Jhazaal sits in his normal corner, just shaking his head at the white-beast-man's pacing. He would be interested in the not-man, metal-guy, sitting to one side, wondering how such a being worked.
He would probably be close to Bupiddo, chatting with the other prisoner as they sit together. He would be trying to see if the other had any idea of where their gear was stored, any more information on the others in the pen with them, etc. As one of the more talkative prisoners, Bupiddo seemed the best source of information to Jhazaal.
The beast responds to Knox's query by giving him an expressionless stare with its pitch black eyes and a short grunt. It then turns to Vera, with a puzzled look on its face. It opens its mouth, as if to speak, but only a rasping cough comes out. After a few moments of attempting to speak, the creature manages to get out a single, weak word.
"Hhh... ow?"

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Brio spends most of the morning trying her best to take care of the two young deep gnomes. Once she has done what she can for them, she turns to Knox and says, "A cleric of Gond, you wouldn't be able to work any magic in here could you? No? Figures. So how did you end up down here?"
She will also turn towards the large white creature and says, "Come sit, you will want to save your energy for the day ahead. May as well spend this peaceful time resting and learning to talk again."

Finishing her morning routine, Vera sees that the large creature had stopped his pacing and had started staring at her; Odd she thought before it managed to croak out... a word? "Are you talking to me big guy?" she asked slightly nonplussed, her curiosity peaked.

"My city was ransacked by the drow summoning demons in it years ago. I got separated from my family as we fled the city and wandered into tunnels I didn't know. For years I survived down here on my own until one day, a drow patrol stumbled upon my home and ambushed me."
"The more I learn about these drow, the less I like them. They seem more destructive, then constructive, in the balance."
"Although this outpost's construction is fascinating. I imagine magic or innovative technologies were needed. It would be wonderful to get to witness something like that in the future."

Nothing about the drow, not with a drow sitting right there with them.
The beast nods silently at Vera, opening his mouth to speak again.
"S-...said "use...ful". How?"
OOC: @WoobyDoobyDoo, Vera actually said the useful line in her heard but I'll play it off that she accidentally said it out loud ;)
How did he...Shit I must've said that out loud! Looking directly at him, at least she believed it was a him, Vera beckoned him closer wary of any guards that may pass by. "I don't plan on being here long and you look like someone who fancies the same." she began in a hushed voice, "There are a couple of other people locked up with us that I suspect might be helpful in getting us all out of here. You in?" Holding out her hand - hoping that he understands the sentiment or anything she just said for that matter - she finishes with, "Vera, a pleasure." hoping that he'll reciprocate in kind.

"May...be. U-... un...armed. N... need wea...pon."
At least he understands me she thought positively to herself before slapping him congenially on the back "I'm sure we can find something that'll do or steal something from a guard." Hearing footsteps approaching she quickly adds "Do you have a name big guy?"
(Would there be a way to slip a hand out of the handcuffs by breaking a wrist or some bones in the hand? I assume that would cost some hitpoints if it were possible)
Hearing the others speaking of escaping, Brio reaches under her bedding and reveals an iron bar, "I found this if you need a weapon. I'm afraid without my tools I won't be a big help but if someone else can use this they are welcome to it." She quickly hides it again, "Guards are coming best we stop talking about this."

Knox turns and responds to Brio, first nodding his head then shaking it.
"Yes and no, I am a cleric of Gond and I can't use my magic in here."
"As for my capture, I was unwise and hadn't understood the High Artificers intention when he sent we off with a merchant caravan."
"I didn't know or expect that such hostile beings might appear in the dark of night and drag me away by force."
"Hmm, from the beginning. I was making my first trip outside of Baldur’s Gate, heading to Waterdeep."
"The High Artificer had organised for me to accompany a merchant caravan that was also heading there."
"We travelled all the way to Daggerford without incident and the caravan wanted to stay a day and trade there before moving on to Waterdeep."
"I though I would be safe to travel ahead on my own, but I was wrong."
"I had made camp for the night and had all my tools out and was cleaning and sorting through them when a net was suddenly dropped over me."
"I couldn't even see who my captors where until they had dragged me into a nearby cave that I hadn't spotted before."
"They relieved me of my remaining possessions and bound me and forced me to travel through the dark until we arrived here."
"I will do my best not to forget this lesson, do not travel alone, and keep watch for danger when travelling."
"How about you? How did you end up here?"

(Just out of curiosity—are Knox’s lines meant to be heard with gaps in between them, and that’s why they’re separated like that?)

You begin to hear the soft tread of drow feet outside, coming up the passageway.
