To Prove D&D Exists for Echolon

“Let’s go.”

The one licking his trident stops and waves sheepishly at the party as you make your way up.

Crushed trunks of mushrooms greet you at the entrance to the small cave, but there is no beast present. Listening for a short time you feel that the surrounding area is probably safe. Trying to remember the instructions from the fungaljack, you head in the direction of the spider people.

After about 30 minutes of travel mostly avoiding flesh eating grass, exploding toadstools, spore shooting fungus, and the ever famous green slime, the party finds itself 12 hp shorter and in a mushroom corridor festooned with webs.

OOC: 11 damage recorded.

IC: “Ow, I don’t know what made that trip worse, the grass or the shrooms. What do you think Tom’ry? Woah, what’s all this?”

"The tangled web they weave..."

“Wadaya think made all those webs?”

OOC: Damage noted. 

“I’m guessing either the spider people ore their companions.”

"That's my guess. Hmmm. Let me try something.  They trade with the fungijack, so I'm guessing are open to parlay."

Tommary will investigation 27the webbing, if the nature of its fibers seem like the sort of robust material a humanoid could "pluck" at string instrument style, he'll give a fiber a gentle ballad like strum.  He knows arachnids and other web spinners are pretty sensitive to what goes on in their webbing, maybe they're even already alerted through their breathing.  Anycase, he figures a gentle touch at the entry to their domain would be a more peaceful introduction than just trudging through tearing up their threshold.  Of course, he's also ready to "from the top rope" this if his effort at diplomacy fails.

 EDIT: effed up the tootip, and the rolls changed, I think it was a 17 on first roll.

OOC: Ow.

"Only really one class'a critter makes stuff like that, eh?  Spiders, whether they're spider people or spider-spiders.  Big, small, talky, bitey - spiders're spiders, right?"

“Right. Right?”

"You think these spider folk are butt-webbing or hand-webbing spider folk? I hear there's a variation as to how precisely spider people spin their webs...."

Tommary plucks some strands making random notes thrum through the webbing. A short while later the webs vibrate on their own, or possibly somebody or some thing signaled back. 

"Alrighty then, here we go," Tommary the Unworthy More Duelist than Duetist says before beginning the challenge.  Performance 10 

There is a quiver in the webs, then a pause.

Then all of the webs in the "corridor" vibrate madly.

You see three large spider come out of the darkness, purple in color, and covered in coarse hair. All three pause and seem to study the party, chelae waving slowing at you. 

Elyona does her best to look relaxed and friendly.  Keeping her hand away from her weapons, but not too far away.

Toots smiles sheepishly and waves hello to he newcomers. In halting common she says “H…hello.”

“Maybe they’re shy?”

One of the spiders has a rock tied to its leg. From this rock issues a voice. "Why have you come this way?"

“Hi there. We’re explorers sent to this accursed mountain to recover some stuff for some elves who lost them a longlong time ago. We heard from a friendly woodcutter that youse all were over here so we figured maybe it was worth a trek over to see if you knew anything that might help us find that old elf’s crummy ol’ stuff so we can wrap up here and finally get back to some sunshine. Wadaya say? Can ya maybe help us out? We promise not to take up too much of your time.”
