Huarache snaps his fingers to create a small flame, but Omiy stops him from lighting the candle and reminds him of the tomes. "Ooh, right! I'll start reading one, then,"he declares, and sits down to begin reading. It'll take days to finish it, though.
Reading that tome takes 48 hours. If you don't sleep and just read, you could finish it in that time but incur a level of exhaustion.
I think Omiy's warriors will be gone by then, unless she summons more. Also, maybe crafting or scribing could be more productive if you had a magical aid. I have not worked out the clever uses in full, but I'm pretty sure since effects are persistent, you can enhance your stuff, or craft some stuff, that would be useful.
Other than that, once you leave here, where do you want to go? There's the list of baubles (pick 2, 5, 10, or 12 if you do. the rest are lame and pointless), the tall tower, or you could just walk out of Daoine Gloine and never look back. I guess the gate spell invocation candle is also an option, just name a specific place, I heard 'garage', but... then what?
I guess Shutorn could scribe spell scrolls; there's probably magical inks. Magic caffeine or some kind of awakifying potion exists; how else could Huarache have learned so much about engineering? I'm sure he knows what to mix to keep himself going for 48 hours on rare occasions. Also, how would we enhance our stuff? All I got are infusions; would I be able to do something similar with some items?
Also, when Huarache finishes the book, he will collapse in a long sleep, then start taking notes on the magic he can get from other items, and additionally figure out what effects he can put on himself/his stuff with items (I will do that soon, but I *really* prefer to look through the compendium on a desktop, and I've had only my phone for a web browser for 36 hours due to being out of my own home; I can look deeper into this in like 16 hours or less).
DM, how do you rule the use of wish in relation to getting a magic item, or enhancing something you already have, such as making a set of armor +1, +2, or +3. Where I am going at with this is the Luck Blade...
Sure take some time. If it helps you decide, narratively, the tower is where you're headed, but there is value in the other things as well, so there is some choice here.

I did miss it. The wording if Wish seems clear in its intent to preclude its use for the creation of magic items as a standard use. I guess there's one in there, but it probably wouldn't work well beyond the explicitly stated effects.
Ooc: If nobody has interest in any if the other baubkes, I'm porting you onward in the narrative by the end of the day.
wish explicitly states no creation of magic items, however I think it has a lot of other potential uses. For example, it says that "you grant up to ten creatures that you can see resistance to a damage type you choose." As far as the spell goes, this resistance is permanent and cannot be dispelled, and if we cast it multiple times we can make it stack, so anyone wants to take their pick?
If the room also contains one of every scroll, there are many spells that have persisting effects. Such as find greater steed, simulacrum, create homunculus, create magen, and basically other summoning spells as well, as long as someone can cast them.
Actually, here is a list of the baubles, just tell me what you want to do.
1 A royal orb held by a seated king-like figure 2 Delicious-looking fruit being sold in a market 3 An ornate diadem worn by a great lady of court 4 An egg held in the talons of a statue of a large bird 5 The head of a mace held by a gladiator in an arena 6 A ball in a children’s playground 7 One of the eyes in a statue of a devil 8 The lens of a telescope being looked through by an astronomer 9 A jewel spilling from a sack carried by a fleeing thief 10 The centerpiece in a complex mechanical clock in a central square 11 The eye of a squid set within an extensive aquarium 12 A crystal ball held by a statue of a medusa
Found the list.
So while everything’s happening, Huarache’s reading his tome, Omiy’s going to pick up the manual of gainful exercise and binge it. When she gets bored she’ll summon a serpent owl to keep her company, maybe having it read to her telepathically.
After we’re done with the treasure room, anyone wants to check out other baubles? I’d want to see what they have. Probably 2 or 10, number 12 looks a bit dangerous.
Selecting from the bag of baubles the crystal Crimmor pear found in the flooded market, Omiy asks the othjers to help her use the duplicate Apparatus of Kwalish. The portal armature connects with the crystal fruit and opens a new portal in the treasury. This one, unlike the last portal, which was a sphere, this is a flat circle visible from one face and utterly invisible from the other.
Through the portal, you can see a crowded city of impossible geometry, with buildings reaching up to the sky, and more buildings reaching down from above to meet those rooftops. The streets weaving between these buildings are dimly lit. humanoids and other creatures can be seen in windows and on the streets of the bustling city. A close observer might even see a pigeon or a gray-feathered raven (with black wings and head). Iron spikes and bladed fences define the city's architecture. Gargoyles feature prominently as well.
Whooo, Omiy’s going to jump through the portal. Are people trading fares? She’s looking around for weapons, potions, and exotic foods, maybe. What kind of trades are there?
Sigurd slaps his hand to his forehead, shaking his head at all the confusion going on around him. He looks around at everyone else, shrugs, and follows Omiy!
Huarache watches from a distance. He preferred the treasury full of magic items; he knows how to deal with people but would like to stay by himself for the time being.
As you walk through the portal you are greeted by a rusty mechanical person with a single eye, a round body and a humanoid layout of arms and legs. "Light your way?" he offers. A beam of daylight brightens the area where he stands as his eye illuminates at the offer.
(OOC: Sorry for reading ahead, but you do realize that the actual bauble that leads to the workshop is not in the list you are giving us, right? That one was held by an artison in the act of forming it... I don't mind, as I imagine you are going to bring it in at some point, but we don't actually have a chance of getting the right option at this point... Plus you are not actually giving us all of the options of the baubles we would have found as we gathered them all.)
Ooc: The module is very open ended in its writing. I could put the final scene of this game immediately within reach, but there are some major parts we haven't touched on yet.
i am exercising the option of running the adventure in reverse order, one of many options specifically named in the book. I did give the full list of sample encounters and heard an interest in one that was intended by the authors as a one off fight, with some important details open to interpretation or left intentionally vague. I don't really care for it, but i left it and tried to make it worth your while. The way out in my game, which I've been pointing to, is the tallest tower, the thing all the statues were guarding, though one bauble on the list also gets you there. It may be circumvented, but thats the shortest, most straightforward route.
I have a slightly expanded narrative drawn from lore and the characters and events within the Kwalish module. I just now introduced the third hireling from the module who could fit quite nicely into the story. Tge current location also happens to be an actual planar market, with mostly mundane if exotic items, but no shortage of wizards who will sell you magic items (though they are pricey and occasionally hard to find).
An arcana check (DC 16) would reveal to anyone that the guide is a monodrone.
"Welcome to Sigil! Is this your first visit to the City of Doors?" the modron asks. Seeing no sign of recognition, he continues, "The city is bustling this time of day, but as the dabus have never installed street lights, you may notice many light boys with glowing wands lighting the way for visitors. They can help navigate the streets, but I would not advise taking their advice on any matter. Touts will advertise their services as well, and while they may be able to get you to some places you might not otherwise find, only factotums, such as myself can offer officially sanctioned guidance, not only through the city's streets and markets, but the social hierarchy. My fee is nominal, and I think you'll find it well worth your while. Either way, I suggest you find someone to light your way as we approach antipeak, the darkest hour of the day."
Last portal you guys totally socialed on a combat, (likely to happen when you run an adventure backwards). Now, I'm curious to see if you decide to combat on a social.

Hondo will follow Omiy and stick with her as she is the only one he trusts at this moment.
