So, shadow blade is a monk weapon, and is valid choice for a kensei weapon. But when i hit monk 17, and my martial arts die becomes a d10, DnD beyond updates my shadow blade to be 2d10. I looked at the rules and the wording for martial arts seems to back it up, is there any RAW reason why this wouldn't work?
You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike or monk weapon. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.
So in this case, you'd replace 2d8 (the normal damage) with a d10 (a martial arts die).

I'd say it doesn't work because the rule states to replace "the normal damage" with "a" martial arts die.

Shadow Blade as in the 2nd Level Spell Shadow Blade? Or is this a homebrew weapon?
