Flint will help with rip and if preferred could be the main actor (+2 charisma bonus iirc)
About enchanting items, the biggest factor listed is time. And a good about of cash as well. Do we havea way of streamlining that?
// In what way would you like to help with Rip?
// Was the "streamlining" question for me? Do you mean like streamlining the earning of gold? The easiest way would be to find a hoard somewhere and claim it :) Or once you get to Everlund/Silverymoon you could see about opportunities to earn much gold. //
If at any point you look across the village to the keep, you see several skeletons standing guard among the crenellations at the top of the Keep.
// If you wish, you can take your short rest now. However, Rip is currently unavailable to lend his Song of Rest to you. Let me know who you'd like to handle this! //
// Ink will take the short rest now before heading out to run the errands.... using three wizard hit die recovering 13 hit points //
Flint walks over to Rip and looks him over to see if he's OK: non proficient medicine: 15
Then tries to talk to him "what's wrong lad? What're ye no tellin' us? " persuasion: 19 (with advantage)
// Was the persuasion for Rip or Filroy? //
Rip seems to be in perfect health, except that he is weeping inconsolably and doesn't respond to any external stimuli.
This continues for about 10 minutes before Rip finally snaps out of it (I'll leave this to Rip—Rip, you come around with Flint looking concernedly over you).
Ink, with Marav glaring over his shoulder, says to Avgar, "Speak. Now." // Intimidation check: 23 //
"I...I don't know what to say!" The little man blurts out. "I told you not to go outside at night! I have...NO idea what's going to happen now. What if you angered them? What if they seek retribution? They've never attacked us before, always kept us safe, but now...I heard the battle, saw all those awful creatures. What have you done?" Filroy seems close to tears himself—panicked ones.
"You let evil flourish here. You gave them safe haven for years. You are complicit with every death they caused. Make no mistake we will kill them all, and in return for this service we will take the keep."
"You let evil flourish here. You gave them safe haven for years. You are complicit with every death they caused. Make no mistake we will kill them all, and in return for this service we will take the keep."
"What deaths are you talking about? We did nothing—they were the ones that have been giving us safe haven! And anyways, we weren't allowed to leave. So it's not like we could do anything about it anyway. We lived in peace for decades. Even during the war, some orcs tried to raid our village by night...they were massacred. We have been protected, but only because we kept our heads down!"
Marav grunts... "You were safe at the cost of anyone who crossed your path. We went outside at dark and were attacked for it. How many couldn't withstand their attacks? How many people died as you stayed huddled under your roofs at night? How many innocents were taken because they tried to visit the town at night." He leans in close. "You chose to let evil protect you and ignored the cost. Whenever evil offers something there is a cost."

//I got confused and thought the roll was for Rip. You can disregard it, Flint won't join the conversation with Filroy, he's only concerned with Rip at this time.//
"I think we just unleashed the keeps second defenses. I don't expect that whoever actually rules that keep expected their prized pets to be," here, Ink sighs in frustration, "'mostly' bested. Although I'm sure the undead huntlords kept you safe, I doubt they are the masters of that which we just saw - they are servitors to the same dark power just as the other undead out there." Then, turning to Marav, "And Marav, don't be so harsh - the villagers didn't do anything to spawn this situation. The huntlords made the deal with Orcus, not the village. The villagers stayed here out of fear - although I suspect the lot of you could have left the village and left this town behind without retribution - provided you left the morning on midsummer's day, and scatter in different directions - provided that, I'm sure most of you would have been just fine."
Ink continues, "It's a shame really - they squandered all that research they did on such vile ends and goals - they could have been capable of such good, yet they waste it to maintain a seat of power and hold hostage a village in fear."
Turning back to Avgar, "So... you've heard no other names besides those of the huntlord? There must be other stories you can share - other names or gods that have been associated with that keep. A better understanding for us, will mean a safer village for you - whether we stay or leave. Come now, there must be something else in that head of yours."
"Necromancer," comes a new voice from the stairs. It belongs to a man in his early 30's, with black hair in a ponytail. He is shirtless but for a sling in which his arm is held, and he sports a long, fresh scar caused by a fine but deep laceration to his side. Rip will recognizes him as the man he healed earlier, Marthun Daerivoss.
"It's well known in these parts that a necromancer took hold of that keep. You speak of the hunt lords as if they were still alive—my brothers and I assumed that this was just a myth to explain the disappearances that occurred here from time to time. From what I had heard, the hunt lords died over a hundred years ago and it was a necromancer that was terrorizing the village by night.
"It's just as well for us; we have stayed here for nigh on a tenday with no trouble—well, that is, no local trouble." He unconsciously favors his right side as he speaks.
Marav turns to the barkeep he yelled at. "I'm sorry, sometimes I forget that my friends and I have options that aren't available to everyone." He bows slightly, stumbling a bit.
He looks at the man who just came down. He nods toward his arm. "Once I get some rest I can fix that up for you." He walks up stairs to the party's room.
"oh bother! what's this now?" Rip snaps to and wipes at his eyes "felt like something had a hold of me there" at seeing the familiar face "Marthun good to see you, how are your wounds fairing?
"A necromancer? Interesting - that does explain a lot. I wonder if she or he helped create the hunt lords as wights, or, if it took control of the keep and the wights with it. You wouldn't happen to have a name, would you?"
"We? I see only one of you - who else makes up the we? And what non-local trouble have you run into? That's a nasty looking scar you have there - how'd it come to pass?"
