It had something to do with the duration of overlapping effects. In trying to make a metaphor about Spirit Guardians, somebody asked about eating more than one Goodberry in a given day. Someone said something about the duration of Goodberry being 24 hours, and asked how someone else would handle that "overlapping duration" (which it isn't, since Goodberry says nothing about eating more than 1 in a day...).
So what happens when you DO eat more than one?
It has been argued in this thread that everything that the spell does is the effect. The effect of the good berry is that the berries last for 24 hours, it heals for 1 hp, and it provides nourishment for 1 day. Those are all pertinent effects of the spell or no?
If you eat a second berry, the effects of the first are still in play - being fed. So does eating the second do nothing?

Not to mention that the duration of Goodberry is instantaneous.
True, but that goes back to the interpretation problem highlighted immediately above your post by Chicken_Champ.
When I read that section of a spell's infocard, to me, the entry for "Duration" should be the sum total that the spell will last. Sometimes, that's true. Sometimes, it's not. A cantrip like [Tooltip Not Found] is instant, and it makes sense. You're firing off a small little ball of fire to hit someone, and that's all of it. Other things, though, are not so clear. And Goodberry is the perfect example of that (though there are others). Creating the berries occurs instantly, but the magical effect of the berries lasts for 24 hours (strange it specifies 24 hours, not 1 day, so worlds with a shorter day can have... ramifications...). So the spell itself has a duration of instantaneous, but it's effect lasts 24 hours? So... it's duration (little 'd') is 24 hours? But, no... it's instant... Or rather, it's casting is, which should be covered in it's Casting Time (1 action). But for whatever reason the Duration is also devoted to how you cast it, instead of the effects of the spell.
But I agree with Chicken_Champ, this is a separate problem which deserves its own thread.
Or it does not overfeed you (which is likely good) but does heal you the 1 hp if you are still wounded, since the healing is instantaneous, not ongoing?
The majority of this thread stated quite clearly that if the being fed action is still in effect, the healing part will not work. Just like you don't get double damage from spirit guardians and don't get double movement penalties.

I have to say I am very impressed. Just spent the last hour reading this, and the way you handled your self is incredible. In a debate about RAW you backed up everything you said with the references to the rules. But more impressive was how you kept cool, composed, and polite, when some countered your argument with insults, baiting techniques, and 0 written rules to object to what you were saying. Hell I was getting aggravated just reading some of it.
I know this is an old thread, but had to comment on that, hope we get more people like you.
