good day, I was wondering what is the definition of "hits" I understand basic aspects like evil archer fires at bard and I use interceptor to protect the bard. But more specific scenarios come to mined: if a trap fires an arrow from a hidden position could I use it to defend the bard? If an evil wizard uses magic missile or fire bolt do they still stop the damage?
And lastly, dose intercepter stops spells that require save? If bard fails on the Dex save of a fire ball could I use my interceptor reaction to bring damage down?

thanks a lot, have a good day :)
Anything that requires an attack roll can “hit,” but the fighting style specifies that it has to be a “creature” that hits your metaphorical bard buddy, and it has to be an “attack.” So you can’t protect them against traps because a trap is an “object,” not a “creature.” And spells that force saving throws are not “attacks” since they don’t require an attack roll, so you can’t protect someone against them either. Same goes for magic missile, no attack roll = not an “attack.” You could protect against fire bolt though since it is an “attack.”

You know you need to rest your eyes for a bit when you read the thread title as INCEPTION fighting style.
I was all, "Yes, go on. You have my attention, dream warrior."
