Evo chuckles at the thought of a big bird carrying Gotur off.
"We'll get the mask back from them Azaka, don't ye worry."
That evening, right before they turn in, he sits and begins a quiet prayer asking the others to sit near one another. He will pop an eye open as Phillip hops around him asking about the tent and says,
"If ye want to help ye can make sure everyone stays close."
He completes the ritual and Leomund's tiny hut Evo's tiny hut appears in a color that blends with the surroundings.
"Okay. Well now, nothing can get to us inside here but us. No bugs, no animals." He looks through the see through walls at the jungle, "No dinosaurs. Ye can come and go and see through the walls from the inside but ye can't see in. Spells and weapons don't work through the walls either. Also, ye'll probably notice the temperature is, thank the Lady, pleasant. What do ye think Phillip?"
Then to the guides,
"Aye normally don't bother with anything like a watch while I sleep in here, do ye think we need one? Maybe?"
Phillip’s eyes go wide... wider than normal that is! And his mouth falls from his usual, perpetual smile, into a big, gaping ‘O’.
He looks around inside. Then he steps out and tries to touch the surface but comes straight back through. “This will stop anything?!?!!!” he says, still goggling around at the slight shimmer around the party. “And it’s not hot!! Nope nope!... Oh this will help a lot with being comfortable in the jungle. Uh huh! Yep yep yep!!...”.
“Can I shoot out??”, he asks ((I think, maybe, are mundane weapons fine to pass through (out), just not magic? So arrows etc?)). And in an instant, his bow appears from nowhere, mystically summoned into his hand, and he has an arrow drawn before anyone can blink. He mimes, playfully pretend-aiming at a few things beyond the dome.
Without shooting, he relaxes and stows his weapon again, letting out a little gurgling chuckle. Then he turns back to the group, beaming bigger than ever before, “Oh my! This will do VERY nicely! Uh huh! Yup yup yup!...”.
"Nah, ye can't shoot out. Aye'd say try it but aye think it may bounce around a bit. Maybe try throwing something at it instead if ye'd like to check."
((Is the moon visible? If it is Evo would orient himself to face it and start another prayer, pulling out a small reliquary from a chain around his neck. Otherwise he just starts getting his pack ready for sleep.))
"This is amazing Evo!", Gotur sighs with relieve as the temperature drops inside the dome. "Imagine it'll be a rude awakening when we step back out into the heat and humidity though. We should test it Phillip."
Gotur steps out and grabs a rock, lobbing it gently against the side of the dome.
"Nope, not getting through!"
He picks up the rock and steps back in, but is pulled up short when the rock refuses to join him.
"Huh, that's good to know. I guess if we want a cook fire inside the dome, we'd need to bring the wood in with us first... is that doable? Will it let the smoke out, or would we need to cook outside? I've got us covered, as far as food goes, but I know Phillip caught some goodies. Are those supposed to be cooked Phil?"
He cradles his staff in his arms, muttering over it in a druidic chant as a tiny sprig wiggles its way out, swiftly forming into pale flowers that wither and swell until there is a cluster of shiny purple berries that he snaps free and passes around.
"They won't feel like they fill you up the same as a big meal, but each berry has enough to keep you going for a whole day. They'll heal you a bit too, so if we all eat one we'll be fed, and I can make extra for us to keep on hand if we get hurt tomorrow. They'll lose their magic by this time tomorrow though."
Phillip is literally amazed with the hut. Like a kid seeing soap-bubbles for the first time! He hops from inside, to outside, and back again, and back again.
He crawls up to the the very edge, from inside, reaches his hand through, and tries to throw a handful of grit from the ground out there back in, into his own face, while trying to keep his eyes open!
He tries to carry things out. Pick up other things and carry them back in.
He sits just inside, casts light on a stone from the inside, and holds it out through the wall to see if the light shines back in.
He’s in danger of doing things like that all night unless someone tells him it’s bed time.
