When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a miracle, oh, it was beautiful, magical.
But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible; logical, oh, responsible, practical.
And so I ran away and became an Adventurer because that will really show them, the hypocrites.

The consensus at the Academy is that destiny is the driving force of the Universe. Well, my "destiny" has been told, and it's that I'll be a lazy, second-rate academic who keeps to a study and dies unhappy. I think it's about time I test my new theory of free will, and I've already got a subject and experiment in mind, just as soon as I find a sufficiently daring adventure.

When the old man hired me to find his daughter I knew something was fishy, but I didn't expect her to turn up dead because he'd sacrificed her to fulfill some bargain -- and with me the intended next victim. Somewhere along the way, sifting through her letters for clues and staring at that portrait of her above the mantle, I fell in love with her. Now I've got to find a way to bring her back, even if it means cutting a deal of my own with the entity that's claimed her soul.

I used to travel in a spelljammer vessel that could shift between planes, teleport me whereever I wanted to go and change its shape to blend in with the local area, sadly its now broken after a crash landing and stuck looking like a painted blue wagon. I still have my arcane powers and expertise in almost every field of magic you could imagine and can bend time itself to my whim. I'll do some conventional travelling and see if I can find some people in need of help whilst I try to fix my vessel, my name is The Physician and I'm here to help.

More people really should see Cast. The sequel to it may have sucked, but it is a total Martin Campbell film and Fred Ward did an amazing job.
Also, Olivia, sweet Olivia. She wasn't very good at being a good little girl...

To Cast a Deadly Spell is one of my all time favorite movies. It was literally the inception of my fascination with the genre of fantasy magic in a modern/post modern world. Were it not for that movie, I might never have become a huge fan of such IPs as Shadowrun, The Dresden Files, and many others. I saw it as a kid and then couldn’t remember the title, it took me more than 30 years to find anyone who not only knew the movie and. Like recognize that as the one I meant from my vague and inaccurate description based on my hazy and distant memories of it. I didn’t even know there was a sequel.
Fred Ward is awesome btw. He also stared in another one of my favorite movies, Ringo Star, the Adventure Begins. Now that movie should have definitely had a sequel.

The sequel was Witch Hunt, released on HBO in 1994. Lovecraft was played by Dennis Hopper, and it was set in the 1950's. Same writer, different director (the director of Cast was Martin Campbell).
HBO held onto the films as an HBO exclusive until the mid 2000's, and then it went to VHS rental only. It took a shift in leadership at AT&T to force the release onto DVD, which is why it took so long. These days you can get Cast through both Amazon and Apple, but it has never to my knowledge been released to any other streaming service.

Remo was amazeballs. 10/10, definitely recommend. I was unaware it was based on any books, I’ll have to look into them. I still periodically quote that movies under a variety of circumstances. For example, every time my elderly mother stumbles because she doesn’t lift her legs high enough when she walks a holler “pick up your feet!” in a terrible imitation of Joel Grey’s terrible accent for Chiun. 😂😂
What makes me special is I'm my own man.
I had purchased CaDS on Amazon as a “permanent” license, but events have resulted in my no longer having access to it anymore and need to spend that $10 all over again. 🙄
I can't say that I ever rally liked the little nasties, but I can say that over the years I have traveled, they have changed quite a bit.
I know because back in the old days, i was just a gal from the wrong side of the river, picked up by a bored, crotchety old wizard and taught my trade.
Someday I'll get over my dislike of the creatures who killed my family -- but until then...
note: these were what kobolds looked like in 1e.

Although I was mocked and ridiculed, I struggled alongside others, and proved myself an equal to any of the them, but it was at that moment that strangers attacked, and slaughtered many -- nearly including myself; were it not for the man who raised me, I would have died along with the others.
But that attack killed him as well, and I will not rest until I have brought to justice those who attacked my people, my village, and my father; a justice that comes at the end of my weapons!

When my partner in the watch turned out to be a bad guy on the take, I got tarred and feathered alongside him, and a lot of it was because I refused to learn magic.
A Man's gotta earn a living, and I only knew how to be a watchman, so I'm taking what skills I do have and turning them to adventuring --but I still won't use magic.
Gotta new gig, my first big case; gotta find a book for an old wizard with a crazy daughter.

Amelia Ward, youngest daughter of a corrupt noble family, was groomed for a life of political advantage, but became disillusioned after discovering her parents’ pact with a devil.
After betraying her parents' interests, she fled, becoming Amy, a self-serving private eye who uses her bardic skills for practical purposes rather than the entertainment of nobles like her parents.
While she thrives in her new life, guilt over abandoning her siblings lingers, leaving her torn between her past and her desire to live for herself.
Dad somehow ended up going at it with a monster, and I was born. Now I'm a bit of an outcast in society for it and that left me with social anxiety and awkwardness. yay.

I made a big mistake when I was younger by beating the hell out of three local boys who were coming on to my girl, and I done my time in the mines as a result.
Now I am heading back to where it all began, looking forward to seeing my girl once more and our child -- but the only way there is as part of a caravan that's also transporting some really nasty criminals.
I just hope that this one bandit leader doesn't have his friends planning to help him escape, because that would put a big crimp in my plan to see my girl and my baby.

Now I'm a bit of an outcast in society for it and that left me with social anxiety and awkwardness. yay.

"I'm not evil, I'm just a problem. Like, the government is aware of that fact, but since I'm never a high priority, I'm constantly just a significant inconvenience to society."

I still don't understand what's happening to me -- one minute I'm a tavern wench and the next I'm somehow important to the future of the world?
I was saved from some kind of unstoppable monster force thanks to the help of a stranger and a large block of stone that crushed it, but now I have to stay alive long enough to make sure the future I've been told about never comes true.
And I swear, I saw the same monster not two days ago, still somehow coming for me...

This is a really good one. Trying to think what class would work best for her... battle master fighter, or something like zealot barbarian?
