It is more than 5 feet underwater, but you did see a pseudopod.

Rosso dives into the water and begins to madly stab at where he thinks the jelly is. He is confident that he is scoring some hits but it is difficult to tell.

Soon after tentacles lash out at him and at Tommary

Rosso slap! Attack: 23 Damage: 10 bludgeoning plus 4 psychic.

Tommary slap! slap! Attack: 11 Damage: 7 bludgeoning plus 3 psychic.

If the attack hits, you lose a number of spell slots equal to the psychic damage.

Toots will use her bonus action to plant her previously cast hex on the creature, she will ready her action to play it a dirge for it the next time it’s pseudopod or any other part of it is clearly visible above water, and with her movement she will back the eff up to be at least 20 feet from the water’s edge.

”Ahh!! Tom’ry! Rosso! Youse two alright?!? Don’t let that thing touch you!”

Tommary takes his lashing with a spot on immitation of the "yeeagh!" uttered by Lando in Return of the Jedi when the Sarlaac grabbed him.

If Toots cannot see it she cannot target it with pretty much anything but random blind attacks. So she might as well play her dirge now with disadvantage I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Toots sees bubbles and swirls in the water indicating a hit!

Yeah, but she can’t move her hex to it if she can’t see it.

Elyona and Ilyara!

Elyona casts moonbeam, targeting the area where the bubbles etc came up from toots hit. DC 16 CON save, 5 damage

With little recourse and no good way to strike at the beast, Ilyara instead scooped up a nearby piece of debris and cast her light spell on it, before hucking the illuminated flotsam into the drink.  Either the stronger light would help illuminate the creature from inside the muck, or perhaps the presence of strong light would drive it out of its hiding.  She watched carefully either way, mind racing through other possible plans for dealing with an anti-invisible amorphous aqueous antagonist.

"Tootsie!  How much oil ya got?"

“A couple of flasks, Tallboots has more.”

OOC: You know that scene in the Matrix where they go to rescue Morpheus and Neo says in the White Room, "Guns, lots of guns"; [Sposta, note the semicolon usage] and then when Neo and Trinity enter the security checkpoint and the alarm goes off and it turns out they're like _strapped_ with firearms under their coats?  Well, besides the '90s Marvel mutant comics where everyone had long blades "X" style strapped to their backs, which Tommary currently is doing, he's also like strapped like the Matrix heroes were with guns, but with oil.  He's got 8 flasks, a bomb, and one vial of acid.  Take that with his mummy dust and two sets of manacles, we got ourselves a party.

OOC-META: I suppose given the fire tunnel, and the fact that he's been walking around with an epaulet made of eternal candles, and another more cyberpunk epaulet made of christmas light, Tommary should be a human torch many times over, but yo, it's like D&D.

The scum encrusted finger bone glows brightly as it sails though the air, then plunks into the murky waters. After about a foot of water it becomes dim, then after that it is lost to sight. 

Tommary and Rosso!

Tommary the Unworthy having regrouped with the party that hasn't dived in after the gobstopper sinks two arrows into the drink distinguishing Rosso's small thrashings from the Wonkaspawn's larger movements, with some assistance from the magic already being dropped on it.

Taking two shots at disadvantage, accounting for sneak attack due to Rosso going mano a blobbo:

Attack: 13 Damage: 33

Attack: 20 Damage: 14

He'll then take as much of his forty feet of cunning action/blade flourish boosted movement in disengagement as he can to give space between himself and any retributive pseudopod lobs.
