You create a flare of light that illuminates a 30 by 30 foot room. There is a circular dais in the center of the room . About 15 feet away from the door squats a black creature about the size of a tiger. It has 6 muscular legs, bulbous pustules along its flanks and back, two long tentacles, and big nasty teeth. You see it snarl before your light winks out.
