more of that magical guidance you have, Bones."
ooc: Talinian will try to Investigate too, with advantage and Guidance from Bones. 24 + 2
After looking over the box, he says to everyone, "Yes, we cannot know but what we do know is it was locked away for a reason. Of course, we have no sure knowledge on that. Mia," he turns to the paladin. "I would appreciate that aid you can give. And let's all pool what we know about this battlefield."
ooc: What he'd like to do is roll history on the field and/or on any legend about magics being locked away after a battle, with advantage and Guidance. Is that History or Arcana
What you know is that there was a LOT of magic being used in this war. You know that there were wizards, on both sides, who started to dabble in darker magic than most normally would. The other big thing at the time was trying to put multiple types of magic together. Wizards, sorcerers, and other sages were in an arms race.
I mean I'm not sure that there is anything more that can be given, the box is magical, and you can see the magic flowing out of it when you use detect magic. There is no visible means of opening it. You would most likely assume that there are a few powerful magical items inside, which is why you can't tell what kind.
After examining the box for a time with Bones, Talinian stands up and ties it to his horse. "Well, for now, let's make camp. I see no way to physically open it which leaves magic and I'm not sure we should even try." He looks with fond exasperation at Bones. "Even with your unending thirst for knowledge, this perhaps is one fount of wisdom we should perhaps avoid."
Xamyra looks up for the first time sence finding the box and speaks, "I have thought long and hard on this, it will be taken to Golin and Oriteath, we will move it to The High Campus so that it may be explored and answers found." She then grabs her bed roll and throws it out, "A watch might be needed for her," as she points with her head at Falami, "But I don't think that anything can really attack us here. I'll take last watch." She then lays down on her bed roll to sleep.
Talinian looks at Bones and Mia, the question "Are we going to allow that?" clearly in his eyes. Then he quirks his and raises an eyebrow. Then he points at his chest and shakes his head, indicating the negative.
That answers my question, Talinian thinks. He only really asked Bones as a formality. He already knew the gnome's answer. When Xamyra doesn't react, he draws the others away from both prone figures.
"I think she's asleep, Mia," he says softly. "I agree. The box is ours and I have no intention of handing it over. We will either hide it again, or open it and see what it contains. But it is ours to decide. Now...any thoughts on how to get it open? I could try to dispel the magic on the box. What's inside should be safe. If it were that easy to destroy the magic contained therein, there would have been no need to seal it away."
Bones shakes his head, "I cannot think of anything at my disposal that would open it. I'm inclined to agree that if the box were to be dispelled of whatever enchantments are upon it, that the items inside should be safe. You wouldn't happen to know a spell of arcane locks at all, Talinian? I do not have one, but have heard of a spell that can open doors and locks simply enough."
(OOC - talking about Knock specifically but there may be others.)
Talinian shakes his head. "I do not have that spell, though I doubt it would be sufficient to the task. Perhaps we should just take Falami and return to the school and leave Xamyra to find her own way back," he suggests. "I would prefer to avoid a confrontation with her." He sighs then. "OK. We no longer have the choice of leaving the box here. If Xamyra permits us to there is nothing stopping her from returning and claiming it. We still need to decide if we are going to open it but we can make that decision later, even assuming we find the means to do so. Let us take what rest we can, keeping watch on Falami and Xamyra and guarding the box. I think Xamyra is correct and we shall not be troubled by anything else."

Bones nods, "Rest and then figure out our movements."
Once they've organised the watches and everything, Bones will take his watch through out the night, but will quietly get out the Book of Blood and Power and flick through it to see if he can find anything of use or interest that might help with the box (Investigation: 18 or if Arcana +3 to that roll).

ooc: You didn't respond to either Bone's Investigation or mine. Is there writing on it? Seams? Do the contents move? Anything else at all?
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
The note is written on it, sorry for that confusion, there are no seams, there is some shifting but not a enough to really notice.
Sorry I thought I had responded to it with more than just the history.

(Sorry was a bit confused on the ask. Do you mean are we going to allow her to take watch?)
"I'll be covering the watch." Mia would say firmly to Xamyra. "Should you insist to join me, so be it."

OOC: No, I mean are we going to let her take the box. By the terms of the agreement we made, it belongs to our Team.

(Okay. Makes sense.)
She walk up to Xamyra. "And, the box." Mia would make a gesture with her hand for it to be passed over. "By the agreement, it belongs to the team."
