Well, even if they don't include UA by default, once the option to add homebrew stuff goes live, there's nothing to keep someone from adding all the UA material then anyway. One way or another, I see UA material, being added in.
Yeah but there's nothing to keep me from adding all the UA material to free versions of what Beyond is offering, tbh
I can't support this enough. It would make life incredibly easier. Even if it was something you had to enable in the options, "Include Unearthed Arcana?"
Honestly, even if they don't add it, I'll be adding UA to my homebrew section once stage 3 comes around, if only for my friends and I. I didn't even know The Codex existed, but I've made a personal-use PDF compendium of all player options spanning all of 5E for my group, fully formatted and bookmarked. So including UA, I'd like the other options to be available as well, such as the Curse of Strahd Player Options PDF and other miscellany that may not be Core or UA. Also going to be adding my Warlord homebrew, because yes.
I think that it got taken down because they plan on releasing one of their own soon. I really like the style he did his in but it was very close to WotC style. I hope they consult him to help them make an official copy.

From the darkest dungeons, to the brightest mountaintops, there is always a little lore to learn along the way.

Hopefully that's the case! I personally use InDesign to create my PDF with a customized theme similar to that of the PHB. I'm not a big fan of The Homebrewery, though I like what it stands for in allowing others to access a nice publication tool for that particular purpose.
I would love to see a UA book especially to make the new Ranger, Artificer and Mystic official.
I do hope they rework and polish the Artificer and Mystic to make publication if they do release a UA book this year.
UA definitely needs to be native on this app/site. I can't see a scenario where that would be a bad thing. It is for play testing, why not make it easy to play test?

It seems illogical for WotC not to use this platform for UA. Even if they put the finished product behind the paywall, the playtest material should be available here.
I would like them to add in UA, as I use a UA Bard/Warlock, but I do think they would need to go over the materials first. My DM and I go over all the bonuses I would get and alter them; like the Archfey Patron Warlock can get an Eldritch Incantation that make every die roll to regain hit points the max amount, which is kind of overpowered.
I was hoping for an easy to find, easy to use collection of Unearthed Arcana/Playtest material. I get the occasional heads-up for UA material, but I'm missing a LOT of that info! Also, my group doesn't use UA material because not everyone in the group can find it all, I'm hoping that can change! Homebrew is something I'm not as interested in, as some start out as great ideas and end up either broken or OP... seldom in between, but it could happen.
Thank you for bringing back official forums!

When the people of the future learn of my deeds, they'll surely say he was human - mistakes were made
My group likes the UA stuff a lot. It's fresh and interesting. We treat it as WoTC basic, even though it's not (and aside from that, we don't really touch homebrew).
So, yes, I'd like to see the UA stuff, along with Tyranny, Curse, Elemental Evil, etc. in beyond. The fewer books I need physically, in front of me, the better. The fewer sections, entries and addenda that I need to cross reference, the better, also. So I don't want this material just "available" in beyond, I want the artificer and the mystic to pop up next to the barbarian and the sage in the main entry for "character types." checkboxes and not-finished-content disclaimers not withstanding ofc. The more checkboxes, and filters, and sorting criteria you can cram in there, that's good too.
I would think this would be the perfect place to make UA options available. Especially in the full-version of the character-builder. If you want people to playtest UA, and you want people to use D&D Beyond, and you are the same company that manages both things, it feels like a no-brainer.
I know that I am on the edge of my seat every Monday where a new UA is published. I love the stuff, especially seeing that some of the materials are being published into books like SCAG. Now that this is putting out full-blown classes to, I think not adding it would be an unfortunate misstep in getting these classes integrated into the greater system.
With how many Mystic Disciplines there are, I'd rather reference digital spell cards rather than flipping through the pdf or printed pages, honestly.
I totally agree! I was a huge fan of The Codex/u/AeronDrake was making over at the Unearthed Arcana Subreddit. I can see why Wizards wanted to take it down, it's their property. But my biggest gripe with UA is that it's not easy to access all the information in one place. Would love to see it integrated here in some way. Perhaps with filters or an account wide setting that will show or display UA content in the compendium, or a separate UA area which people can pull from.
Holy crap they really did send out a DMCA claim... Maybe if they compiled the pdf's themselves users wouldn't have to. What a dick move.
I know there is going to be support for homebrew, but I wonder if UA updates will automatically get integrated here? If not, I would recommend a public workshop of sorts for sharing. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I was thinking exactly the same thing, especially with the new starter spells that were just released for UA! I give it a hardy second!
This is literally all I want out of D&D Beyond. All the UA info in once place. Everything else is a bonus.
Considering WotC default won't let fans compile that information in one place without a copyright takedown notice, it'd be ridiculous if they didn't let an officially licensed product utilize UA stuff for the homebrew section.
UA seems like the perfect material for Phase 3 of the Beta. It's "homebrew" and easy for WotC to access.
No, you may not roll to disbelieve that your wounds exist.

Not a "dick move" in the least.
American copyright law can be... complicated.

I can't issue you a guarantee, but the intent is certainly for D&D Beyond to include ALL of the 5th edition rules produced by WotC.
