To the left (North) there looks to be a dead end 60ft. ahead, but a hallway opens to the right after 30ft.
To the right the (south) hallway extends for 100ft before also ending, however there are foor openiongs in the East wall

<Question about Etrigan: does he, as Thesselar, appear to have a homonculus resembling Moloch on his head?>
So.. Monster Manual Expanded 3 just came out. If you'll recall I mentioned Sadie III (the hellhound) was from vol. 2. I also mentioned Shocker Lizards were in the campaign earlier. The new book has shocker lizards and a lot of things that start with "Thessal-". I wonder what I'm going to do with all these empty rooms they draw on my dungeon map...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Etrigan/Thessalar continues the search clockwise by by going north and then west. "Oh no, this is starting to look lika a labyrinth" He message the others. Another perception if needed:17
(OOC: Yes, thanks, forgot to mention that a homunculus sits on Etrigan/Thessalars head doing his facial expressions for him, or at least that seemed to be its purpose :-)
While still playing the part of prisoner, Barril will continue to be on the lookout. Passive Perception: 20 Passive Investigation: 19.
(Not sure how relevant his Outlander background would be in navigating the underground but Barril would utilize his abilities as best he could.)
Feature: Wanderer
You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you.
As you head north, turning east before coming to the dead end, you see down the east hallway a strange magical-mechanical device that struts about like a chicken, and which features a human heart beating madly behind its glass front.
It faces you as you glimpse it, but it quickly turns and heads south. If you opt to continue this way, you'll see another dead end to your left before you hear sounds coming from a room ahead on your right
A deep voice cries out through the open doorway ahead, quickly responded to by a second voice.
“So! You come to honor Emmanuel, right head of the Demogorgon!”
"No! You honor Hebediah, left head of Demogorgon!”
Evidently someone heard the mechanical footsteps of the chicken-walker as it took off down the hall.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Heh, this must be some kind of trickery. The real names of Demogorgons heads are Aameul and Hethradiah...or so I heard." Etrigan/Thessalar messages the others. "I think that the construct that just passed us must be one of my creations." He adds. "Now let´s see who this Demogorgon is, shall we." Etrigan/Thessalar finishes with a mental chuckle as he enters the room to their right (area 35?). Intelligence check with help from Grygaxx to determine the purpose of the robot chicken:16
Various alcoves and side passages around this area hold a foul-smelling clutter of chickens, pigs, and goats kept behind wicker barricades, evidently kept as livestock.
This filthy chamber is occupied by an ettin who is the source of the bellowing. The right head of the creature sports a stylish beard, while the left head has a large, curving mustache. Silver wires extend from a large pouch hanging around the giant’s two necks, connecting directly into his chest. A pig snoozes on the floor at the ettin’s feet.
“Stand still!” one head roars. “My steward Slippy will present you for a formal audience.”
“No! My steward Sticky will present you!”
Both heads then ignore you as they begin bellowing over one another for Slippy and Sticky to attend them.
<Sorry for the delay. I keep getting internal server error messages.>
Additional: you've already heard from Barbados slim the heart of a troll was grafted to him by Thesselar. The chicken walker with a heart in a glass case might be related to that.
The detect magic, surprisingly, doesn't detect anything
From down the hall, you hear the soft plodding of feet rushing to attend to the Ettin. A uniformed boggle adorned with a single epaulet on his left shoulder appears. "
Yes, master." The boggle replies.
"Sticky, present our guests to my greatness. Now!" says the right head.
"Guests? Oh, why certainly your grace, certainly." The boggle asks quizzically, looking around the room, then out into the hall to notice the procession of characters in the hallway.
<I'm assuming you're not hiding since you're all disguised.>
Sticky addresses Thessalar: "Lord Thesellar, to what do we owe the honor of your gracing our master's office?" asks the boggle with a bow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing the silver wires from the pouch on the "Demogorgons" chest Etrigan/Thessalar surmises that this is yet another of his creations. "We can expect this ettin to have extraordinary powers connected to whatever is in that pouch, but perhaps that could work to our advantage." Etrigan/Thessalar messages the others while waiting for introductions. Perception with help from Grygaxx to locate any control panels with any buttons we are searching for:15
"I am here to finally divulge your true purpose." Etrigan/Thessalar says adressing the ettin while the homunculus helps his face to a stern visage. "As a demon lord of the abyss you will now join me and strike a decisive blow in the eternal war, destroying this infernal temple. Come with us and we will now take down this temple and its leaders." Etrigan/Thessalar continues and readies himself to resume the search for the buttons and the leaders of the temple. "I must warn you though, there is a plot hatching against us and enemies might assume my form to try and trick you. They in particular should be destroyed instantly."
