The Cleric seems buffed overall. Need to see the spells, though, especially spirit guardians, to see where the class is at.
Weird how they talk about the subclasses being two axis with opposites and positioning light-trickster and life-war when there's death, twilight, and peace domains.
The change to Divine Intervention is insanely strong but on brand with the Cleric beseeching their deity for assistance.
I missed if Spiritual Weapon was going to be concentration based, but if it is that's fine. When you have something that becomes "You need to do this because there is no downside", it's bad game design.
The cleric is my second favorite class from the 2014 rules. Now I have to hope they have something big in store for the bard or the 2024 cleric might wrestle away the #1 spot.

I said during the video that as a DM I'd be willing to let my cleric players choose whether they wanted to use the 2014 or 2024 version of Divine Intervention, depending on situation. I know some people like the luck aspect of it, and if you're a Dimension 20 watcher, the payoff can be hilarious.

As a DM, I find a lot to like here. The polish to class abilities and domains is welcome, as these features have consequences for world building. I love the duality/opposites concept for domains, especially, as this idea reflects much of how gods are positioned in many mythologies.

Honestly, I think that'd be fine with having both options online at once. Cleric declares which option they're going for, either the free spell which just works(think of it like your God/Boss just trusts you to make a good decision because you've made it this far) or you going for a huge risk but potentially huge reward.

When they discuss the War Domain cleric they mention they have a feature that let's them use Channel Divinity to cast Spiritual Weapon or Shield of Faith without concentration. The implication being Spiritual Weapon requires Concentration as standard casting.
I do find it jarring that they say they're looking at bringing in the old flavour of healing damaging certain creatures, but are then making it so normal healing will work on undead. Tonally and mechanically inconsistent which will likely completely prevent players using healing spells to harm fell creatures; if there's no consistency to what's harmed or healed, your players will never be able to make an accurate guess (unless they read the statblock).
It seems really good. But what I'm not understanding is whether or not Blessed Strikes is a class feature now instead of subclass feature. Because if that's the case wouldn't that mean there are new subclass features for each class at level 8?
Weird how they talk about the subclasses being two axis with opposites and positioning light-trickster and life-war when there's death, twilight, and peace domains.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thinking the same thing.

They mentioned in a previous video during the playtesting period that their scheme was for every class in the new PHB to have opposed or complementary pairs of subclasses, so that new players get to see the broad scope of each class. Whilst the subclasses you mentioned are indeed very valid opposites for the subclasses included, they weren’t in the 2014 PHB, so weren’t going to be included when already three original subclasses have had to be excluded.
The scheme they’ve chosen (revealing the truth vs concealing it; healing vs harm) works well, but it’s clearly not the only possible scheme.
it was nice to see them talk about if you use the 2024 cleric with a 2014 subclass and stuff i know people say its backwards compatible but it was still a worry i had

How are we feeling about the new Cleric, everyone?

Lots of fun stuff in this video.

Cleric is one of those classes that was thematically interesting to me, but was mechanically unappealing. Now I think I might want to try one out.

Is the article also delayed for Cleric?

The axis works better with the Wizard
Defence vs Offence (Abjurer vs Evoker)
Truth vs Lies (Diviner vs Illusionist)

What was mechanically unappealing about it to you? Just curious since I find it to have neat mechanics myself.
This is a signature. It was a simple signature. But it has been upgraded.

It would be easier to watch the video because everything they "fixed" was my primary issue with Cleric as a class. So the new version sounds dope!
