((Minor correction. When I said the window was broken I meant the window that was on the door; the one you were trying to figure out which way ti was broken from. The bigger windows in the kitchen are fine and not broken))
I got that~ I meant that was looking in to the kitchen through the window, not actually going into the kitchen itself. Then shouting up from there. Regardless, since there was no answer he’ll go up to help with the doors up there :)
Komos heads upstairs and tries his keys on the two doors. Both doors open. One of the doors seem to lead to guest bedroom of sorts. It is well furnished and the bed is made but it's clear this room hasn't been used in a while. The room contains a cheap desk, a set of drawers for keeping clothes in and a bed. The bed itself has a cheap sheet over it that has a layer of dust on it. The same layer of dust is on all the furniture here. There is a spiderweb in a corner but no spider to be seen.
The other door that's at the further end of the hallway opens up to what you assume is the blacksmith's bedroom. It has a wardrobe in it, a bedside table and a chair. The bed is messy and there is a stale smell in the air. It is clear that this room has been used for "Fun Times" not about a day ago. For some strange reason, it seems no one has cleaned the stained sheets since then. There is a set of trousers and a shirt left crumpled on the floor beside the bed.
Sniv scrunches his nose up when he sees the crumpled bedsheets. Humans are disgusting he thinks to himself as he wanders into the bedroom. Carefully entering the room, Sniv heads towards the wardrobe and attempts to open it. "Might as well look to see if there is anything in here. I don't think the blacksmith is around to mind." Although he says this mostly as a justification to himself, he looks back to see what Komos thinks. After all, Kobolds should act together not separately.

Inside the wardrobe are two sets of clothes. It seems the blacksmith owned 4 sets total, counting 2 in the wardrobe, 1 on the ground and 1 the blacksmith would have been wearing when he disappeared.
Sniv, Please roll Perception or Investigation (This one can be Helped)
The two Kobolds, Sniv and Komos search the wardrobe thoroughly. They find a key inside a shoe. It's not particularly well hidden so it seems like it was in the pockets of one of the clothes and it happened to fall out and into the shoe rather than being hidden inside intentionally. The key has an engraving that reads: HR. What could it mean?
If Varn is still outside, Sniv picks the key up from the ground after it falls out and looks at the initials curiously. "I suppose we will eventually run into whatever this opens." Turning to Komos, he hands the other kobold the key and says, "You are holding onto the other keys so you should hold on to this one too." After handing Komos the key, Sniv takes a set of clothes and explains his thoughts, "If we ever need a disguise to fit in better with humans, we might be able to fit all of us under this set of clothes." Once the outfit is packed away, Sniv heads over to the desk to look around some more.

On the desks there is a small note. It has an elegant handwriting. It reads the following:
So, Mr. Baris Vare. Are we still on tonight? My husband is away on a trip to see his parents in Phandelver and won't be back for a few days. Should we meet up for dinner and some recreation afterward?
Sniv shows the note to Komos and asks, "What do you think this means? It at least explains why the blacksmith isn't around... Although the wife never mentioned anything about leaving and she isn't here either." He looks at Komos curiously.

"Maybe that explains why the kitchen window was broken.”Komos says, pocketing the key. “This woman owns the restaurant across the way I think. They must have been hungry! Ah, we do still need to check downstairs.”
Sniv nods, "Should we check the guest room first? Maybe something was hidden in there. Also, maybe we should try and get Varn in here. Another pair of eyes never hurt and if the monster comes back, we should all be together."

Sniv heads down to the main floor again and pokes his head out of the blacksmith's shop calling out to Varn, "Hey Varn. We are both just exploring some more inside here. The more information we have, the easier it will be to eventually find this creature. Wanna help us?"

"Sure, but what about the dogs? We won't be able to find them if they run away in this fog. Do you see anywhere where we can tie them?" When you see him, he's lying on the three dogs' backs who form a bed for him. It's probably not too comfortable for him but got tired of standing.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sniv glances around looking for a post or anywhere that the dogs could be tied up. As he looks, he starts ritual casting speak with animals so that he can reassure the dogs when they do tie them up.
Sniv motions for Varn to follow him as he continues his ritual and gestures to bring the dogs. Once inside, he mimes tying the dogs to the furniture in the back of the shop and helps Varn do so. Hopefully, by then he will have finished his ritual, at which point he speaks to the dogs, "This is only a temporary arrangement and we will come back and get you out later. We just don't want you running off in the meantime. Does that sound alright?" If the dogs do not object, then Sniv will follow Varn upstairs to join back with Komos.

Varn tries to help Sniv in tying the dogs down. "Well, then, did you find anything interesting in here?" He looks around for a moment, searching for anything interesting among the weapons, armour and adventuring gear. "It doesn't look like a place you two would spend that much time in. What else did you find?"
The dogs are complaint. They aren't awfully intelligent but they do understand what Sniv is saying so they remain well behaved and seated as they are tied to the furniture.
"We found a couple keys... but they all seem to open other doors in this house. Komos noticed a window in the door in the back that was smashed open and he thinks that it leads to a restaurant. Other than that, we looked around the room upstairs and it appears that the blacksmith's wife was having some kind of affair. I'm not sure what that has to do with our monster, but perhaps it's all connected somehow." With that Sniv leads Varn upstairs where Komos is waiting.
