Creatures in the water within 60 feet of the thessalkraken have vulnerability to acid damage until initiative count 20 on the next round.
The thesselkraken swims deeper into the lake (25ft), breaches the surface and tosses Samogri at Huarache
Fling. One Medium or smaller object held or creature grappled by the thessalkraken is thrown up to 40 feet in a random direction and knocked prone. If a thrown target strikes a solid surface, the target takes 8 bludgeoning damage. If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage and be knocked prone.
The kraken spits acid at the pair.
Acid Saliva (Recharge 5–6). The thessalkraken spits a glob of acid at a point it can see within 60 feet of it. Each creature within 10 feet of that point must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 11 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
"Yes, but that lizard folk was not supposed to be a sacrifice to Dory. Just stand guard then." Etrigan/Thessalar says to the Demogorgon with a sigh from halfway up the stairs, the homunculus giving his face a look of frustration.
(OOC: I´m not saying a giant has darkvision, you misunderstand. When we first met the Demogorgon you called him an ettin, and an ettin has darkvision, hence it would be at least reasonable to think the Demogorgon had darkvision. I know now that it hasn´t got darkvision so we can leave it at that. Is it affected by the gleaming treasure though? Also, I stated in post #3798 that Etrigan retreated up the stairs, but I should specify that he moved to 36, 35 if that is possible)
Sam's magic missiles hit Dory flashing briefly on impact.
<I just plopped everyone down and said move them.where you want, the 10ft thing having no real impact, just a thing it can do that inadvertently created quite a bit of confusion. Ettins not only are giants but derive their name from the word Jotun, meaning "giant" and while in 5e they do have darkvision, it seems like everything in this version does no matter if it makes sense with the lore or not. Elves live in shady forests so they have it. I find it silly, but I accept it. Ettins, though, why? Anyhow... >
The stairs are spiral, I just don't have that icon for the map. It shouldn't affect anything, I'm just mentioning it in case it's relevant.
<lizardfolk are sent into harms way here quite regularly: "With the loss of the sculptors in Thessalar’s service, he believes the temple has lost favor with Moloch. To remedy this, he has requested more lizardfolk to brave the underwater lake and collect gemstones as tribute. Search and salvage gear are normally assigned to the lizardfolk charged with searching the subterranean lake for gems. Before entering the lake, the lizardfolk are blessed by the high priest" "The bottom of the lake is also covered with the cracked bones of the many creatures sacrificed to the thessalkraken, or who ran afoul of it while diving for gems.">
If Huarache is not in the water on his first turn - if I have that right, Dory just doesn't move away from shore. That's just to get 40ft away. This still means Huarache gets Sam thrown at him and the acid spit. He just won't have vulnerability to acid and if anyone else is within 10ft of Huarache, they would also be in range for the acid spit)

Gaze. The ettin turns its magical gaze toward one creature that it can see within 120 feet of it. That target must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw. Unless the target is incapacitated, it can avert its eyes to avoid the gaze and to automatically succeed on the save. If the target does so, it can’t see the ettin until the start of the ettin’s next turn. If the target looks at the ettin in the meantime, it must immediately make the save.
Insanity Gaze. The target suffers the effect of the confusion spell without making a saving throw. The effect lasts until the start of the ettin’s next turn. The ettin doesn’t need to concentrate on the spell.

Barril messages the others, “I’m sorry, I can’t help.”
He will use his 40’ of movement to create separation from himself and the group, trying to maintain more than 60’ distance from the thessalkraken. If there is someplace to hide (cover, not shadow), he will bonus attempt to hide. Stealth: 25. If there is nowhere to hide, he will use his bonus to dash for up to another 40’ to create even more separation.
(He will utilize the walls and ceiling to create separation while trying to stay somewhat close to the party to maintain a viable path of escape back up the stairs should retreat be inevitable.)

Perception 22
Dory can see Barrill hiding behind a squat stalagmite above the silt and pebbles of the beach.. (I'll map it soon eventually) <actually should have been +5, moot this time w/ Nat 20)
Tetrevess targets the center of the inky blackness where the monster was last seen and blasts it with a radiant fireball (again repositioning as needed if we are in range!) 4th level slot Dc 19 Dex or 30 radiant damage (save for half)
"So, are we trying to kill this creature or should we perhaps just retreat?" Etrigan/Thessalar messages the others while peeking down the spiral staircase before unleashing two more purple blasts at the thessalkraken. Eldritch blast:17 Damage:10 Eldritch blast:21 Damage:7 He then retreats out of sight of the tentacled monster again.

<Just looking at the map and getting ready to place characters. Looks like Echo got a melee Attack on the kraken, so she would have needed rhe DC18 Con save vs poison, which I never rolled properly it seems: 29 or half on success.
Where I think everyone is:
Etrigan is in full retreat up the stairs.
Sam in melee range of the kraken's tentacle. (FYI it has 10 tentacles 40ft reach.) These things are so far from each other (potentially) that I think this is viable and I will abide.
Tetrevess is somewhere within 150ft of Dory.
Barrill is as far away as he can get, hiding behind a short stalagmite, so partial cover but not hidden.

The ettin looks nonplussed.
"You say get rid of Arse Agart."
"I no see Arse Agart, just Dory."
"And you want me hurt Dory?!"
"Thesselar very proud of Dory."
"Say so everyday."
Togethrr: "Why you mad at Dory?"
