Marav slaps Crownsguard on the back warmly and says "He's not as charismatic as me of course but he isn't too bad." Marav smiles accidently showing a few too many teeth for most peoples comfort.

The Flaming Flagon is packed with all sorts of individuals, most of them seeming to be either in traveling clothes or in tailored garb.

 By only wondering aloud, Ink already has three people telling him the story. "It was a dark night, no good comes out of a night like this one..." 

After several minutes, Ink learns that there was a duel between two spellcasters. At one point in the duel, the flagon was hit by a spell or two, and became enchanted. 

"It's been like that for nigh on two score!" The man finishes proudly. 

"What rubbish, it's been like that for a century!" Says his friend.

Fortunately, the gnome is far to enamored of Crownsguard's mechanical form to take any notice of Marav, and is therefore not able to take offense. He ignores Crownsguard's handshake, instead staring at the construct's proffered arm from multiple angles. "This is quite unlike anything I've seen before, you're a fully functional, clockwork construct. And you are autonomous? Well, to be part of the Order of the Gauntlet I suppose you must be. Fascinating..."

Shouts another, "Do you know him?"

"know him? I AM him! see, my proof!" i toss out a few books to the crowd "although I wouldn't say I'm the best 'swordsman' in the Savage Frontier."

“Your assumption is correct. I am fully autonomous, as well as sentient. I can think, emote, and have a horse. The horse is not a requirement for sentience, but he is a friend and I like talking about him. I am unsurprised that I am the first that you have seen, as well as thankful. It is for the best that I am the only one of me.” Crownsguard will move around as the gnome examines him to allow for a better view of him.

"Who rules 'ere friend gnome? Be there a Lord's  Alliance contact?"

 The rather rowdy patrons start to flip through the books, or else pass them on. It's obvious which of them can read and which of them can't. One of them is looking at the book upside down. 

"Hogwash! Rip Dangerfield is bigger than you! And he wears a funny cloak. You don't look anything like him," the first patron scoffs.

 In between conversations and pouring drinks, the gnome spends a good deal of time examining, prodding, and questioning Crownsguard as much as the construct will humor him. 

Crownsguard has no issues answering any questions that the gnome has!

 "Never seen these books before, friend—we have seen Rip in person! He saved a band of merchants from a troll attack a fortnight ago or so. Then he was gone, kept traveling on up towards Everlund. He was only here for the evening, but he had many a story to tell!"

"I didn't save any merchants lately, been busy fighting giants and saving towns.... we did battle a troll at one point though. Tell me my confused fellows, what did this impostor look like? I don't doubt his skills or deads mind you, just the moniker he goes by as it's mine."
