As you arrive at the walled hold a bit before Sundown, you notice that it is brimming with commoners—from the looks of their dress, they are mostly farmers, ranchers, and lumberjacks. Some of them have set up carts to sell their goods along the main street, but most of them seem to just be hanging out here inside the walls, not doing anything. Children play in the alleys and in the crowded streets, but their parents invariably pull them close as they see you walk past, scolding them for straying too far or just holding them close.
Ink sees through Quill's eyes to get a better idea of what's going around town, barring anything too interesting, Ink will suggest heading to the tavern. He'll ask the bartender about rumors, specifically about the giant kind, and share the warning he was supposed to be disseminating to the various towns.
Quill is able to confirm that the entire village, sized for maybe a few hundred people at best, is packed with people. There's just too many people here for them all to have residences in the town, and the majority of them are just sitting around. The guardsmen posted on the walls and at the gate have their attention turned outside, paying no attention to what's going on the in the hold. Petty squabbles are going in a few places, the closest one where a trio of peasants are arguing with someone at the caravan supply shop.
The barman in the Flaming Flagon is a (more or less) cheery gnome with a long beard. As you enter, you realize how the Flaming Flagon got its name—a flagon floats halfway between the ground and ceiling in the middle of the taproom, casting a flickering, yellow-green light. Like the village outside, the Flaming Flagon is full, but unlike the rest of Olostin's Hold, the taproom is clean and orderly. The peace is kept by the presence of two burly men who stand vigilant near the entrance.
The bartender, the gnome, nods soberly as Ink asks about giants. "Yes, we've got reports of all sorts of giants 'round these parts. Hill giants mostly, raiding our farms and ranches with the help of goblins, but I've heard tell of other kinds of giants and their kin rampaging about from Silverwood to Turlang's Wood, all the way through to the other side of the Evermoors. Just had some folks in from a ways north, told of a gang of stone giants dismantling an old ruined tower along the Surbrin River. Just knocking it down like so many children's building blocks." The gnome shudders at the thought. "Can I get you fellows a drink?"
Crownsguard responds cheerily behind him, “The likelyhood of that is 0.0001%. I am not concerned... I am only slightly concerned.” He will follow behind, being his cheery robot self.
Crownsguard elicits stares and whispers wherever he goes. Most of the looks are wary and unfavoring. The gnome barkeep, however, looks at him with a mixture of wonder and admiration, before he sets about answering Ink's questions.

"Any law types around here?" Marav asks the bartender.
"There's a contingent of soldiers from Everlund stationed here," says the gnome. "They're mostly here to keep the peace, they say, but they're what passes for law around here as part of the local militia."
"We should get this guy over to the soldiers, let them deal with him." He glances sideways at the bartender, "Ale please. When was the last giant attack and did they seem to be looking for something specific?"
“Has the morality of the average soldier improved over the past few centuries? At the time of my awakening, their moral standards were dangerously low.” Crownsguard lowers a hand to illustrate.

Ink will ask around about Harshnag, the Red Tiger clans and possible refugees from Rip's town. If he finds any spellslingers or godly people, he'll throw in a few questions about the "evil that took over Noaners Hold."
Rip, in his natural bard environment will regale the taverns patrons with tales of their adventures! (but not Noaners Hold as that seems like a bad idea to mention an undead army}
