The party avoids whipping trip wires or ropes (hard to tell with them underwater) which would have pushed them into the flush. You cannot see it, but remember about where the pit was.

OOC: Sorry, I was in the ER yesterday and couldn’t post. (Nothing serious, nothing an antibiotic won’t fix, so no worries.) Anyway….
IC: “Whoa, that was close! Lemme mark this so we don’t have to worry about that again. Hey Tom’ry, can you give me a boost?” Toots pulls a piece of chalk out of one of her pouches and with Tommary’s help marks the wall well above the waterline where the pit is. When done, she replaces the chalk, pulls out a small knife and begins searching for the tripline to cut it loose so as to disarm the trap. “Hey, can one of you help me find this tripline?” (Perception with assumed advantage— 21)🤞

You think the cables are made of some kind of metal as your knife does not cut it. The area they affect is about 15 feet long and can be avoided now that you know they are there.

"Here, lemme give it a look-see. Ya can't ever be too careful with these things, some traps're meant t' be found and trigger when somebody tries to bugger 'em."
Ilyara draws Rilia, but spends a few moments examining the oddly cut-resistant tripline to see if she can discern any sort of "Gotcha!" secondary traps that would result from cutting/disabling the wire.
18, +2 for Investigation or +7 for Perception depending on which the DM favors for trap jiggering.

“If you think it’s safe, maybe I can cut it with some of my tools.”
Once the whip lines are secured Toots says “C’mon guys, let’s get to the next room and flush the water out of here again. Maybe we can even figure out a way to leave the valve open so it stays dryer in here. Wada youse all say?”

"We need to swim for it for a bit I think, or at least I think I did last time we came through. Also, let's try to maximize our creep on the approach. With Don Henley getting dropped back there, I wouldn't be surprised if the masterminder jerking our chains around this place dropped something in Henry's place too."
EDIT/OOC: Gonna be a largely working weekend for me, so to allow Tommary to do 'iz thing and not bog down the rest of the game more than he usually does likely things he may do of use:
Stealth, on the approach:31
Perception, to confirm replacement ahead:20
Initiative _just_ in case:16
Characteristic Quip: "Knew it! SHARKNADO!"
EDIT ooc2: That's a nat 20 on that stealth roll, good buddy. Tommary's doing his weird commando swim to the point where he's basically merged with the slime and shadows and greasy muck that pass for both water and solid surfaces ... may explain most of his brain function since he first got into the mud approaching this mountain.
OOC: Also a work weekend for me (always is to some extent, but more so than usual) and we move in a couple of weeks, so I may not be around a lot. I’ll try to check in, but if we end up in combat or needing other roles and I haven’t posted in 24 hrs or so, Wysp is free to roll for me to keep things moving.

There is no gotcha trap that Ilyara can find, and the whip ends can be secured with spikes or climbing irons.
