"Hang on." Arogna motions to Bjorn to follow her outside. If he does, she'll tell him quietly (well as quietly as she can),
"I don't think we got enough money, Bjorn. Nobody has more than twenty as far as I know. So it's at least all of our gold, and maybe we ain't got enough. I know it ain't a good deal, but I don't reckon anyone else is gonna take that stuff of Griggle's in trade. Let's just give him the metal and take the sword, yeah?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Qinfaren," Shad says, "I don't know if you ever did tell me. You mentioned things had changed for your village, but not specifically how." Shad asks this while he watches for rats (Perception: 19). He stamps his feet, tugs his hoods low, and pulls the layers of the coats around him
Qinfaren watches Shad stamping in the snow. He tries it a few times himself, leaving large footprints as he does.
"This winter came earlier and has been harsher than ever before. There was no time to gather crops and store food for the long days ahead. Some of the elders think that it's not natural and something or even someone could be causing it." Qinfaren says to Shad. "I don't know either way. But it's not going to be good. If something has caused the change I hope to find it."
"That does sound terrible! Cold before you had a chance to prepare?" Shad looks at all the snow around him. He renews his efforts to stay warm. "We ought to discover the cause and stop it," he says. "Hmm," he says, but his thoughts are interrupted when Arogna and Bjorn come outside. Shad doesn't overhear them, but he does ask, "How is it going in there? Can we help? Do you have new weapons? Let's make the delivery and get out of this weather!"
Bjorn would follow Argona outside and listen to her proposal. He would frown, "It's very valuable though, and I don't think it would be a fair trade for us. Perhaps we should hold off on the sword till we get compensated for delivering this package, that should give us another 5 gp per person. That should be enough?"

As you stand outside the smithy, a couple of young dwarves come running past playing games together. Elsewhere you see a drow purchasing goods from a half orc at a stool nearby.

""She don't want us to deliver the package, though. That's the point of the sword," Arogna explains. "If she's gonna make a move, it's gonna be on the way there. Look, if you're that determined to hang on to Griggle's brick, fine. Go in and offer him what we got, and if he won't take it, get Muharg, and we'll go. I can handle her. I did last time. "
Arogna turns to Shad, "No weapon yet. Seems Bjorn won't make a bad deal even to save his life. If we can't scrape up a hundred, or the smith won't take what we got, that's it." She dumps her pouch of gold (20GP) into Bjorn's hand. "Go on and make your trade. I gotta warn you, though. If the rat woman does for you, I'm taking that brick outta your backpack an' swapping it for a mug of ale to drink in your memory." She considers. "Well, maybe a good mead, actually."
OOC:
If you know we need the adamantine for some higher purpose, ignore Arogna. She's just considering its cash equivalent.
My impression is that nobody has more than 20GP and some may have less. I have 20 total, Shad has offered 20, you have 20. I'll check earlier pages then edit this.
Okay, Muharg has 12 and Quinfaren has "a little under 20". So assuming Shad offered all his money we are definitely short, and if he didn't, we are probably short anyway. If the dwarf accepts it, we will be penniless in terms of cash.
Bjorn will take Arogna's offered coin and walk back into the forge. Walking up to the smith from before he would say, "Look we really need that silver short sword, and I rather not have to spend all out coin getting it. If we were to make a trade with this," Bjorn would retrieve the bar of adamantine again and show it to the smith again, "Would you perhaps be able to make a few more silvered weapons for us? We can come back and collect them later."

While the others are outside discussing, Muharg will try to soften the smithy with some small talk "Oh, let me introduce myself, I'm Muharg, Muharg Sunborn." Nods respectfully "We are here on a courier mission, but I'm a pretty decent smith myself, my fellows own a blacksmith workshop back in Neverwinter. So, tell me friend, how's work this far up north? Any specific processes to blacksmithing due to the low temperatures? I can see you are quite a skilled one over there!" Smiles at the dwarf "Oh, and by the way, do you happen to know a fella named Glarth Druma by any chance? We need to deliver a parcel to them."
The smith looks back at Bjorn with a look at utter disbelief, "I'm not sure what you are not getting. I have no silvered weapons, I have no silver to make silvered weapons. In fact, I doubt there is enough silver on this entire island to cover a dagger with silver. Nevermind make you several weapons to make the deal that you want. You can either pay one hundred gold pieces for the sword, trade me something of value, or go without the sword."
The dwarven smith then takes a moment to force himself to calm down before turning to Muharg.
"Well, it's nice to meet you Muharg. Business does go well. I am often hired to create replacements for breaks under stress from the weather this far north. Though there's very few around these parts looking for weapons or even jewellery. Silver is far too expensive to ship from the mainlands for my purposes. I mostly make use of Iron, copper and tin. Sure it's not pretty but we're a more practical sort around here.
Though I do get some travellers looking for last-minute essentials in their preparations before trying to climb to the other parts of the island.
As for Glarth, yeah I know him. He is a bit of a strange fellow, mostly keeps to himself.

Shad shifts under his coats. He hops for a moment to stay warm and keep blood flowing in his legs. The young dwarves running and playing probably interest him more than the purchase, though if the drow is buying a silvered weapon . . .
Bjorn would sigh and leave the bar of adamantine on the table, "I guess I have little choice. You have a trade then. The silver shortsword for this bar. I don't supposed you could throw in a pair of normal scimitars could you?"
He pauses for a moment before asking, "This deal aside, we have a couple more bars of this metal, would you be able to craft it into a suit of armor perhaps scale mail or chain mail? If so how long would it take and how much would it cost?"
The smithy smiles in response, "I can certainly throw in a couple of pairs of scimitars." He turns back around and picks the sword and scimitars of the workbench before presenting them to you.
"As for the making the suit of armour, it would take two bars of adamantine to make. I will throw the closet of service in as part of the trade if you'd like. If you have the two adamantine bars right now, and if I work into the night, I can have them ready in the morning."
