A mental rumble and a reluctant sounding 'no' had been the only response to Tic's suggestion of translator. After a few moments more, he'd direct a mental 'but thanks' while outwardly pacing and seeming to digest Everlast reply... such as it was.
"That is... how..."Xemnez looks flabbergasted soon after seeing the fruits of Nuzej fairly simple approach to things. But as much as he looked to have a number of questions to ask, the golden furred Leonin shook off the thought to see if anything came of his brother's plopping down as well. Unlike with Nuzej, the usually slow to act Leonin stood more at the ready near his brother, leery of any magical backlash despite having earlier sat in a seat himself without issue.
Nuzej stands up, and the door remains. However, after a minute it closes on it's own volition, the magic portal collapsing into nothing, while the cloud of rotating stars slowly fades back into view. Thryius decides to test the chairs, while his golden brother stands at the ready nearby. When the Leonin abruptly sits down.....nothing happens.
Nuzej sits once again and the magical doorway once again shimmers into view.

Simaal speaks up "Well nothing ventured, nothing gained, or so said someone who is now dead.... That said, can't live forever either. After I'm in, sit up and wait for door to close. I'll see if there's a mechanism to open it from the other side. If I don't manage to open in say a quarter of an hour, you can open it up again." Simaal ensures his shield is back on his hand, and wield his spear as he enters the doorway. Once on the other side he'll tell the group over the mental link (without looking back through portal) "Can you hear my mindspeak?". Once doorway closes, he'll say "Can you hear my mindspeak oh those who are still in the chair room?"
Wearily Simaal dodges inside the doorway furtively looking in all directions trying to avoid blows from golems, dancing swords, or uhm... liches... he sighs and wonders why did I just do that....
Xemnez growls lowly, and if need be would try to put a paw on Simmal's shoulder to prevent him from entering through the portal(once reopened) to hastily. "Not alone you will, Spearman. Tic?" He turns on the clone. "You mind joining him? At least so if there's any mage shecannery in the meantime, something that even blade might not help with, we don't needlessly lose one of our own."He request, though his tone for a change bordered more on the commanding side. "Otherwise, best we all go through and not... risk repeating my previous overzealousness before."At that, he looks pointedly at Simmal. "Not that I do not trust you to be able to handle yourself. But-..."He leaves the words hanging there with a meaningful look.

"I'll keep an eye on Nuzej. Who knows what else can happen here, it's better to be sure you still have a way back."Thryius was the only one who knew what they were looking for anyway.
Simaal pauses as the furry one speaks. "Oh don't get me wrong, not that I wouldn't mind having some company on the venture through the portal, it was my idea, and since it's unknown what's there we can't even use the best suited for the job on it. Nonetheless some should stay here to look after the portal keeper errr opener so it's good at least one other will stay here.""
Mentally "Most should stay with the stoned mage, once portal closes, someone may decide to trap us up there and it would be the optimum time to whittle us down."
Tic looks up at Xemnez's unintentional, but commanding tone, and nods quickly, "Ya, of course. Good idea. Let's go Simaal!"
Simaal and Tic step through the portal together. You can continue to watch them as they visibly stand in the room. Simaal's mental thoughts come to you easily, at least with the portal open, your mental connection still works. The two look around the room, and then peer over the edge of the balcony to the room below. Tall 2 story tall windows look out of the icy cave and over the ruins of the city. A private library is here, with a huge desk and magical paraphernalia, books, and papers scattered everywhere. Unlike the library below, this room seems to have faired better against the destruction of ice and time, and there are a lot of intact looking materials.
A soft groaning sound emanates from above the two of them. They both glance upwards to the ceiling directly overhead. A shadowy, door-sized rectangle hangs directly above Tic and Simaal. And then it stretches down onto them....to cling to the floor, and then the rest of it flops down onto them both. Its shadowy form feels insubstantial as it attempts to blanket them, but their skin tingles and senses swim as they feel the distinct stomach turning twist of teleportation.

Mirica promised to keep an eye on Nuzej (especially after everyone else jumped into the "door") but of course, she was looking through the portal. The appearance of the attacking shadow made her send a ball of radian flame towards it, a purely instinctive move, that had to be harmless (enough) to Simaal coveter by the thing.

Upon listening to his brother's plan, Thyrius had not interrupted. He watched Simaal and Tic go into the portal and be immediately attacked. He was not happy about not being selected to scout ahead, but this was all the excuse he needed to stop waiting. "Brother,"he says mentally. "Time to test our chain of brotherly portal traveling, or whatever that arcane tether was called."He then sends four announcements into the portal before jumping though with hopes the leash connecting him to Xem would save the golden lion the need to jump in himself.

The shadowy form now stuck to the floor is encased in a bright flare of holy fire, just before a transparent ghostly hammer appears and slams into it, making the blackness shudder. Then Thyrius lets loose with a barrage of magical blasts, each beam, a crackling explosive blast of energy. With a sudden twisting implosion, the blackness is gone. Thyrius leaps through into the room, next to Tic. His brother is not "pulled" with him....leaving the logical conclusion that likely the portal leads to somewhere on the same plane. Nuzej can see through the doorway with his seat.
Tic looks around, "Umm......where'd Simaal go?" Toc comes running up from the sound of battle...and asks for a debrief.
The battle seems done, but your companion seems to have vanished. Worse, your mental connection with him seems to be broken.
Nuzej stands up from the chair and observes the door to see if it lasts.
If the door disappears once Nuzej stands back up…
“Show me the chair for necromancy,” Thyrius requests. “It might be worth checking how wide a net do the terms ‘specialist wizard’ cast.”
Once led to the appropriate chair, Thyrius sits and braces for the worst. (Dodge action, if allowed).
