If the bag of holding breaks all items inside are lost in the astral plane, i think i would count this as breaking.
Read the definition of the class feature: "If an infusion ends on an item that contains other things, like a bag of holding, its contents harmlessly appear in and around its space."
I believe this text is actually an errata in Tasha's (not present at time of post). It does solve the problem though.
So another question that I can't really find the answer too. Say if I were to take the Replicate Magic Item infusion and got the ring of mind shielding. Could I change that into another item for instance, the Gauntlets of Ogre Power after a long rest?

Yes, provided that you already know the Replicate Gauntlets of Ogre Power infusion in addition to your Replicate Ring of Mind Shielding infusion. If not, then you would have to wait until a level up to swap out one of your known infusions to swap in another Replicate [Magic Item] infusion.
Damn, so I can't change my magic item infusion for another magic item. I see why they have it like that, because switching out magic items on the fly after a long rest would be a bit broken.
If I replicate, say bag of holding, but at the bottom it says "no item infused" because I am maxed out at infusion limit, can I still use bag of holding?

No. Infused items are only magical so long as they are infused. As soon as they are no longer infused they become non-magical. A Bag of Holding becomes just an ordinary bag the moment the infusion is dropped from it.

Well, it really depends on if creating the replicated BoH was the infusion that maxed out the character. If that infusion was what took them to their limit, then it is functional. If they learned that infusion but have already infused their limit then that’s a different story.

That’s why around half of my Artificer’s known infusions are different Replicate (Magic Item) infusions. That way I can have an Alchemy Jug for everyday use, and a Rope of Climbing for days when there will be spelunking, and swap it to a Wand of Secrets for dungeon crawling.
That is, after all, kinda the point of being an Artificer IMO.
They have maxed out their limit, and hasn't infused the BoH. Thank you. Wanted to make sure I didn't have an Artificer in my group cheat by saying they have a BoH they can use, but it wasn't infused.
Hi, somewhat related to this topic, I'm trying to figure out what I need for my artificer to be able to craft an Prosthetic limb. I can't find the materials or anything that would be needed to create a limb with the infuse magic item, neither can I figure out what exactly the magic part is of this item. I just find the idea of a war doctor artificer really interesting. Hope anyone can figure this out and let me know.
Hi there, I think this changed in the Erata to the Eberron sourcebook and release of Tasha’s. In Tasha’s, the prosthetic limb is no longer under replicable item. It is however a common non magical item, which means you can craft one (might need some help), purchase, or be given one and it does not consume an attunement slot. Also of note in the Erata, the homunculus is no longer a 6th level infusion, just in case anyone else was confused like I was having an older printing of Eberron Rising sourcebook and Tasha’s.

No, the prosthetic limb is a common magical item. Any artificer can learn it as an infusion.
I've yet to play an artificer, but I've been theorycrafting one at level 9 for use the next time I get to roll a new character. Right now, my infusion list is:
Generally Inactive: Spellwrought Tattoo (Common only), Bag of Holding, Bag of Holding
Generally Active: Enhanced Defense, Repulsion Shield, Repeating Shot (I want to shoot people with a pistol)
I do wish we had real rules for everyone for making magic items - it'd be nice to be able to devote effort to rendering infusions permanent by making them for real instead of as infusions, at a cost in time, money, and so on that's fair and balanced. I've heard some GMs just rule that Artificers can use the Xanathar's rules for any magic item they know how to infuse as if they had the recipe and rare materials, so it literally just costs them workweeks and gp, but I have no idea how balanced that is.
Pardon the “non”. That was a typo. It is however not listed in the infusion listing for replicate magic item anymore, meaning it does not consume an infusion slot or attunement slot if obtained or created by other means. Of course if DM approves and a player wants to waste an infusion, they could produce one I would imagine using this feature.
Agree on the crafting comments. Across both XGTE and the DMG, it seems amiss and there is only more clarity for the artificer itself in this regard only in higher levels.
So when you want to infuse regular goggles to be Goggles of Night and you can't add any normal goggles to your character sheet, what's the workaround?
** never mind, Apparently there was a delay it eventually replicated the item. Leaving the question here in case anyone else can benefit from it.
Yeah, on DDB the Replicate Magic Item infusion just gives you the item instead of infusing an existing item. Probably because they'd need to add a lot of underpinnings to track what mundane gear is a valid target for all the different magic items you can replicate, as well as additional mundane gear like goggles (though to be honest I'd like mundane goggles as gear since my character has them.)
New to Artificer and now at level 2. If I create Goggles of Night and also have my armor for enhanced defense, would I be able to enhance my dagger (enhance weapon)? I have a feeling from what I read that I can only have two of these at a time (level 2). I was wondering if I created the Goggles of Night if they would stay that way indefinitely or not. My gut says not.

You can only have two items infused at a time. Yes, you absolutely could enhance your dagger, but the older of the other two infused items would lose its infusion and become non-magical.

It doesn't need to be explicitly listed any more because it's a common magic item and the Replicate Magic Item infusion contains this text:

i want to make an eratz eye do i need a normal eye for this? and if i need it can it be from any creature i want?
I can't find any reference to any artificer infusion by that name. Can you clarify?
