Note: If you share it publically (not required for personal use or for others in your campaign to use) - then any artwork will not be shown for anyone who adds it.
For this reason many people leave it blank.

Also if you are going to share homebrew publicly, art wont show for others as we cant verify that it isn't copyrighted or rights purchased to the art. Art will only show in private homebrew for the owner/creator.

Will it show for my players in my campaign?
It... should? It's been an extermly long time since I tested that functionality. From what i can recall, whilst it's private it should show the artwork to those that have access (via campaign sharing, etc)
Well that sucks that Monster Art isn't allowed, I was really looking forward to seeing other work and showcasing my own. I think the internet has grown up from that level of defensiveness. A simple checkbox "I verify that this artwork is mine or that I have permission to use it" would suffice. Violation could have one's account deleted. That'd be more than enough to cover DdDBeyond's butt. Does DnDBeyond claim copyright ownership of everything posted on its site?

There's an entire forum for art: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/arts-crafts. Showcasing your art among the homebrew creations seems incredibly ineffective - who's going to go trawling through all those homebrew items to look for artwork?

Well there you go! It's already happening in another part of the site. Having an image attached to the actual monster entry shouldn't be such a problemo. Cheers!

Hey there world, i'm new to dnd beyond and am slightly confused as to how I should create art for my homebrew monsters and such, anyone got advice?
You either create it yourself, get permission for use, or leave the image blank. I'd say the majority leave it blank.
"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."
-Vedexent
"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
-Ilyara Thundertale
Leave it blank? as far as I can tell it's a required field. maybe I am just overthinking but imma see 'bout dat
Art isn't a required field for any homebrew
