While Cico leans out into the room looking to see if he can see the other end of the path made by the discs, still holding to the door frame for support, he thinks to the unicorn.
<Primara,> Cico thinks. <Do you know who the wizard was who did this? Does Mirt know you're a real unicorn?>
The Unicorn makes no moves whatsoever to avoid being petted, though it’s not as pleasant as Aimee may have imagined. More like rubbing a gemstone, not soft at all, and no whinnying.
Aldrik recalls Mirt’s constant boasts of being a friend of famed wizard Elminster, though he was quite the heroic figure.. still, what goes on behind closed doors you never know. It could have been lifted from his expedition to the undermountain - perhaps a plaything of the infamous Halaster Blackcloak. The more you think about it, the more equally likely possibilities there become for how he may have came across it - after all, through his adventuring and financial endeavours he would have had the chance to obtain a myriad of unique wonders such as this. The question that remains is…. Why was this one so dear? You were told it was significant to his wife, was she really the types to enjoy keeping a trapped creature like this? Again… behind closed doors?
Unicorns on the other hand, are not so much in your wheelhouse as Waterdeep legends. Magic horses with a horn, you’ve got that. And pretty much beings of pure good. By the time forests and fairies were mentioned you had all but zoned out.
”It was a lifetime ago, but I’ll never forget the symbol he wore… it was like a snake, but with wings. I spent so long in Mirt’s collection, and he only ever said one thing… ‘I’m sorry’”
Cico relays the description of the symbol the wizard wore to the others: the snake with wings.
”There are no more words on the walls in this room. It would appear to be risk without reward. Were there any other rooms we missed?”
He then adds to Primara <We will find a way to free you. But first we need to free ourselves from this alley. Has anyone here revealed the exit to you?>
"Primara says that the exist from the alley is on the other side of that room with the fake gold."
He then nods back into the room with the discs.
"At the other end of all the discs, there's a sword hanging there. It looks like it's making the moonlight." he says then looks at Aldrik. "Perhaps your new sword has a sibling."
While everyone debates the carrying capacity of Aldrik's sword, Edvord ritually casts detect magic and inspects the floating platforms preparing for the feat of acrobatics.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aldrik considers Zauberjager, slayer of sorcerers. "Hmm. Probably shouldn't trust the flying blade that hungers for magic to help you out just yet, Eddie."
He looks around. "Anyone have any rope? Can do the old classic "tie the wizard to the big guy like a kite" routine. Oh, unless there's something to swing off of! Just like those chatbooks about Arol Frynn, daring swashbuckler and terror of Moonshae!"
Aldrik looks around for a good anchor or pulley point for a theoretical rope, assuming one of his friends actually packs exploration gear and not just a deck of cards, a flask of brandy, and an oversized sword.
"Hey, well, I like swords. Can't have enough of 'em, never know when you need to give a rapscallion a good thrash in this city. And Eddie's got that gleam in his eye. If he falls I'll punch him for you, Kerri."Aldrik says, taking the rope and securing it to himself (and if there's a good anchor point, securing it to that as well) before handing one end to Edvord.
Edvord, hearing the coin drop you’re unable to be too accurate but you feel the drop would be somewhere between ten to a hundred feet.
Aldrik prepares the rope, other than the door, the chains that hold the circular platforms look sturdy enough to anchor a rope, though you would have to reach them first.
After ten minutes of chanting, Edvord is able to sense multiple magical aura’s coming from within the smoke, the sword at the end of the room, and the unicorn statue.
"Mirt doesn't do stuff like that," Kerri says dismissivly. "So most likely he just bought it and didnt know the truth."
"Oh, and trust me. When I find that wizard," her eyes go dark, "He's going to pay."
She glowers at Edvord after her comments, seeming to have a private argument with herself.

Aimee says louder,
"We can always ask the unicorn if it spoke with Mr. Mirt! Then he'd have to know!"
She leans in and whispers while she pets the unicorn,
"Yes we would! Yes we would! Tell me! Or Cico!"
While Cico leans out into the room looking to see if he can see the other end of the path made by the discs, still holding to the door frame for support, he thinks to the unicorn.

Sorry life is crazy, I'll get a real post in the morning. The investigation check is to see how far the coin dropped.

Aimee is happy to go check the next nearest room, door 3 through the gold room?
Cico nods at Aimee.
"Primara says that the exist from the alley is on the other side of that room with the fake gold."

Edvord wilts back from Kerri's glare.
"I wonder if one could dance across the discs with a few jumps... At least with the danger appears readily apparent. Just one last side-step..."

Aimee raises her hand,
"I'm not going for the sword Kerri! I will stand here with you and glare at them!"
Cico sets his pack down and then quickly locates a coil of rope.
”You should always have rope with you,” Cico says in the tone of someone reciting from a check list. He passes it to Aldrik.
”That is a loan not a gift.”
Lyss nods. "You don't know what you're gonna need it for. They just always need it."
