I was just trying to add an armor infusion to mithral plate armor and it didn't come up as an option. My understanding is that mithral (and adamantine) armor are simply constructed out of a special metal and are not inherently magical, so I would think that I should be able to infuse them. Also, is there any way to apply blessing of the forge to a piece of mithral armor without simply making a homebrew magic item?
It seems like the system considers mithral plate as magical and cause it follows RAW, mithral plate can't be infused. Not sure too sure about the blessing of the forge, but I imagine it is the same situation. Don't know any workarounds, unfortunately.

That is incorrect this edition. In 5e, those armors are “Magic Items” in every sense of the term, they just happen to name their special “ingredient” in their name as does dragon scale mail.
