The pterafolk don't seem to have noticed anything at all. The group that left in the morning has not returned yet and the three that came looking at you have not re-emerged. The hut is on the northeast side of the plateau while the pterafolk nest is on the south end of it.
Poole returns and eyes the necklace warily, and then will absolutely check out the work room. Looking for any writing, any personal effects from victims, anything at all. She’s pretty sure there is more to this story here.
Once she’s done that she tries to gather the party a bit separate from Ord etc, and asks, in effect, what’s next. “Unless I’m forgetting something, and I’ve been known to do that, we don’t have a next step. We are trying to find this thing that’s making the death permanent. We don’t know where it is or who might know. It feels like months and months since we first got to Chult, so does anyone have ideas or a better memory?”
“The pterafolk are now an open line of negotiation. Their mobility will reduce our own need to explore every square foot of jungle. Additionally, we’ve cleared a place for a base of operations for those soldiers. Perhaps their additional manpower will aid our efforts.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Investigation check for Poole: 6
Poole goes through everything and finds two things: an eye, preserved in a liquid-filled jar. When Poole comes closer to inspect it then it blinks and looks at her. And the other thing is a bottle of most probably a liquor of some sort - stoppered, but still about two thirds full. It looks ancient and has a faded label that depicts a magnificent coin mid-flip and a word or just three letters "O M U". The lower part of the label is gone.
---
After the fire of the hut and all the investigations the daylight is starting to fade when you suddenly hear a whistle up top. Looking around it seems a sizable contingent of pterafolk are circling above. One of them separates and lands fairly nearby. "We will not disturb you if you settle this place again. But stay away from our nest!" And takes flight again.
Everyone gathers and Ord says, "We have achieved our objective of securing this place. We lost some people to a worthy cause. They will be remembered as heroes. Let us make camp and make plans for the next day."
---
You are free to investigate the plateau or start moving or make camp or identify your items or whatever else comes to mind. At the end of it there is a long rest.

Anzirspends the remainder of the light diving into his work. He maps out the ruins on top of the plateau, making quick sketches and notes as he develops a somewhat surprisingly detailed plan of the former settlement that resided here.
Once the light fades, Anzirreturns to camp eats, and goes to bed, engaging in almost no conversation. Once morning arrives, the paladin seems to be back to his normal self.
Poole shows the jar with the eye in it to Irma and Anzir. Same with the bottle to the rest of the group. "Any idea what these are?" She'll spend a short rest with the bottle unless someone speaks up. (Not sure what else needs to be identified?)
She shows a bit of curiosity about what Anzir's doing, though she tries to conceal it.
She's open to scouting, though she thinks the group's on its own given what the pterafolk said about staying away.
There is a ziggurat to the west (the blue triangle)
There's a floating rock to the southeast (the blue diamond)
And Melanthios thinks there's something really far to the south as well, but impossible to tell at this distance (the blue question mark)
Aldani Basin marchland is roughly the shape and size of the green oval.
This was from a natural 1 perception check so maybe we try again tomorrow after camping the night. We don't know anything really about what we're aiming for right? No clues of where we're headed? Apologies if I've forgotten.
Irmalooks at the eye. The eye looks back. Irmatries Turn Undead and the eye doesn't turn away. "It's.. weird and unnatural, but I don't know more."
Looking at the bottle Irmasits down and does a magic-y thing, then says, "Well, it's not poisonous, but seems magical."
Poole sits down with the bottle, looking it over, smelling it, trying to deduce more from the label and using the fading sunlight to see through the liquid. It seems to be similar to wine, but from time to time a bubble forms in the bottom and floats to the top to pop there. The bubbles are small and within the liquid, but it looks as if they're not entirely ... empty. They're like tiny snow globes. The item is definitely magical, but to discern any further effects one might have to take a swig.
There was also the handaxe from the "work room" and a necklace from the hag itself. Taking a short rest to examine the handaxe reveals it to be Corpse Slayer, handaxe. The necklace is a Medallion of Thoughts.
Aurok will sit down near everyone else in a lotus position.
“I believe we should discuss our next destination. I believe the ziggurat to the west may be our next point of interest. The rock to the south is... interesting, but may be unrelated. I’m all ears for our guide to chime in, however.”
Qawasha has stayed away from direct fighting and mostly just explored the plateau and making notes about the surrounding area.
He says, "I have come to an agreement with Ord about bringing the information about this place back to Port Nyanzaru and to the Order contacts there. He believes Camp Vengeance will move here as soon as possible and any new shipments need to know the new location from a credible source."
He continues, "I kept looking at the floating rock and couldn't think of a good way to get up there. It seems to be... hanging I guess.. or just is there well above the treetops. It might very well have a ladder or a rope or an anchor of some kind, but it's not visible from this distance. I'm sorry I cannot offer more guidance. Both places seem easy enough to navigate to so you won't need my help. If you go west then just keep Mbala to your east. And going towards the floating rock is obvious."
"I'm all for the ziggurat. The floating rock seems interesting but I'm can't fly so..."Poole trails off, relishing the quiet. She's fine if Anzir wishes to use the axe. She asks if anyone else wants the medallion -- otherwise she's happy to take it. The potions she hands over to someone who might have more luck finding out what they are.

Melanthios will stay on the outskirts as the rest loot the bodies, seeing if any of the pterafolk come looking.

Anzir takes an interest in the hand axe. "Does anyone mind if I use this?" he says. "At least until we get back to civilization to sell it."
