Yes, Ash would definitely point out the footprints to everyone. And as Ben smells a rat and suggests a scam, Ash’s eyes narrow, “What a good scam though! It had me going!!.... but if it’s not ghosts, what is it?...”.
Ash squints around the room. ((Am I right in thinking there is a door on the east wall, and the trapdoor)). She would also look over at the pile of trash on the floor in the south east corner ((is that something? I saw it on the map)).
She would then ask, “should we follow these footprints first before trying the trapdoor?”.

"It's admittedly a good setup here, I just don't get the why yet. Maybe if we check out the rest of this ruin we can figure it out before having to use that hatch they definitely don't want us to use."
He shakes his head.
"Would have been smarter to have it at the doors. Having it at the hatch is only going to draw attention to it if people are as brave as we were."
He makes eye contact with Ash and Ess to confirm that all are in agreement that they weren't that afraid.
He will go check out the fire place since is checking the trash pile.
Ash, there is definitely a door on the east wall. It is closed. The guys noticed it when they peeked in the room along with the trash in the corner when Kay initially opened the door with his staff.
Ess says to Ben"Pfffft. Scared? Me? Hell no, bro." Ess looks so relieved that you all are saying that it's not ghosts as he believes that, too.
Ben, the fireplace is empty and shows no signs of recent use.
Ash, you find trash in the trash :) old papers, nothing legible on them, some foodstuff wrappings, some dirt, a lot of dust, maybe some small bits of glass... trash.
Ben, after Ash checks the door, you test it. It's not locked. You open the door, and I have uncovered what you all see in the next room on the map!

- There is a larger room at the end of the hallway. You see a staircase on the eastern wall.
- Since you've spotted the footprints at the trap door, you can see that they also lead down the hallway and into that larger room and then branch off south.
Ash speaks from behind everyone. “Should we check these two rooms here before going past?...”. If no one objects, she checks them over for traps (with disadvantage)...

Korrik, you turn the latch on the first door, and it opens. *click*. You push it open with your staff. I have noted what you see in there without any checks as well as what you can see on the map. It looks like some type of study or writing room. There are two desks, a chair, a small fireplace and some garbage like in the hallway and other room.
Ben, you advance forward and look into the big room. The map has been uncovered to show what you see. There are no magical pings that you're getting in that room. You find yourself in a musty, dirty entrance hall. The walls are bare and bits of smashed furniture lie upon the floor. North of you, another corridor leads toward the rear of the house. A staircase on the eastern wall climbs to the next story, reaching it at a balcony that overlooks the entrance hall along its north and west sides. A third corridor leads east under the stairs. The footprints go towards the entrance of the house, as well as down that north corridor towards the back of the house.
One other thing, if Ben would've looked in the room that Korrik opened, he would've got a magical ping from the desk under the windows. It would be a faint red aura around the drawer which you would recognize as evocation magic.
Ben swings back and explains what he saw, pausing at the desk,
"No more illusion magic that I can see yet. We check this floor then take a break for lunch? Good to use these magic seeing eyes... I'm actually surprised whoever made the tracks hasn't checked on the sound."
He walks to the desk Korrik is yawning at,
"Did you look at this? It's got something in this drawer here"
Ash is out in the hall, still squinting at the jam around the second (as yet unopened) door: looking for any signs of anything unusual that could spring a trap. Her mind is not on it though. She still feels shaken from the scare earlier.
She responds to Ben in the other room, “What’s that?.. uh, yeah, I’m brave!... I mean, I’m not scared... I mean, why would I be?.. I mean, I’m good... I’m not scared, you’re scared!...”.
She opens the South door in the corridor and peeks in...

Ess says "Dude! I'm good, bro! What you got in there? And hell ya, after we check this floor, let's eat bro."

After looking at the fireplace he comments,
"No sign of fresh fires here."
He walks over to the door and, making sure he has Ess's attention, shows him how to test a door handle first before kicking it open.
"It's not like we're being sneaky, between the voice, the *ahem* screaming and Kay's... comedy song."
If the door isn't locked he will open it but not enter the next room.
