Storm King's Thunder

Your collective movement is swift, and you deftly avoid the flames and the suffocating smoke from the growing fire.

You exit the woods a few miles north of Noanar's Hold, smelling strongly of burnt wood but otherwise unharmed. 

It is only then that you realize Angel isn't with you, and hasn't been with you since Marav snapped out of his daze a full half hour ago or more. 

The forest fire hasn't caught up to where you are yet, but it's approaching steadily.

"I'm sorry for causing that fire, gents," Ink states.

Ink looks around and nods at Quill, "Fly up, girl."  Ink takes a moment to see through Quill's eyes wanting to discern how the fire is moving and what directions it's moving, if any enemies from the keep have begun a pursuit, and if there are any clear paths away from the fire and keep to get back to where we left Boris and the cart.

You see Angel about a mile south, leading Boris up the trail, cart attached. The two mastiffs, Scrappy and Cade, are running alongside him. 

"Likely the fire is the only thing keeping the undead at bay." Marav sighs, "This is a fight for another day. I still think it is worthy, but if we go back now we likely will die and then what will happen to Rip's family? I vote we move on, tend to our wounds and find Rip's family. No more side trips." 

Ink relays what he saw regarding Angel and Boris to the party, then suggesting, "Should we intercept Angel so that we can relieve him of the responsibility of Boris and the cart? He had said that he needed to attend to other things, did he not?" 

“I do not know. I only met him approximately 8.312 hours ago. However, if you would like us to retrieve the cart, I will assist.”

Eventually you meet up with Angel. The Aasimar waves you over as soon as he sees you. "I thought you'd want Boris, so while that wizard and all the undead were in that fog cloud, I ran around the other way past them and collected the animals. Argus didn't want to leave the lodge, so I left him there. 

"But then I saw something really weird as I was on my way out of town."

“What did you see? Was it more chaotic aberrations? If so, please inform your nearest safety official, which is me, their whereabouts. Thank you for your compliance.”

"Angel, this is Crownsguard. Crownsguard - Angel. Crownsguard showed up yesterday and managed to save our hides a few times," Ink says introducing the pair to each other.

"So, what did you see, Angel?" 

Crownsguard, if a robot possibly can, looks to Ink confusedly, “Thank you. However, you introduced us last night as well. Short-term memory loss is a serious condition. I will be happy to examine you after we reach safety.” And then turns to listen to Angel.

"Speak up then lad. After all ye seen th' last few days  what'ud  ye  call weird?"

"So I did. So I did," Ink replies, "It's been a long day."

Angel tries to explain, "The dwarf castellan; he changed. I saw him standing on top of the keep tower, looking it over the fire, and then his form shifted. He grew taller, and his beard changed into these tendrils...he definitely didn't look anything like a dwarf. And he just stood there gazing out at the fire."

//Whaaaaaaaat...//

"How much taller lad?"

//Would any of us recognize what he is describing? Via arcana or survival check or similiar?//

Ink has been studying for nearly a hundred years - although he's specialized in dragon giant lore, here's hoping he read something regarding creatures like this.  Ink asks for guidance from Flint and goes to Rip for help bouncing ideas off of his encyclopedic bardic knowledge.
