"One button opens them, and then a button inside seems to move the whole room in there to another place. I'm still not sure how it all works exactly..." Komos replies.
"Only one way forward," says Skarro as they approach the strange doors.
, but as they move back into the room from which the giant came, Skarro examines the things that he was apparently making, reaching down to pick one up.
The doors close, momentarily trapping the party in the metal room. Then it begins shaking as if there's a minor earthquake. There's a drone of mechanical whirring as the room moves down. Then, as suddenly as it started, the whirring and the shaking stop and there's an eerie quiet in the room. DING. With a sharp sound, the doors then slide open.
The party know find themselves in a large room that has 6 pillars arranged in two rows of three forward. The walls, ceiling and the floor seem to be made of some strange grey material that feels like rock and stone but it is all seemingly just one single thing. The ceilings, the pillars, the walls and the floor; all of it is made of this strange thing. There are some places where cracks make holes in the top layer of this... stone substance to reveal a flaky and coarser second layer immedietly underneath. The only light source in this room is a strange pole attached high up on the wall on a grayish, metallic looking fixture. The pole glows with white light. Metal pipes go along the ceiling down the middle of the room. Drops of water leak out of the pipes and fall on the floor below, leaving a darker wet patch where the drops fall.
There is a single set of stairs going up on the right wall near the far end of the room.
OoC: For clarity, the walls and the ceiling and the pillars are made of modern concrete. The lighting fixture is a fluorescent tube. Neither of these should exist in Faerun (where the party is from) but here they are.
As soon as the door opens Skarro scurries out, waving the others to follow. "Quickly! Quickly! Wall might come back!"
When everyone is out he cautiously walks the perimeter of the room, looking for other ways that they might go. The stairs up do not interest him, at least for the moment. He was sure that they needed to head down because the manager wanted them to go up. It felt like the floor had fallen away in the tremors, so he was pretty sure that they were now under their previous location, but if there was no other place to go. perhaps his conclusion was wrong.
After walking the perimeter he pauses and his brows furrow, "Where does the water go?" he asks, trying to see where it escapes the room.
Nowhere. It seems the water just stays there until it slowly evaporates. The rate at which the water drops from the pipes fall on the floor is slow enough that the water evaporates before too much of it can accumulate on the floor. Also some of it does seep into the concrete floor.
Komos follows Skarro looking around the room in wonder, focusing on the pipes where the water comes from, admiring the consisitancy with which they metal was formed.
Walking up the stairs, the party finds themselves at the end of a hallway. To their right is the wall and the left, the hallway stretches a long distance forward. Similar pipes to the ones in the room they were in, run along the walls of the hall. In spite of how long the hallway is, there is only one far away metal door that the party can see at the other end, a metal door on the wall in the middle of the hall, and a message board of some kind to the opposite of that door.
Tiamat says, "If we are to hold the line once more, perhaps you should let me take point and bare the attacks from any enemy?"
Skarro draws a breath in surprise. "Is that....is that wise, G-Glory? We should protect you!" He examines her more closely, "But you do look stronger..." His voice trails off, uncertain.
"We cannot hope to defeat this emporer. Our only hope is to empower the Lady and hope that she can stand to him with us aiding. I'll follow you whereever you lead!" Komos says.
Skarro's eyes narrow and he stands unmoving while he thinks. Eventually he nods: He trusts both Glory and Komos for very different reasons, but if they both agree on this, then it must be true.
"Glory leads," he says, now nodding more confidently. "And we find more food for her."

Skarro proffers the last ten coins, asking Tiamat for a Ring of Spell Storing, which he admires briefly before placing it on his finger.
When Varn asks where they should go, Skarro turns to Komos.
"Did you figure out the funny doors?" he asks.
"One button opens them, and then a button inside seems to move the whole room in there to another place. I'm still not sure how it all works exactly..." Komos replies.

(( fixed. Did the giant drop anything other than coins? ))
((The giant did not))
"How does it work?" Skarro asks Komos as he squints at the lights.
Bump.
Komos shrugs, "As I said, I'm not really sure... but if you push one of these buttons I think we'll end up somewhere else."

Komos grunts and instantly pushes a button then hurriedly moves a little closer to Glory while he waits to be transported.

Skarro grunts in frustration, "Well. Nowhere to go but stairs," he says as he starts moving toward them.
He waits at their base for the others to catch up before proceeding up.
