OOC: Major apologies! Real life just got in the way. I'm reading through now and will make a post. Hopefully I've not ruined it for all. I'm able to stay engaged now. Sorry again.
--With regard to changing; I could do a schedule but PbP def. better/easier. I'm ok with Discord switch but my vote would be to stay on DDB for built in tools. And it's where my books are :-) But if move to Discord easier for everyone I'm good there too.
Those distant memories came flooding back. But here it was more than just a memory. The voices... they seemed alive. Taunting him almost. Gale fell to his knees, paralyzed by the scene unfolding in his mind. It was a dark enough memory before. The fire. The loss. But now... Krygiel laughing and taunting. As if it were an assassination all for fun. All just to rip out his soul. He'd been too late to save her, but somehow it seemed it was just a fire. He felt the shame of not being there in time, but things just happened. Now though... Well... Did things just happened? He could hear the laughs and see the brutish monsters slashing out at the guests as they all tried to run from the inn. And Krygiel watching, laughing, calling his name. And then having his cronies set the place alight. The horror and the screams drowned out by their laughter...
"I'm coming!" Gale yelled as he jumped from the floor and rushed down the hall only to realize he was not there. He was somewhere else. He paused a moment, looked around. The Gnomes!, he thought. Where is everyone? He heard voices just ahead and rushed into the room just in time to her Morgan announce "That's the one!".
Gale is confused for a moment. "We're attacking a wine barrel?" But before he hears an answer, Leareth fires a shot. Gale quickly grabs an arrow, draws, and lets loose the projectile towards the barrel. (Attack: 13 Damage: 11)

Gale and Laereth: Both your attacks fly toward the barrel and nail it in it's body. The barrel begins to sprout legs and move around, snarling as a mouth forms on the front of the barrel. It appears those shots hurt it quite a bit. Geralt uses this time to shoot a bolt at it himself.
Attack: 19 Damage: 8
The bolt goes flying and nails the barrel in its mouth. A bolt sticks out of it's snarling mouth.
“That’s the one,” says Morgan, stepping up before the others and preparing to defend himself. “I’ll try to block it and you guys unload on it!” he adds.
OOC: Dropping the rest of the pebbles, stepping up a bit and drawing his mace, and using the dodge action.
OOC: Since Morgan used the Dodge when he stepped up, shouldn't that give the Mimic Disadvantage on its attack?
Morgan reels from the creature's savage attack and continues to try and dodge/block its fangs as best he can (Dodge).

The three of you release a volley of arrows toward the creature, each landing and piercing its wooden exterior. As the last bolt strikes it, it collapses to the ground, a trickle of arcane energy slowly leaves its mouth as it lies motionless. With the creature lying there dead, what would you all like to do?
Unwilling to let down his guard just yet, Morgan says, “Let’s make sure it doesn’t have a friend.” Hooking his mace on his belt, He keeps his shield ready and picks back up his pebbles, pinging all the other objects in the room large enough to be a mimic in disguise.
”Gale, that was a mimic. The gnomes asked us to kill it. It can take on quite an elaborate disguise, as you can see,” Morgan comments as he checks the rest of the room.

Morgan, it takes you a couple minutes but after going through all the barrels, you can safeky say, to the best of your ability, that the rest of the barrels are clear of tomfoolery.

Morgan:
Letting out a deep breath, Morgan goes to inspect the body of the mimic out of scientific and/or morbid curiosity. "I've heard of natural camouflage, but this is quite extraordinary. If I had access to a first class autopsy setup, we could learn some amazing things, I am sure."

Morgan: You are amazed at how this creature was able to desguise itself in such a way but are unable to figure out how. The inside of the barrel looks to have creaturesqe anatomy, whatever that means in this world. As you peer inside the mouth, you see it's large sticky tounge and it's sharp teeth.
Frustrated with his lack of proper medical tools, Morgan gives up and says, "Is everyone okay? I take it we should go back and let the gnomes know their wine cellar is mimic-free."

Leareth struggled with temptation and for once temptation lost. "Come on. We need to report, then they'll want to see it for themselves, then we still have to get them to part with something for the defense of the town. Somehow."

Schedules wouldn't work for me either. If we switch to discord, it'd remain a PbP.