If the Demogorgon cooperates the search continues clockwise, taking us southeast I think.
(OOC: Sorry everyone if this seems a messy plan, but turning enemies against each other would be like second nature to Etrigan. Just message if you have other ideas on how to proceed. If we at some point must fight this creature we would likely want to take care of that pouch first.)
<Sorry for the absence. I've just been a bit busy (2 of my kids have birthdays this week)>
The boggle turns to the ettin and stiffly begins to recite the formal introduction he's been trained to deliver with each announced guest. "Presenting the great Master Thesselar, High Pontifex of Moloch, Transmuter, extraordinaire. designer of mimics, owlbears, and rust monsters..."
"I know who he is!" both heads interrupt in unison. The ettin turns both heads toward "Thessalar" and the right head replies "First, you bring me here, tell me 'guard secret room.'"
"Many years I keep room safe. Yesterday, people come, take stones from statue. You come yell at me." continues the left head
"Why? Secret room safe!"
"Nothing gone from secret room!"
"Now, you come and say you want my help.. to do what?"
"Destroy temple? Yesterday it's my fault temple is destroyed."
"Today, you want me to destroy temple."
Again in unison, they conclude: "So, which is it?!!"
"Yes, I´m sorry if it´s confusing for you both. I had to yell at you to keep up appearances. Someone might have listened. It was all a ruse to be able to complete my real mission in this infernal temple. Now forget about yesterday and what else I have told you earlier. Let´s hurry to the secret room now. We are going to take what´s in there with us before we destroy the temple. I have new important tasks waiting for you as soon as we are done down here. Now let´s go before they can prepare their defenses." Etrigan/Thessalar says to the Demogorgon, the homunculus helping his face to a stern and impatient visage, and gestures for it to lead the way to the secret room. "Hopefully the last buttons are in that secret room." Etrigan Thessalar messages the others while waiting for the Demogorgon to lead the way.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: If it is about impersonating Thessalar Etrigan would have advantage due to Actor feat, Otherwise Etrigan will call upon his luck feat to make another roll. 12)
“Hmm. You make me from stone. Give me body on this world. I don’t forget this. “Slippy! You help Thesselar get what he needs.” Hebediah (the left head) demands, adding softly, “I’ll be here.. waiting.“ he greedily eyes the pig at his feet.
“Sticky, make sacrifice ready for Arse-Agard.” the right head (Emmanuel) yells into the hallway.
“Right!” the boggle stands to attention and snaps a smart salute (for a boggle – a modron would be mortified by such a sloppy performance) “ Turning to exit, he gestures to the hall to his right and, with a bow, adds, “Right this way, please.” Before leading the group down the hall to the east, turning south, then left and following the hallway as it turns south again leading to a door, which the steward opens.
The small spartan room, is furnished with a cot and a single chair with a poorly hung curtain on the west wall.
"I'll fetch sticky, if you'll wait here, please." The boggle tells the lizardfplk guard holding the captive human. Drawing back the curtain, he reveals a hidden corridor, with a blue curtain at the other end.
"This way, please." Sticky entreats 'Thesselar' and leafs him through both curtains to another nearly identical room. "Huh? Where is he" the boggle says surprised the other steward is absent. "Just a moment, please." He says as he opens the door and walks into the hallway beyond, calling "Slippy, comevhel Master Thesselar!" to which a similar voice responds, "I'm coming, I'm coming!"
The boggle pops his head around the door frame and apologizes, "sorry, master. He'll be right with you, then departs one more. A moment later, another boggle, with an epaulet on the other shoulder arrives and performs a low bow. Master Thesselar how can I be of service? You wished to retrieve something from the vault?"
(OOC: If it is about impersonating Thessalar Etrigan would have advantage due to Actor feat, Otherwise Etrigan will call upon his luck feat to make another roll. 22)
The deception is a success. He believes he's speaking to Thesselar. He's just not fully persuaded. I think I'm going with this either way. He has agreed to help and given you use of his steward. Check out the boggle stat block if you haven't seen it. Kinda useful.>

Tetrevess thinks to the group-“Brilliant plan, if it works! I’m on board with it.” Out loud, he grunts “kill the impostors” in draconic.
Barril mentally chimes in, “Great plan, let the enemies do the heavy lifting.” As he keeps his head down, maintaining his submissive body language.