Phillip goes and grabs his purple-lobster-shrimps and greens, but can’t bring them in. He leaves them on a big leaf outside and comes back in without them. “This will take some getting used to! Uh huh! Yup!...”, he says, still just loving it.
In answer to Gotur, he says, “I like them raw or cooked, they are okay to eat either way. Uh huh... Some people don’t like the heads or the legs. Nuh-hu.. ... Best bits though! Ha!.. Uh huh! Yup!...”.
He also says, “I’ve got us covered fffff-P’or water. Uh huh”, holding up his decanter of endless water.
"If we oversleep we'll find ourselves on the ground. It has happened to be before in the winter. Wakes ye right up!"
Then to the fire question,
"Never tried to light a fire inside before, might work? Aye know air is passing through so if the wood is here when aye cast the spell it should just float out, no worries. Normally the hut is the last thing aye do before aye go to bed as aye can't leave it or it disappears and aye got to make it again."
He eyes the berry and pockets it.
"Aye can make something a bit more filling if ye'd like? Pretty bland actually but there is a lot of it and aye brought some spices along." He eyes Gotur's belly and pats his own. "Aye can only make one amount and try as aye might aye haven't been able to eat a full casting mehself!"
((create food and water 45 lbs of food is a pretty solid breakfast, lunch and dinner for 6 people!))
((Oh nice!!! Create food and water, goodberries, forraging for up to 10 people and endless water, and a cool dome for the night?!?! I think we are nicely set! :-) ))
"Wow Evo, you've got everything! I'm not sure if I'll be able to go back to regular campingafter spending time with you!"
((Cue DM looking at characters, back to module with dehydration and camping hazards, back at players, back at module rules... single tear. Fist crumples sheet of paper, fades to black.))
((no problen Grwobert about the ranger and foraging - DM me when you want!))
((moon is visible through the larger slits in the canopy.))
((no limit on the water if it does not specify in the description of that item! It's ok, I am still going to have characters have he chance to be dehydrated even if they drink enough water. Some days there just won't be enough water. Too hot.))
There were no hazards on this night, and it seems that you were all very well fed and had an endless supply of water and a very comfortable safe magical shelter to sleep in. How could you want more! It seems this is a bomb setup. Given there are no encounters when sleeping!
The next morning, Azaka is going to suggest the party travels at a fast pace. The first day was very uneventful other than the chatting and getting to know one another, and she thinks it will be safe if they party really gives it with the paddles on this day. Would you all agree? Eku is indifferent and leaves the decision to the rest of you.
((heading to the OOC now! Let me know if I missed any direct questions to me in this and I will get to them))
((Map is updated with proper canoe order, let me know if it's right.))
Phillip is excited to go fast, but for his own learning, he will also still ask the guides about what kinds of dangers they might be risking by taking a fast pace.
Evo would have passed a pamphlet to Azaka during the night to read and said,
"Let meh know if ye have any questions! Aye find it's always best to sleep on what ye've read and we'll have time for plenty of talking tomorrow."
He gives her a smile then asks Eku,
"So... Ye are pretty much a being of pure good? Ye got family around here? And why do ye have a problem with a hag? Can ye give us some details on that and her?"
Alton is fine with a fast pace, but similar to Evo might ask the guides if there are any drawbacks or consequences.
Not really any RP to do during the day or night, but Alton would examine the hut Evo created, fascinated by it. He would like the other try carrying stuff in, throwing weapons, etc. but would eventually settle down for a good nights rest.
He makes sure to get enough food and drink, and compliments and thanks Gotur for the berries.
"If you're game Evo, I'm game.", Gotur stretches out his arms and shoulders when the discussion of a fast pace is mentioned.
((The previous night, he would have spent his remaining 1st level slots to cast goodberry three more times, doling out 6 berries to each of his companions for emergencies today.))
((How much progress could he have made on his healing potion crafting?))
Evo chuckles at the thought of a big bird carrying Gotur off.
