To Prove D&D Exists for Echolon

OOC: Since nobody in your known world had encountered those creatures before, your group gets to name them. What will you report when you get back to Cliffside?

OOC: Oooh, enticing!  I shall have to sink some thought into what manner of ill-conceived nonsense Ilyara suggests...

OOC: I like the Marquopolos, but maybe something a little less on the nose(less), like Polmarque (so only the people who know the in joke backwards, know the in joke).  I'll leave it to Toots to provide Cliffside etymology.

OOC: Query.  Is Toots still poisoned, or did that clear?

OOC: I think she only had cure wounds and goodberry cast on her or herself.  Don't remember if she saved out of poisoning on not after the condition afflicted her.

OOC: I'm sure she would be able to roll out of it eventually =)

OOC: No! Tommary is spending the night on rotating watch with Ilyra and Elyona to do medicine checks when Toots starts choking on her poisoned phlegm in her sleep. [looks at his own hit points] actually ... no, I'm sure Toots has some sort of antacid on her person, maybe she can eat her chalk.

OOC: I forgot to take care of that before the long rest!  So, presuming Toots is still poisoned when “morning” comes:

When Toots awoke, Elyona took one look at her and felt chagrined.  “I’m sorry, Toots, I completely missed how green you were around the gills.  That fight took more out of me that I realized!”  Then Elyona place her hands on Toots’ shoulders, closed her eyes, and prayed to Arvoreen.  Elyona’s hands glowed with a grassy green light that spread out over Toots’ body, and Toots caught the scent of lavender and chamomile.  

OOC: 5 points of “lay on hands” to clear the poison from Toots’ system.

OOC: Tapped my long rest.  I'm going to be offline most of the day.  Per earlier discussions I swapped out longstrider for Identify, so assuming there are no surprises when we emerge from the hut, I'll be able to ritual cast work all our unidentified stuff from the mirror balls and goblins etc, provided we're not in a rush.  

OOC: To riff off Marco Polo and Blind Man's Bluff for the monsters, an alternative name: Bluffolos, pronounced like buffalo.

OOC: Depends on whether we want to be cheeky, or whether we want to be Generic Edgy.  "Sightless" is easier to say and evocative, though Ilyara still favors "scrotumheads" because she's a nasty dirty unpleasant little fluff.  Could also simply call them marques, and the team knows what the full name is.

OOC: Scrotsights?  Scrotsees? Marcoscrotsees?  Marquescrotsees?

E’rybody- I really want to thank you all for sitting feverwatch over Toots and takin’ such good care of m’girl. She may not know youse all did all’a that, but I do, and I’m touched. 🤗

MidnightPlat- Toots is in no rush, she’ll be happy to take a half morning off (or however long) after yesterday. You do you, and Toots’ll play a little identifying montage music for you. 😉

‘Rei- How’bout “Sightless Stalkers” as a generically edgy yet evocative option? Or, instead of going off their the pertinent negative, perhaps using a pertinent positive as inspiration. Remember that like “Vicious Sniffers,” or “Scentinels” or something? (Or if you wanna steer away from “generic” we could go “cheekily edgy” and call ‘em “Sightless Scrotes,” or “Scrotal Sniffers.” 😂😂)

ArwensDaughter- 🤫 Don’t tell Toots or anything (I don’t want her getting jealous, ‘cause she could kick my ass), but I’m starting to fall a little in love with Ely too. 👍 (Just for totally different reasons.🤣😂🤣)

Also, I was looking at the RoLM again to see how it was worded for an unrelated thing I’m working on for the campaign I’m DMing when I realized something. I’ve been trying to get an idea on our relative elevation throughout this level of the dungeon by the waterline, but your device has an app for that, the #6 button. Except I’ve been tracking that, but Toots pro’ly hasn’t been. How do you think we can do this without meta-ing the crap outta it?
     Oh, and when was the last time you actually looked at the full description for that thing?!? (Because 🛐💩! 👇)

Drain Life. When you hit a creature with a melee attack using the rod, you can force the target to make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target takes an extra 4d6 necrotic damage, and you regain a number of hit points equal to half that necrotic damage. This property can't be used again until the next dawn.

Paralyze. When you hit a creature with a melee attack using the rod, you can force the target to make a DC 17 Strength saving throw. On a failure, the target is paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. This property can't be used again until the next dawn.

Terrify. While holding the rod, you can use an action to force each creature you can see within 30 feet of you to make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, a target is frightened of you for 1 minute. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. This property can't be used again until the next dawn.

OOC: Scroteous Olfactors

 In a light trance like state, with mood music provided by Toots, Tommary begins the Ritual of Cain.

Motes of light float through the air and knowledge is passed to the young human revealing the powers of the items in Toots' sack.

OOC: Are Rilia the dice?  There's also the matter of Ilyra's ring?  That's off the top of my head, I'll try to do an inventory tonight but I'm in the middle or prepping my in real time game set in a few hours.  Session: "The reek of mortal blood smiles upon me, and that's a lot of creamed corn..."

OOC: Rilia is the dagger.  +1, advantage on poison saves/resistance to poison, and can be used as a spell focus.  No sign of dice, and I'm preeeetty sure I know what the deal is on the Ring of Infinite Yapping but sure, Ilyara can give that one over for ID as well.

OOC: I mean, we got all morning, Tommary isn't action man all the time, he tries to balance all that with extended time in meditative trances :)

 Close, it gives advantage on all CON saves, not just poison saves.

The ring reads as non-magical - the mouth has a smarmy smile.
