Hi guys, my question is in the title. Does anyone know how to link to different types of damage into one action. I'm creating a a class and one of actions you can deal 1d6 piercing damage and 1d6 necrotic damage. I can't seem to be able to have it do both piercing and necrotic damage, it seems that it one or the other.
Did you try adding a second modifier table? This is assuming you are using Homebrew creation methods, not just character sheet Customization tabs or Custom Actions.
Yeah, I spent a lot of time trying to figure that one out myself and was unable to find a solution. As far as I can tell there is tone. If you find one, could you please share? Thanks in advance
Can someone from D & D beyond team shed some light onto this topic? It seems that more then just a few people seem to not understand how to make this feature work. Much appreciated from everyone using this site I'm sure.
To add more damage to a weapon, just use the modifier DAMAGE with a submodifier of the damage type, then specify the damage.
This is how official magic items, like the flametongue sword are created. This example is from one of my own homebrew that adds +1d8 piercing damage to a magical weapon.
On the character sheet, you'll see it shows in the notes section, rather than in the damage field.
This does mean that, currently, the dice roller doesn't pick it up. Be assured that is going to change though! 😊

Yes, but how do you do it with an action attached to a subclass feature?

Yeah I tried doing that, but it didnt acknowledge that when I rolled that action on the character sheet.

I can add a modifier to edit the action as a weapon attack (unarmed), and add a ability modifier to it, but I cant add a dice roll to it.
I honestly don't think you can do it, but if you figured out a way to do it, i'm defiitnely interested.

Ah, gotcha!
In short, you can't - damage from an action is of a single type.
