"Just the sense that something big... and cold is approaching." she replied to Wendigo, visibly shaking for a moment. "Maybe we should find a place to hide in case something particularly dangerous appears?"
Your travel is uninterrupted once more (assuming you're moving on now) for 5 more days (188178).
Towards the end of your fifth day of travel after the "Ingredient Incident," you spot what appears to be a troglodyte walking towards you in the tunnels. What's odd about him, though, is he doesn't seem to have the same shambling gait of most troglodytes, and also seems to be missing the mindless aggression and hunger.
Before any of you can say anything, however, another chorus of sounds breaks out, this one even more horrifying than the other 2 you previously heard. Demonic screeches resound all around the cavern walls, seeming to come from nowhere and everywhere. You also seem to catch disembodied voices screaming for help, but can't quite make out any words.

Shivering from the cold sensation, Miles looks to the approaching figure and says, "State your business, troglodyte. Do you bring these fell voices with you?"
He then notices Knox's discomfort and moves over to the mechanical man, trying to diagnose his ailment. "Can you move? Do you need your joints oiled?"

Vera, who was distracted by the strange sensation wafting over her, doesn't notice the Troglodyte approaching until Miles spoke out to them. Wondering if the trog might be the cause of her discomfort, she eyes the creature warily as she places her hand on her sword.

Even though the trog seems relatively harmless, after all the weirdness they've experienced so far, Vera stays on alert and calls out to him, "Where are you headed? And do you know of anything particularly dangerous lurking in this area?"
As Miles approaches, Knox remains rigidly still. At Miles question, the low quiet hum coming from Knox' head, gets very slightly louder for a moment, before returning to its quiet drone.
The troglodyte throws back his head and laughs at Vera's question.
"Oh, dearie. This is the Underdark—there's always something particularly dangerous lurking somewhere. But I'm afraid I don't know anything specific. In answer to your question, dear druid, there are . . .strange forces at work currently. Me and my brethren fear there may be some sort of demonic invasion in this plane. None of us know the cause, but we're searching for it.

With the new arrival appearing to be non-threatening, Miles will pull out his cooking kit and look for a bit of grease or leftover oil he might be able to use to help out Knox.

Strangely comforted by this odd Troglodyte, Vera asked, "Would your group perhaps know of a relatively safe haven here in the Underdark where we can recover and figure out what we'll do next? We've had a rough few weeks." (OOC: I think it's been a few weeks but I'm not positive) And while she didn't mention it at the moment, she was more than a little curious about the invasion threat he mentioned as well though she didn't want to badger him with questions just yet.
"Well, Neverlight Grove is generally fairly peaceful. Gracklstugh is peaceful enough if you're a duergar, but I doubt they'd take too kindly to most of you. Bligdenstone is probably your best bet other than Neverlight Grove, and the deep gnomes there would likely know how you could return to the surface if you wished."

"We were on our way to Neverlight Grove before we ran into some trouble though Bligdenstone sounds like an interesting option to go to instead." Turning to her group she asks them, "What do you all think?" Then noticing the halfing doing something strange to the cleric asks, "And... what are you doing to Knox Miles?"
"I think he might have a bad motivator," says Miles, trying to lubricate Knox's jaw, "but if i can get his mouth unfrozen maybe he can talk me through getting him fixed up."

Unfortunately Knox is not like most modern construct designs. Being a Warforged, Knox actually has muscles of a kind, much like traditional organic life. They are made of bundles of wood-like cords or thin vines. This is what made the sound when Knox froze up, all of the muscles tighten up. The grease will definitely have a positive effect on Knox' joints, but those are not what is giving him trouble at the moment. Also, Knox doesn't open his mouth to talk, only to consume things. His vocal noise generator works from the same kind of muscles, and having them all in tension is what is causing him to hum quietly. For the most part Knox appears to be made of metal and stone, but there are spots here and there where some of these wood-like bundles can still be seen (parts of his neck are definitely visible).
Knox remains still as Miles applies the grease to his jaw.
A couple of times, while applying the grease, the hum Knox is generating gets slightly louder, before going back to its quiet drone again.
Wendigo looks at the others, confused.
"...no. Something wrong?"
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
"Just the sense that something big... and cold is approaching." she replied to Wendigo, visibly shaking for a moment. "Maybe we should find a place to hide in case something particularly dangerous appears?"

The trog seems unthreatening, although he also doesn't seem to have been effected by the noises. He blinks at Miles slowly.
"No, my dear halfling. I'm afraid those noises were not my doing."

Miles knows that grease should help metal people, right? But where should he put it? There doesn't seem to be an obvious place to grease.
