Cora looks to Lucille and smiles. She begins to sarcastically play with her hair. "I kinda like thing 1 and thing 2. I'm sure we can find a way to convince the guards." Giving a wink to Lucille. She then drops the sarcastic tone. "I don't learn the names of those who I think won't last long. For now, call me C."
Wulgar smiles and finishes his ale, says "There we have it, Lucille and Miss C. I'm ready whenever you are. I will play the part of your hired muscle and if you need me to give the old evil eye to anyone who is giving you any guff, just let me know. Are you ready Thom? Who knows the way?"

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"I know the way to the guards. I can take the lead to get there, then point the ladies in the right direction." Thom answers. He then looks to Gellan and says, "You didn't say I would be going into the field, I had intended on being one of your guards."
"I'd actually like you to go along with them, if you will, Thom. They might be able to make use of you in infiltrating the guards, if it so calls for it." Gellan nods. "I would've told you earlier, but I could only assure our secrecy here."
OOC: Unless there's any other questions, I'll get our quest started in earnest tomorrow morning.

As you all finish with Gellan, he leaves to join a different table, conversing with some other smugglers and no-good individuals. Odd he's hanging around them. No one seems to pay him any mind.
As for gathering leads, the docks are ripe with opportunities. I'd like each of you to make your choice of one of the following: a Persuasion, Intimidation, Deception, or Investigation check to gather clues around the docks. Perhaps some of the guards might be willing to talk or snitch out their companions. Or, perhaps some of the fishermen have heard suspicious activity.

"Well if we could please leave this place and descuse what we are going to be doing." Thom has a look of discust on his face about the low he has come to.

More comfortable around fishermen than authoritative figures, Lucille will go to the docks and talk to the handful of men and women that have set up with their poles. Persuasion: 16

Cora will head to the guards and try to persuade them to give her information, using her.. Womanly charms.
She would say things, in her southern accent, along the lines of "Hey there handsome (or beautiful, Cora doesn't descriminate), I was lookin for a fisher friend of mine, was wonderin if ya saw em."
Persuasion: 9

Wulgar tries a different take. "Hey, you. Yes, I mean you. Do you have any idea which of the militia guard has been snatching up fishermen, or where they might be held? It would be good if you would speak up and tell me what you know. Good for your health, if you know what I mean. And this is just between you and me, all confidential like."
As the are walking along, Wulgar turns to Thom and says "What's the story with you? How did you end up in our merry little band? I have a feeling that you didn't want to see how the sausage is made, just preferred to sample it when it is done. Is that right? How did you end up here with us working folk?" He clears his sinuses and hocks out a loogie onto the pier, with a little flame coming out after it. Then he looks up at Thom for an explanation.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Ok so plan A, B, and C have all failed, what is plan D?" Thom asks. One of you point out that me talking to a guard, guard to guard might help. "Yes well seeing as that plan doesn't work perhaps what is plan E?" The look of frustration of everyone's face tells Thom that he needs to.
It's my orders, find out what's going on. That means I need to talk with some guards. Ok, I can do this I've done this before, lots of time. Ok so who do I look for?
Thom is looking for a guard that gives the tell tale signs of a straight good guard or a guard who is in the thick of things. I have a plan either way it goes, but I would prefer a good guard.
I'm going to make a straight role add what you want as a DM.

Cora will pipe up to offer another solution. "I actually have somethin' that might help. I can actually talk to animals, so if we can find an animal that lives by the guards, or an animal that spends a lot of time by the guards. I might be able ta get somethin' from it. Just an option." Cora will keep an eye out for an animal that seems to spend time by the guards.
You all split up for a bit to try to gather information, to varying degrees of success.
Lucille: You chill with the fishermen for a bit. The only information you get from them, unfortunately, is gossip. While you find out little about the missing fishermen, you do overhear word of a tiefling trader who's come to town, and is willing to pay good coin for crocodile skulls from the Hool Marshes nearby.
Cora: You manage to get a bit further. It seems a certain group of guards has been MIA for a few days, but the men you're interrogating don't seem to want to chat about it all that much. At least, not with you. They shoo you off before you can get any further with them, at least for now. "You're cute for one of 'em small-folk. Maybe if you wanted to get a drink sometime after my shift?" As for whether they seem squirrel-y? Yes, most definitely. If you want more, you'll need to roll me a Insight check.
When you pull back for a plan B regarding an animal, you instantly notice the half-dozen gulls perched atop the lamp-posts in town. Many fly away, startled, when townsfolk pass by on the streets. If you'd like to chat with one, feel free to cast Speak With Animalsand roll me an Animal Handling check with advantage.
Wulgar: The pack of guards you confront don't seem to be too interested in your antics. With a couple of laughs, they shove past you, moving on their merry way without another word.
Thom: Using your Insight, you find a pack of guards separate from the rest. As far as you can tell, his head is on straight. His armor is polished a little more than the rest. It might be worth having a chat with him, if you're so inclined.

On the next approach, Wulgar just stays quiet, in the background, making observations about body language, habits, where do their eyes glance when they are talking, trying to read them for information as Thom talks.
