You move your way from the beach back to town, and even find your way back onto the road. You are still a little before where you were hit before by the bandits when you come across a wagon, with 4 people in it, they are very jumpy when they see you walking up on them. Time now is just after dinner time. Do you stop to talk with them?

Making sure to keep his head hidden Kraven walks up to the wagon, empty hands out in the open, "Evening, I will take no actions against you unless you start things, which would be bad for you. Which way are you going and what news/gossip do you carry? My friends and I are just now returning form the wilds to town and have been away awhile, so any news would be appreciated. If you are heading into town do you mind if we accompany you, and maybe some of my group that are more tired than the others can hitch a ride in back?"
"…I can barely afford my every day's living. Owning a boat is pie in the sky for me…" Mumbles Gintarou, looking up to the sky. Apparently he is imagining a giant tasty pie floating in the sky. "I think, this time the wiseman's assistant wouldn't object to rent us a boat or at least enough money to charter one."
Zan pshaws. "I couldn't convince her to pony up for some horses." Zan wiggles his eyebrows at his own joke. "But maybe your powers of persuasion are better' mine."

The people in the wagon agree, they tell you a story about a group of bandits who attacked them about 2 or 3 hours ago, about an hour ago them meet with a group from the guild who was investigating this bandit tribe. The guild group, they described them as mighty, a Half-orc, Firbolg, dirty looking Human and a rather odd Tiefling girl each without a weapon, a human woman with a staff, a rude halfling woman with a crossbow, and a faint of a woman with a great sword. They are on their way to town and are traders. They offer to give the group 4*4 (16)gold for escorting them back to town, but now rather than getting in around 10-11 you will be getting back closer to midnight. Do you wish to escort them back to town.
"Won't be just a boat we need but also a crew," Druquilla comments to Gintarou. "I have a fair amount of experience but one person does not make a crew."
Druquilla listening to the traders' story, nods, then turns to the rest of the group and asks, "I don't mind the extra time if it means a few extra coins what do the rest of you think?"

"I wouldn't mind a few extra coins, and it will make for a much less appealing target with so many of us." Aubric will look at the group to try and get an idea of what any of them might be capable of.
Kraven hops up into the wagon and nestles down among the cargo, "Thank you for the ride and the payment, we are happy to help out if needed." Then turns to the rest of the group, "I wonder if the bandits that attacked these folk are part of the group that attacked us. We might want to let the city know as they could be offering a bounty."
Mist stumbles backward with a startled shout. He waves both arms in distinctly different motions and sends a streak of energy blasting toward the creature as the rift in space tears open once more and a large green tentacle emerges and strikes out.
"First big crab and next is a giant shrimp!?" Gintarou swings his fist at the Ankheg. He can't hurt the monster but pushes it's jaw away. Gintarou hits the monster with his weapon and shouts. " Be careful for a ambush! This thing might be a distraction!"
Zan leaps to his feet, hefting a crossbow and sending a bolt speeding at the ankheg!
Crossbow: Attack: 19 Damage: 9
He yells down from the wagon as he reloads. "Aye, Gintarou! You're swinging like me aunt Glaria holdin' a broom. Show the brute that ye aim to do more than clean the porch!"

"Where did this come from???" Aubric exclaims startled. Calling on the magic he was taught a mote of flame appears in his hand and streaks out toward the creature.
The barrage of attacks leave the Ankheg dead and on the floor. You return to town with no further problems. Say your good buys to the traders, and... As I said before time now is a little after midnight. What do you do?

Zan nods in agreement. "What's another hour?" He bows to the travelers. "Zandeyr at yer service!"

(based on what the group has said the guild has sent people out to take care of the bandits.)
