Definitely some kind of elf, chained to the hull with a lock.
<Release me> it says to Molo in a language other than Common. Then, in another language, it repeats in a calm but pleading voice, <Let me go.>
FinFIn should be able to make it to the Tower - and maybe back again - by then end of your short rest. (Anyone besides Dain and Fianna taking a short rest?)
At the Tower FinFin would be searching for (Fireborn was it?) or anyone them and Fianna recognize. FinFin (rather Gianna through FinFin) would explain the current situation and their location. “We none of us are sailors,” she would say in conclusion, “and are lucky to have stopped the boat, we cannot return there with it. We need trained sailors to come and take charge of the ship...”
FinFin arrives at the Tower, and tries to deliver the message, but the old doofuses at the Tower still aren't quite able to focus or process the words coming out of the pseudodragon's mouth. They are reacting to this strange, talking creature with a mixture of amusement, curiosity, and anxiety. "Look at it talk!" they exclaim with nervous laughter. Fianna should roll a Persuasion or Intimidation to try to get through to them.
Dain intends to rest, but is interrupted by Kelnan, who needs some help.
Molo stares down this strange elf chained to the hull in the secret compartment. Katernin has joined him, and finds she can understand one of the two languages he is trying to speak: Elvish. "What did you do with the officers and crew of this vessel?" he asks. Molo understands him, but cannot reply. Katernin may.
Exasperated, Fianna dismisses FinFin out of existence and sighs. “We”re on our own. Saltmarsh is useless and refuses to help.”
After her rest, Fianna calls Elbow over. “You think you direct us on how to get this little boat in the water? I’m thinking it’s time we get to dry land and choose a direction and find a city that doesn’t have its head up its butt.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With a little brute force, Dain manages to smash open the desk drawers that Kelnan indicated. Dex check: 10
...but manages to apply force carefully enough to avoid damaging any of its contents.
The first drawer contains two potions (which Kelnan's ritual, about to flare out, determines to be of an arcane nature), a vial of black liquid, and a key. The second drawer contains a set of maps. There are also ink-stained papers on the trays on the desktop.
Kelnan pockets the potions for the time being, swirls around and pockets the black liquid, hmph, can always use some more ink, and examines the map. He'll also try to salvage any readable documents. The key he assumes went to the recently pilfered chest, but he'll try it on the chest in the other cabin anyway if there's nothing else in this room it might fit.
The elf responds to Katernin, relieved to find someone who can understand him. He replies in Elvish:
"A few days, I suppose? It's so dark in here. They brought me foul food three times, and a cup of brackish, stale water about six times. Are you allies or foes of the humans who operate this vessel? Will you release me?"
Meanwhile, Kelnan sorts through the papers in and on the desk. The ink-spattered papers include bills and receipts for various items of marine supply. There are also several letters of a personal and intimate nature from three different women in three different ports (each of whom seems under the impression that she is the sole wife of Sigurd “Snake Eyes“ - evidently the captain's name and nickname), and a curious, semiliterate document requesting a further supply of ironware “as per previous consignments and at the agreed terms.” The signature here is in the form of a pictograph and shows a lizard with forked tongue extended. The seven maps depict various sea and coastal localities, prepared by professional cartographers. Beneath these is another map, crudely drawn. This map indicates an "X" at a small promontory beside a river in the tidal marshes, roughly ten miles southwest of a town marked "Saltmarsh".
He tries the key on the chest next door - it doesn't fit.
Katernin smiles, "Foes," she says, "we came here to stop these pirates from interfering with the nearby town of Saltmarsh. I see no issue with releasing you, though I'll have to find the key."
She looks to Molo, "Do you know where the key is?"
"My name is Oceanus," he says. "I am a member of the tribe of Manaan, which inhabits an undersea settlement about twenty miles southeast of Saltmarsh."
"My tribe has noted, from a distance, the periodic travels of this vessel at night along a supposedly deserted coastal area. Suspicious of this behavior, my chief ordered me to keep watch on this area, slip aboard when the ship arrived, and follow the ship back to its port of origin to discover what I could of these strange proceedings. This I did, and while in port I witnessed the stowing aboard of a small arsenal of weaponry. But I was discovered, knocked out, and taken prisoner. I awakened here in this compartment, chained to the ship’s hull. They stripped me of my weapons and armor. Do you have it?"
Molo has no keys, nor Dain (nor Katernin, for that matter. Fianna and Kelnan, on the other hand...) (As far as I recall, that is - correct me if I'm wrong)
"Keys? Oh, pulled some out of various pockets before kicking the bodies overboard... They should be over there," Fianna says, pointing to a spot a bit ways off on the deck.
Dain helps Kelnan look over the old maps and papers.
"Methinks 'tis starting ta make more sense," he comments to the elf. He picks up the curious, semiliterate document requesting a further supply of ironware “as per previous consignments and at the agreed terms.” "This looks ta me like an order for weapons or similar. There is a crate of missing mining tools in the hold." He then picks up the other map, crudely drawn. This map indicates an "X" at a small promontory beside a river in the tidal marshes, roughly ten miles southwest of a town marked "Saltmarsh". "Me guess is that X marks the spot where the lizard creatures lair. 'Tis only ten miles away from the city. If there are a lot a dem, and if they be aggressive, and armed with weapons, they'd be a threat to the city."
"I wonders what Katernin is getting out of that strange elf-like creature below. Has yer ever seen its like before?"
After her rest, Fianna calls Elbow over. “You think you direct us on how to get this little boat in the water? I’m thinking it’s time we get to dry land and choose a direction and find a city that doesn’t have its head up its butt.”
Elbow points to a crude winch arm affixed to the port rail. "Yeah, I can lower the boat. Ye' want me do it now? Jus' need somebody t' help me lift."
Kelnan and Dain are in the captain's cabin on the top deck; Fianna and Elbows are nearby on the main deck. Molo and Katernin are down in the lower cabins with Oceanus.
"Kill 'em all" squawks the parrot.

Dain is also (short) resting. He is feeling quite bruised.

Kelnan, frustrated by the locked desk, goes looking for Dain to apply some muscle.
He's not particularly interested in resting, but will if the rest need to.

"We... well," Katernin seems stressed, but replies in elvish, "we were asked to get rid of these pirates, so we did just that."
