I've had a character on the back burner for some time; A neutral evil doctor who wants to cure the world of disease, but considers most emotions some form of disease, such as love, fear, fury, etc. My concept had him pegged as a transmutation wizard, and I was pretty happy with the build I had. Then Artificer got released, and the Alchemist subclass looks like a good fit as well, seeing as my introduction for him would include some weak homebrew potions.
My question is, which would suit better? A transmutation wizard (or any other school, if it's more applicable), or an alchemist artificer?
"Where words fail, swords prevail. Where blood is spilled, my cup is filled" -Cartaphilus
"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."

Love this with the Mercy Monk as mentioned. Doesn't have to be war forged. You could be whatever race. The Mercy Monk is a really cool concept with this though.
Other possibilities that come to mind:
Necromancer wizard
Cleric - either Death or grave
Oathbreaker paladin
