It's likely the party hears Tommary say "Ok, I'm gonna beat it" from across the mud stew, he's actually saying "ok, I'm gonna B it." but is ready to moonwalk with Stormwalker outta there when whatever happens happens.
Tommary opts for B and tries to move the marked holder down, mindful for any changes in the environment triggered by the guess. Perception 16

Midnight, don’t forget you got a Bardic Inspiration from Toots if you need it.
Wysp, Toots is continually readying chill touch in case Tommary gets attacked, and she still has concentration up on the upcast hex she cast earlier for whenever she gets a bonus action.
*GASP* I am offended that you think I would stoop to such chicanery. Actually not offended =)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Sorry, was totally planning on putting Tommary's action out there last night but had a "where are all my socks?" emergency last night. Found some socks, but aforementioned socks crisis has me organizing stuff around the house for much of the day, so I'll put Tommary's action out here now,.
Tommary the Unworthy mudskates to take a swing with Stormwalker at the tentacle, then cunningly disengages to lightning zag back toward the party.
With blade flourish, Tommary will have 40' of movement, he's also making a defensive blade flourish out of this one Attack: 15 Damage: 18 second d8 is from Tommary's own inspiration for the flourish.
OOC: My rolls don't look right. I mean the numbers there make sense but I went to hover to determine my AC for the round and while I'm seeing post 22 for attack and 12 for damage, for the 22 the roll block reads 1d20 advantage +4 (which ain't what I entered) and isn't showing the roll for the 12 at all. If anyone see the 2d8+7 roll lemme know the second die.
EDIT: yeah, this persists on multiple browsers not sure what's up. I know the "dice roll hover window" (showing a roll for d20 adv +4) is not reflecting what's in the actual post (d20 +7). And hovering over the damage roll isn't showing me anything at all. With a 12 damage, that means Tommary rolled a 5 between 2d8 so I could be adding anything from 1 to 4 to his AC. If no one else can see the damage roll results for the specific d8s, we ok with me just shrugging the average and taking a 2?

OOC: I'm not going to sweat the details on the dice roller =)
RAW you cannot engage a target that is using reach if they are not close enough to you...so Tommary can do something else. The slime is at least 10 feet under water. You can also choose to dive but then would be attacking at DisAd due to poor visibility.

OOC: RAW so you're saying I need a bigger or at least longer sword ...
"Dang it, another Everlastin Gobstopper, just this one's all spit rinsing so lost it's Jolly Rancher shape," Tommary will Stormwalker skate out of reach of the blobber and any of the sucker fish that still may be skulking using a cunning action dodge as he tries to skirt around the blobber's reach. While zigging and feint zagging he'll take a gander as best he can at the thing to see if he recalls anything about them from his Scout schools studies, going to roll a 20 at disadvantage 1 and DM can add either Nature + 8 or Arcana + 4to the knowledge check. Most of my offensive spells I'd whiz off are sound based and I don't know how we're doing muddy water as a sound medium, plus would rather regroup than hang out with the sconce.

REACTION: "It's another jolly rancher! you think it can hear us under the water? Wait no not a jolly rancher, a damned gobstopper, still don't know if it can hear us underwater, how do we pull it out so we can kill it with fire. Also no slashing! Stab or smack it!"
OOC: Echolon, you're actually all good, those short swords and daggers technically do piercing ("stabby") damage. It's the long swords and axes that are defined as dealing slashing damage that are problematic against something like this. Arrows will work too if you got 'em.
OOC: DM, does the murk impose disadvantage on whether we're in the sludgy drink or not? Also wondering about how you'll rule underwater acoustics, two of my usual magics (and arguably Shatter) require hearing and I don't know whether Tommary's onto whether the accoustics of Bardic harsh language penetrates a liquid medium or is too muffled. IRL sounds vs words vs water could go either way.
OOC: The water imposes disadvantage similar to darkness as you cannot see through it. RAW water doesn't affect sound spells or even casting spells underwater.
