Some of my players have been using the new UA spells which is cool but trying to keep track of which have been archived from that batch and which are still out.
So I see Mind Sliver (which I like) and Mind Thrust (which I think is REALLY strong, especially for a 2nd level spell) are still there but removed from the bard's table.
I like allowing UA on my table and think Mind sliver is actually useful. Not a lot of enemies save well against INT, and the -d4 is a solid combo when using save or suck spells.
Mind thrust, on the other hand is taking my guys out of the fight for only a 2nd level spell. I'm surprised it's still in at all. I was going to talk to the player (bard), and say 'I like using UA, but if WOTC archived it, there's a reason' and request he swap it but do I have the same argument if it's just removed from the bard's table? We also have a sorcerer but I don't even think he noticed the spell... (though, mind sliver is still a pain, I wouldn't mind if he left it - is that inconsistent? especially since that's his main damage dealing spell/cantrip) or should I just suck it up, it's part of the game? I was never fond of DMs who limited or restricted outright RAW because they just didn't like it or felt it was too powerful.
Also, which was the original UA for these spells? I want to compare but can't find which one it was

Wow, they really took away EVERYTHING from the bard except Intellect fortress. meh. So should I restrict my bard player from all of these new spells? Take away mind sliver too? Leave everything?
On a side note, he started with the changeling, including unsettling visage, which I'm disappointed that they removed and let him keep that so would it be too inconsistent to pick and choose like this?
Honestly, I'd take it away. WotC has found that it's not suitable for a bard, and your experience is saying the same. Them's the breaks for using UA.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

Click on “Game Rules”—>”Spells”—>”All Spells”—>”Show Advanced Filters”—>“Sources: Unearthed Arcana”—>“Filter Spells”
That will show you the full list of all active UA spells.
On the character sheet itself it should also say “(Archived)” next to the name of any archived spells that they know.
Even if they are Archived, your player can still use them as long as they never remove them from the character sheet.
I hope that helps.

The original UA (I believe) was this one (though Mind Thrust was also a Psionic Talent in the latest version of the Mystic).

I honestly think you are over worried about a rather minimal inconvenience. The simplest answer is just throw tougher fights at them.
